Yah. It’s back. S2 !!!

whoop

starts mon 15th and on weekly

i really enjoyed s1

The new trailer ( gives a fresh look at the show's returning characters, including new PSNI recruits Grace (Siân Brooke), Annie (Katherine Devlin) and Tommy (Nathan Braniff), alongside Stevie (Martin McCann), Helen (Joanne Crawford) and Sandra (Andi Osho).

Fans also get a glimpse of new characters for season two, including new Constable Shane (Frank Blake) and siblings Lee (Seamus O'Hara) and Mags (Seána Kerslake).

The new episodes will follow Grace, Annie and Tommy a year after the events of the last season, with the officers faced with a gangland feud that culminates in a "violent and devastating confrontation".
"Tensions are high," Helen says in the trailer. "We're policing an area that could explode at a
ny minute, and we're flying completely blind."

s1 is on iPlayer if haven’t seen and def need to watch it before s2

@shearwater2 when a subsequent series starts I usually go back to the episode recaps from before, just for a quick refresh. It helps.

Gerry dying was one of those drama events that stunned everyone at the time. It was all the more memorable because Sandra, his wife, now widow, had to process the person responsible. I think she’s custody sergeant. Because we’d seen the love in their relationship, the emotions in that scene were incredible and so well portrayed. I think I actually cried. It’s a scene that drama students should learn from.

Totally agree!

Yes, that was what I meant.

Meh. It doesn't give anything away.

Opinion that gives no plot away is not a spoiler.

diddl · 01/05/2024 15:21

Murray was in S1 as well-don't remember him!

Agreed, but sometimes people follow up a post like that with specific info about later episodes, which those of us who have actively chosen to post in the non-spoiler thread are trying to avoid.

Piggywaspushed · 01/05/2024 16:41

I noticed Murrsy in series 1. He was less foreground though.

Do you know , it took me til the final episode of series 1 to realise Sandra was Gerry's wife. I thought he just was charming, and flirted with her!

BIWI · 01/05/2024 17:42

Any comment that relates to the whole series, and not the specific episode we're watching/discussing could be a potential spoiler - and really isn't necessary.

There was a 'blink and you'd miss it' bit in S1 episode one where someone expressed shock at Gerry pinching Sandra's bum and then he pointed out she was his wife.

I think it took me a while till they said about going home /or for tea or something like that

Oh I watched Ep 1 about 6 months before then watching the rest so that will explain it.

They have certainly developed her role this series.

They have - interesting that she was putting in a transfer back to England in the first episode as this would suggest she wasn't in plan for future series.

Piggywaspushed · 01/05/2024 18:53

Yes, I think so. I think based on viewing figures and perhaps some audience feedback they have probably changed some plans and decisions.

shearwater2 · 03/05/2024 08:55

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2024 12:36

@shearwater2 we were in shock he died

Tho sadly also knew he died as someone posted a spoiler when they had binged the series instead of weekly and posted about his death

I suppose I just didn't feel as involved in his character as some people did here.

And in terms of recapping a series, I don't often have time, or the committment, to rewatch programmes. I had forgotten some of what happened at the end of S1 but just read about it on here and elsewhere. It's not a big deal. Plus I quite like forgetting and having an "Oh yeah!" moment when it comes back to me.

shearwater2 · 03/05/2024 08:59

Plus I quite like watching things not necessarily in the right order. With Happy Valley I ended up watching s2 first, thank goodness, as without knowing the fate of a particular character I could never have watched the more violent and shocking s1.

Though for Blue Lights I'm sticking to watching weekly and in the right order as I look forward to it on a Monday night.

That was horrible, so nasty to watch. Poor Tommy, and I hope Murray gets everything that’s coming to him

Yes!

It seemed obvious that something would happen after Murray introduced Tommy to them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/05/2024 23:31

He didn't have to do it. All for the money and thrill

What Tommy? He was told to do it by a superior officer so pretty sure he felt he did. And not sure there was any money in it given the overtime was turned down!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/05/2024 08:29

I didn't understand why the Inspector sprang into action on being told that Murray, Shane and Tommy had just left together in an unmarked car. How did she know they were still on duty? Couldn't they just have been going for a drink, or does 'unmarked' mean it's a police car in plain clothes, as it were?

Poor Tommy, I hope he's going to be OK.

martinisforeveryone · 07/05/2024 09:27

That seemed a hell of a long delay as Tommy got beaten up and people were filming rather than calling for help. He was such a lamb to the slaughter.

McNally knew they’d be going against protocol after being turned down for authorisation. Don’t you just hate Canning and how Shane’s modelling himself in the same vein. Can’t decide if he’s going to meet his comeuppance, or just keep getting worse and more powerful, maybe even turn corrupt and in league with Lee. That’s NOT a spoiler, haven’t watched ahead, just thinking on how the plot could go. We saw his scruples with Annie. I think he wants to be The Big Man and could go either way to achieve that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/05/2024 09:32

Agree we think Shane may be dodgy or happy to bend rules so how far will be go
