Is this how people from Leeds talk or unique to Ellie and Izzie (Gogglebox)

I’m referring to those sisters off Gogglebox (Ellie and Izzie).

When they have a conversation, they continuously repeat the subject matter. Example (not a real one) but just to explain what I mean:

Ellie: did you see the sausage roll at Auntie Margaret’s house the other day?

Izzie: no I didn’t see the sausage roll at Auntie Margaret’s house… did she have a sausage roll there? I love a sausage roll but I always try and get one from the local bakery but they never have the sausage rolls there. Auntie Margaret just loves her sausage rolls but I need my sausage rolls to have enough meat, I do.

I’m not sure if I’m explaining it well but I’m just curious is this way of talking unique to these sisters or is it more of a local way of speaking?

Yes, they're very likeable. Stephen was hilarious and Pete and Sophie. I like Giles and Mary.

The Siddiquis are lovely. Quietly funny. I'd like to watch telly with them.

@darkchocolatecoffee

Auburn Durham girl - yes I think she also didn’t know who the prime minister was…

There was a point, not that long ago, when it was difficult to keep up with that! 🌹

Me too! Very quick witted - especially daddy Siddiqui. 🌹

Daddy Siddiqui is brilliant.

UraniumArthur · 21/03/2024 08:11

I find it soothing watching functioning relationships.

Me too! I think it is genuinely lovely to see people getting along and clearly caring a great deal about each other.

That's why I like the Siddiquis and the 3 brothers so much - there seems to be such strong bonds between them.

SlackAlice1 · 21/03/2024 08:24

The Siddiquis are lovely men. I have a crush on the older brother. He doesn’t seem to be on it as much now.

TinselSniffer · 21/03/2024 08:56

I think Pete and Sophie are really funny too.

Another vote of love for the Siddiquis and also for their cat. And for Dave the dog. And for that rather alarming but lovely large grey dog that belongs to one of the Newcastle? girls.

JustDanceAddict · 21/03/2024 09:42

I find them really annoying 😆
i def haven’t engaged with newer cast members either like the holding hands couple, Scottish couple, mum and son.
I do like Simon and his sister, they’re a bit more ‘with it’. The Durham friends are too thick for me esp the slim one - she is clueless! The other one has a baby and TS prob her house i think.
Another one who loves the Siddiquis - and also Pete/Sophie.

Dave died. 😭 Quite recently.
As did the Brighton dad (I think? Mum is always knitting?

Gogglebox is my guilty pleasure. I love it and I don't even know why 😂

The only one (who bizarrely has gone on to fame) that I could have done without was Scarlett Moffatt. Unlike the Leeds sisters who are actually genuinely funny (and I think without realising it) Scarlett just never was and sat always not watching the telly but turned towards her parents to say something "funny" but was usually a variation on "what the fuck does that mean/is that". I don't think her parents brought a great deal to it either but they just seemed cowed in her shadow. The dad rolling his eyes and the mum lapping up her every word.

Miss Leon and June ❤️

RIP Dave 🐕

Yes. Scarlett Moffatt. Why? A complete mystery to me.

I love Ellie and Izzy - I'd love to know what Aunty Jane thinks of them haha. I actually genuinely think they have forgotten that they cameras are there, and they would genuinely have the same chats by themselves.

I adore the Siddiquis. In Richard Osman's podcast, he mentioned them a few weeks ago - said something about how there had been a tweet asking if it was possible to name three men that you'd be comfortable being alone in a room with, and how he thought the only possible reply was "the Siddiqui family from Gogglebox" - what a lovely way to describe them actually.

I like Simon and his sister (I also can't remember his name) and the welsh couple - I think they are hilarious.

I'm not a fan of Ronnie and his wife who always has to hold his hand, nor the new mum and son but they'll find their way.

I agree that Georgia and Abby (from Durham) are daft as a brush but I think that not everyone has the same level of intellect, and also they both seem so incredibly sweet and kindhearted. I'd much rather see "nice but dim" people than "intelligent arseholes" any day.

Totally agree about Georgia and Abbie, they are such sweet girls, I think the comments on here about their intelligence are really quite spiteful.

Newestname002 · 21/03/2024 15:54

I like Georgia and Abby - they seem like kind people and we could do with more kind people in a world which feels increasingly aggressive. Also like Simon and his sister Jane - a gently caring and funny pair. I'm really unsure that the Baggs family add anything - I wouldn't miss them if they left. I'll miss Marcus and Micha ("Big Mich") who are leaving/have left? I do love a bit of people watching. I do like the Malones - especially dad Tom whose dog loves him SO much. They used to have four large dogs I think - maybe they've passed on?🌹

TinselSniffer · 21/03/2024 22:01

The Baggs family haven't been on for ages, which I'm very thankful for.

Good news, then - they went in 2022 Grin
