It’s been a couple of years since we’ve seen anyone get pissed on the tasks I think.

There was one where they had to make some kind of alcohol - towards the end of the series so there were a couple of contestants manufacturung the drink and two others doing branding.

The women doing the manufacturing got wasted and missed about thirty calls from the branding team (back when they could make as many calls as necessary) who were asking for the ingredients list to put on the packaging.

I think they lost due to not having the info.

IGotItFromAgnes · 15/03/2024 10:53

There is definitely much less communication between the teams this year, isn’t there? In some of the early series they never seemed to be off the phone.

It's probably irresponsible broadcasting now

Didn't one of the candidates in the last year or two have to leave the show because he was drunk on a flight. I think he was Scottish?

I remember two women getting really tipsy during a task. It was quite funny at the time. I can’t remember the task - it wasn’t wine - maybe chocolate liquors or gin tasting.

Glittertwins · 16/03/2024 09:52

It was the gin marketing task, they were pretty drunk!

CurlewKate · 16/03/2024 10:17

I remember when you could pretend it wasn't ridiculously scripted, and the tasks were almost real. I think it's just boring now. The contestants not knowing what a jersey was kind of jumped the shark for me!

My prediction - in a year or two Suralan will decide he no longer wants to do it; it will limp on for one further series with Karren at the helm and then be mothballed - possibly to be 'rebooted' ten years later by Channel 5 in a new Love Island/Big Brother type format.

Nailed it … it’s just getting so forgettable now . Your fired was cringy too with Marney saying she’d love a night with Virdee and them all blowing smoke up his ass

PoppyAndParsnip · 16/03/2024 22:27

I agree, I do still love the show but the quality of candidates is so poor that it’s ruining everything.

This year especially Noor, Phil and Virdi… how on earth have the lasted so long!

Doingmybest12 · 18/03/2024 22:03

A bit late this week, wasn't Phil meant to be team leader this week?

Zyq · 19/03/2024 08:41

So many of these tasks are incredibly samey. Next week it's yet another "create a sales campaign" yawn. Can't we have the one where they have to choose products to sell at an exhibition or on a stall, or the telesales one?

Darklane · 19/03/2024 14:29

All Sugar knows is selling. Any engineers or inventive, creative types have no chance. They just want idiots for good tv. My DS applied a few years ago. He’s a chartered civil engineer who has since set up his own successful company, & didn’t get a look in.

6thspice · 19/03/2024 17:28

The apprentice is more scripted than you'd think. Was reading some interesting posts on Reddit.

Which is a true endorsement of his business acumen and intelligence!

My friend’s business was featured in The Apprentice many years ago.
She says that they often had to reshoot scenes , which indicates that the show is scripted to some extent

I remember reading that the boardroom alone is a full day of filming. It must be really tedious.

I also read when they are given a task, they are given a folder of pre approved names and ideas. They have to select one of each and run with it.

All of the ideas have been checked for the equivalent of copyright and pre approved by a BBC research team so they won’t be accused of infringement. Apparently the folder is the one you can sometimes see the PM holding. It’s more obvious in tasks like the Budapest one where they are given the pre approved options and they just have to choose which one to go with but it’s for most of the tasks.

That might explain why the buying and selling tasks are more entertaining as, up until this year at least, they haven’t so obviously been scripted.

billysboy · 20/03/2024 17:51

Sugars watch gives the time lapse away in the boardroom

Checking in!

Lentilweaver · 21/03/2024 21:05

Evening all. This is exactly like the dull car challenge, no?

MichaelAndEagle · 21/03/2024 21:06

Yeah another very samey task.

Sandytoxic · 21/03/2024 21:06

Maura, no. You really were lucky to escape last time.

ArticSaviour · 21/03/2024 21:06

Maura has no sense of herself, has she?

Noor is completely useless, but also completely over-confident.
