We love a ch 5 drama 😁

Too Good To Be True is a tense Channel 5 thriller starring Kara Tointon and Allen Leech.

Too Good To Be True is a four-part thriller that starts on Channel 5 on Wednesday February 14 2024 at 9pm, with the second episode on Thursday 15 February at the same time.

The series will then continue on Wednesday and Thursday the following week to finish on February 22 2024 .

Too Good To Be True is a Channel 5 thriller that sees Kara Tointon playing Rachel, a cash-strapped single mother who works all hours as a cleaner to give her son Liam a better life.

She’s thrilled when she lands a well-paid job for a wealthy client called Elliot, but when Elliot’s behaviour becomes increasingly controlling, Rachel digs into his past and discovers some dark and disturbing truths.

Downton Abbey star Allen Leech plays the secretive businessman Elliot while Cold Feet’s John Thomson is Rachel’s boss, Geoff.

Too Good To Be True follows Kara Tointon's character Rachel, a young, single mother who is constantly on the poverty line.

She works as a cleaner and one day her boss is approached by a businesswoman acting on behalf of a rich client called Elliot.

He’s a regular guest at the hotel where Rachel works and asks if Rachel can clean exclusively for him.

Rachel jumps at the chance, with the opportunity to work better hours and earn more cash proving too hard to resist.

Gradually though, Elliot’s behaviour towards Rachel and Liam raises red flags and Rachel starts to dig into his past, learning how Elliot’s childhood is the key to his obsession with her and her son.

Her first meeting with mysterious Elliot is when she is putting out some rubbish at the end of her shift and this figure pops out from behind some bins.

It’s just this passing guy who is looking after a stray kitten. She thinks that’s sweet but she’s late for her next stop, which is getting Liam to school.

Then this job opportunity comes up. She’s a bit flummoxed and a bit weirded out by it. Why her?

She arrives at this incredible mansion in a fairy-tale setting and wonders what the heck is going on.

She is now cleaning this huge, beautiful house and the guy she met a few days before is now this gorgeous Prince Charming as it were.

He’s seemingly very nice. He’s given her this shot. But she doesn’t know what to make of it. And then things start to unravel."

He's so attractive I don't want him to be bad.

feelingalittlehorse · 21/02/2024 22:40

Liam is a dish. Wish he’d be obsessed with me tbh 🤣🤣🤣

familyissues12345 · 22/02/2024 07:30

We finished it last night, no spoilers from me but I couldn't get over how tiny Liam was with such a grown up face! ConfusedGrin

In one of the ch 5 dramas - there was a lady sitting hiding behind a curtain. Called Pauline

It just really tickled us. So we mention it if it's a good drama - or a bad drama 😂

Pauline was an icon !!!

Ah thanks Blondes. Do you remember which drama? (I appreciate though that many Ch5 dramas all blend into one!)

Inkanta · 22/02/2024 10:32

Enjoyed this. Who'd have thought - Liam from Downton!

TipsySnail · 22/02/2024 10:43

Very silly but entertaining. The actor from Downton and the Imitation Game is still handsome

Etincelle · 22/02/2024 11:40

Watched 3 episodes. I guessed at the end of the second that Simone would end up a good character and it looks like it from the 'Next week" segment.
Liam was Bruce Bogtrotter in matilda the musical

Quite enjoying this now things are starting to unravel a bit . When Elliott told Rachel about what happened when he was a boy , I'm wondering if it was actually him who set the house on fire .

And why haven't we seen who often drives Rachel and Liam about ? I guess it's no-one important , not part of the story .
🤔

I wondered that too. If it was him who starts fires. Maybe that's why the forest house was razed and completely rebuilt. Due to him setting the old one alight

Etincelle · 22/02/2024 13:15

If the crosses in the forest marked human bodies, as I expect we are supposed to wonder, it would be strange for him to put a marker on where he'd buried them.

Right seen last nights

Not sure what to think

He's obv dodgy as cut own cheek

Not sure how he will show her breaking in as obv didn't in The evening

unless will use the footage of her breaking in with her in the kitchen from the afternoon

Simone seems nice and hopefully will be a goodie

He does seem too charming

I did wonder if he set the fire as a child

And the log cabin was lovely and big so why only two bedroom as he said he would sleep on the floor /camp bed

I don't think Simone seems nice!
She was obviously colluding in filming Rachel at her flat as she knew about it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/02/2024 14:57

Yes but she also said about calling police as wasn't her ex and 2 boys so she wasn't expecting that

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 22/02/2024 14:59

She did but I wouldn't exactly class that as being a goodie because she's still colluding in the illicit filming

butterpuffed · 22/02/2024 16:12

I think she's been colluding with Elliott but is starting to question what he's up to .

purpleme12 · 22/02/2024 16:16

He's definitely doing more than she knows

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/02/2024 18:30

Yes as she turned off the cameras

OP posts:
Jellykat · 22/02/2024 20:26

Find it strange that any woman (Simone) was ok with Elliot putting a hidden camera in Rachels house without her knowledge.. how did he explain that away, huge red flags!

purpleme12 · 22/02/2024 20:47

Yes she's obviously bad. Just not quite as bad as Elliott!

daffodilandtulip · 22/02/2024 20:53

She looked pissed off when she overheard him say "ask Simone". Who is she though? She seems to know a lot but not be happy about it.

I thought it was going to all be a trick and he actually was good, with a mad ex wife, but it seems it really was too good to be true.

purpleme12 · 22/02/2024 21:09

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/02/2024 18:30

Yes as she turned off the cameras

This was just now at the start of episode 4
Did you watch it earlier?
