I quite like this idea and I'm glad they're continuing the programme

I have warmed to her in GBBO and think she'll be good.

I like her a lot. But cant bear her on This Morning or GBBO. I think on For the love of dogs though, she'll be a perfect fit. Exactly who I would choose to replace Paul who I very much miss hearing on R2 Sunday teatimes.

OldTinHat · 31/01/2024 11:20

I like her and thought she was great on GBBO. I'll look forward to watching. Battersea has a chunk of cash heading their way upon my demise!

TitsInAbsentia · 01/02/2024 20:04

My grumble is she is not a dog lover, has visibly withdrawn when dogs are in this morning etc. We shall see.

Startingagainandagain · 01/02/2024 20:28

Is she a dog lover? does she have a track record of supporting animal welfare projects?

Nope.

Just seems like a random choice.

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/02/2024 20:29

Where do you know her from if not This Morning or GBBO?

Seaoftroubles · 02/02/2024 23:37

I'm glad they are continuing the programme but Paul will be a very hard act to follow. His empathy and the way he connected and bonded with the dogs was so lovely to see. I don't see Alison being a good choice but l hope l'm proved wrong.

purpleme12 · 02/02/2024 23:42

I'm not convinced about Alison (and I do like her)
But yes Paul will be an incredibly hard act to follow either way.
I'll watch it and see

RichardsGear · 02/02/2024 23:45

Hmmm. I don't think she'll be a good fit at all. Paul O'Grady is pretty much irreplaceable but I think the only other person I could imagine doing it would be Alan Carr. Or perhaps Martin Clunes.

Berlinlover · 02/02/2024 23:46

Apparently she prefers cats to dogs so she’s not a good choice really.

EachandEveryone · 02/02/2024 23:47

Surely it has to be someone who loves dogs?

NewKingontheBlock · 02/02/2024 23:47

Ridiculous choice she’s not a dog person she likes cats.

2chocolateoranges · 02/02/2024 23:48

For the love of dogs was Paul’s baby, I don’t think anyone , no matter how good a presenter, can step into his shoes at all.

Appalonia · 02/02/2024 23:51

Yes Martin Clunes would be so good, he genuinely love s dogs.

It is true

I'm not a fan of him really.

This is what I thought, you really need some who absolutely adores dogs like Paul did and that is Martin Clumes. But who knows maybe he said no!
I like Alison but not sure about this tbh.

RichardsGear · 03/02/2024 00:05

Julian Clary is a huge dog lover too (his book, The Lick of Love, is rather wonderful) and was also very good friends with PO'G. He'd be 100% better than Alison Hammond.

So too does Tom Hardy (as demonstrated when he was engulfed in a mahoosive white bulldog on the kennel floor on LoD)

Tom Hardy or Matin Clunes ................. hmmmmm

Lysianthus · 03/02/2024 00:17

I was hoping it might be Clare Balding. Really do need a passionate dog lover to follow in Paul's footsteps.

I think his sound team would have their finger hovering over the delete button nervously as he cannot help being just a bit rude Grin

Yes, he'd definitely need copious amounts of editing!

dastidlydaschel · 03/02/2024 00:22

As pp have said, I like her but not sure she's right for this as not known for being a dog lover. It needs to be an animal lover. Has anyone asked Tom Hardy.... 😍😆

AzureBlue99 · 03/02/2024 00:42

I thought it would be Amanda Holden, she is a patron at Battersea like Paul was. I don't like Amanda on BGT but really warmed to her on The Italian Job. She gets stuck in and she loves dogs. I can't see Alison Hammond getting down to the dogs level like Paul. Her size would be a hindrance there. And quite intimidating for the dogs in a small space. Don't @ me. I often marvelled at Paul's suppleness and getting on the floor with them. Martin Clunes would be a good shout.

DancingOnMoonbeams · 03/02/2024 00:52

One time on a segment with the Vet on This Morning she commented that someone who was very sad they had just lost a beloved pet 'Should just get another one'.

The Vet and Dermot were speechless!

AzureBlue99 · 03/02/2024 01:48

I know Alison is making hay whilst the sun shines but she shouldn't say yes to everything she gets offered. This show isn't right for her. You don't associate her with dog. It is just the same old ITV thing of wheeling out the same people. Bradley Walsh, Mulhern, Ant n Dec. Now Alison. Alison is getting a lot of work, she now does ad voiceovers, she can afford to just pick the right stuff.
