@Appalonia he needs her to have seen him so that she can confirm that she saw him take the shield. Otherwise he can’t prove it and they will be suspicious as to why he’s not dead yet.

I agree. Because if he isn’t murdered this time people will be even more suspicious and then banish him the next day.

Everyone knowing that Harry had the shield would mean that they wouldn’t suspect him.

Harry's not telling about the shield as the traitors are going to recruit tonight so noone will be missing at the breakfast table. He'll say it's because he had the shield and the traitor didn't know and picked him to murder. I reckon that's his strategy.
