Just checked - it's not an either or but they murdered Alex last year when she refused.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 19/01/2024 09:07

In an interview with Wilf he said the best way to win was by being friends with the Traitor and being unthreatening in that they never questioned or suspected him.

Hence Meryl, Hannah and Aaron winning despite not been particularly strategic

So it's the milder, background characters that have a better chance of winning. They aren't going to be banished or murdered.

So the blondes could be playing a blinding game unknowingly

HueyDeweyandLouie · 19/01/2024 09:09

"honestly Paul could have worn his cloak to the banishment and he’d still have defended him!" 😆

I think the Casting Producers had a 'Buy One, Get One Free' moment when they chose Diane and Ross!

Dotellhimpike · 19/01/2024 09:21

I know other have bemoaned the quiet ones who seemingly contribute nothing getting to the finals but I think it makes for an interesting "the meek shall inherit the Earth" type dynamic.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 19/01/2024 09:22

Going back a bit, on the funeral march, Diane said to (evie and?) Paul that if she dies it’s Miles.

I knew I wasn't misremembering that.

I think if you refuse the traitors offer you're murdered? Or have I got that wrong?

Not necessarily. Last year it was only in the very final stage where Wilf was able to forcibly recruit Kieran. Alex was murdered when she refused but she didn't have to be.

periodiclabel · 19/01/2024 09:27

Last year, Alex refused, told the others in the morning that she refused, and then got murdered that night – it was a sort of warning that if you refuses we will murder you, but I don’t think there’s any rule that refusal means automatic murder. Though why the producers didn’t clarify that to poor Andrew isn’t clear.

Nesbi · 19/01/2024 09:29

If someone is playing meek as a role, and if they have identified traitors but are deliberately not outing them or are staying close to them as a strategy then I think I would want to know that from their “confessional” interviews. Then I can enjoy watching if their plan works.

Im not sure if the production team would take the same view though. Would they keep that information hidden? If a faithful said “I think the traitors are Harry and Andrew but I want to survive to the end and vote them out” would they think that reveals too much about the possible end of the show, so would they be more inclined not to reveal that plan to the audience and keep them guessing instead?

Ultimately I want to feel that whoever wins put some effort into it!

She might not have been murdered if she hadn't told the others about the attempted recruitment. But the same traits that make a good Traitor make a threatening Faithful, so...

The key difference is that Paul and Harry didn't want a good Traitor. They wanted cannon fodder.

Morred · 19/01/2024 09:30

If Harry gets heat for knowing so much detail, he needs to really lean into the idea that Paul was making him a special mate because he was so threatened by Harry's awesome traitor-hunting skillz and general brilliance at tasks. It would be just true enough to say Paul was making friends with Harry to keep him onside and told Harry more than he should and that's how Harry put 2 and 2 together.

The other thing is that we get an edited boardroom, with a closeup on Harry's face while he gives his whole speech about the dungeons, and we've seen how it was planned in the traitors' tower. The other players will have heard Harry talking, amid loads of chat and little speeches from everyone round the table, while everyone is hyped up and exhausted, and so they may not get the signifance of it as quickly.

Ladybirder · 19/01/2024 09:31

I think Harry revealed too much in his speech to get Paul out. Surely the faithfuls are going to question how he knew all that and why he hadn’t raised any of it before? The only way he can save face is to maybe play the ‘Paul was so powerful’ card like Jaz.
I think someone said ‘the faithfuls have got an another traitor out’. No - it’s been the traitors getting traitors out and handing them to the faithfuls on a plate - Paul and Harry led the charge with ash and miles, and Harry has now done the same for Paul. The faithfuls on the whole have been rubbish (except jaz and Zack).

NonPlayerCharacter · 19/01/2024 09:34

I wonder what caused Charlotte's U turn. Maybe hearing lots of people suspect Paul made her question herself.

SpttyMaldoon · 19/01/2024 09:34

Can I say, I know there’s still 4 episodes left but the Ross Diane combo has had no impact on the game whatsoever.

Other than the jaw dropping moment when we found out, it really hasn’t mattered at all, from the producers perspective it seems pointless so have chosen them.

This is spot on - now the more astute faithfuls need to work this out, that the traitors have been getting the traitors out, hence Harry is a traitor. Jaz surely will work this out?

But would they think he has the guts to do 2 in a row?

DontBeAPrickDarren · 18/01/2024 22:36

The problem is people don’t put enough store in what they say! Zack has been right on more things that the rest put together.

Zack has been right but I suspect he spends all day theorising about everyone and everything so people don’t know which bits to listen to.

If I had been in there from the start I think I would have found Jaz sus in the beginning (as he looks like he’s sitting and plotting!) but I think he’s proven himself as being a lone voice spotting Paul’s act from early on. I think he just got blindsided by Miles being a generally nice bloke. Andrew will want to have him done away with one way or another though as Jas has pointed the finger at him.

Must be such a pressure cooker in there! It would shake you that people like Miles & Paul could be so nice & friendly, yet working against you. Harry fits that bill so should start to get some heat.

Also loved Ross’s wink to camera, he may be a total muppet when it comes to traitor hunting but he’s a nice lad.

Yes, and Andrew was astute enough to know that and shield himself. They also knew he was really hacked off at being chosen which they didnt expect!

He seems a real sweet man who still didnt throw Paul under the bus last night, kept to what his "faithful" brain thought.

commonground · 19/01/2024 09:46

I wonder why Paul didn't come back at Harry more. He kind of knew the game was up for him but I thought he might have tried to bring Harry down with him - eg, ask how Harry had it all figured out/you seem to know quite a lot etc- just sow those seeds...

I can't see how anyone would think Ross is a traitor now. Only someone who was truly clueless would have stuck up for Paul so adamantly.

Turkeyhen · 19/01/2024 09:50

@commonground good point, Paul could easily have fired back to sow seeds of suspicion around Harry but he didn’t - he knew the game was up and didn’t ruin it for Harry

EveryDayIsASchoolDayOnMN · 19/01/2024 09:50

Yes, Ross is definitely this years Hannah.

Though to give him a bit of credit, he kept with his gut feeling that everyone says to go with. Even though his guts betrayed him 😀

He wasn't a sheep (sorry Brian)

Turkeyhen · 19/01/2024 09:51

Ross is just a lovely bloke. The wink to camera was a brilliant moment 😂 And he was so genuinely apologetic to Jaz after the round table.

Sadly, that might be his undoing. He hasn't switched mental gears to being a Traitor and possibly never will. And although he now knows what Harry did, he hasn't "felt" it, so he might not realise just how ruthless and self-serving Harry is, nor be in the right mindset to fight fire with fire.

From his reaction last night and seeing him on Uncloacked, he really didn’t see it coming from Harry and I think he didn’t have time to quickly attack back.

imagine your brain having to process this sudden betrayal while coming up with an attack plan and also keep defending yourself from other accusations.

my head would explode.

sashagabadon · 19/01/2024 09:58

I think the producers were hoping for the traitors to recruit either Diane or Ross. That could have been interesting.
but that didn’t happen which I guess is what makes the show ultimately interesting in that the producers can’t really direct what happens and it is v random
