Probably it if they had any sense they’d have sorted a private code between them before going in to communicate this.

And that's why if I were a producer, I would keep them both as Faithful.

CrapBucket · 06/01/2024 18:06

I don’t think any extra rules apply to ‘Diana Ross’ as they are called on Uncloaked - it’s up to them surely to decide what to tell each other, if they get the chance, and want to risk being overheard. Agree if I was on as a couple I’d have loads of codes worked out in advance.

MotherofGorgons · 07/01/2024 07:57

Do you all like the shields concept? I don't. Just confuses the whole situation.

StrangeNew · 07/01/2024 08:10

The shields aren’t well thought out this season. I was listening to The Traitors Uncloaked podcast yesterday where people agreed that because participants retrieve them in front of competitors it makes no sense to then give them the option of keeping quiet about having one. Because everyone else would either already know or would find out through gossip. They also remarked that it would be more effective game playing if Traitors didn’t know who held a shield, and might thus waste a murder on someone who’s immune that night.

I’d hope they’ll re-think before S3.

They do just add pointless confusion. What’s the use, if a shield protects you from murder but makes it probably more likely you’ll be banished by resentful fellow players?

CaveMum · 07/01/2024 08:43

I suspect as the herd thins out it will be easier for people to get Shields and keep it hidden from others. My thought is that they’ve made them “obvious” in the first few games to firmly plant the seed in everyone’s mind that they are available to all. Then as the games switch up/groups get smaller there will be more opportunities to grab one on the quiet. The whole point of the game is to sow suspicion

crabbyoldbat · 07/01/2024 08:49

They had that option after the bird call game - could gave effectively given immunity from murder to 9 outside players, but the 3 who won announced it immediately. On the other hand, Paul was among them and might have precipitated that (can't remember) - and just being there, he'd have known anyway. Could throw a little suspicion on him, I suppose, but he's such a 'nice guy' perhaps they won't notice.

StrangeNew · 07/01/2024 08:51

Maybe, @CaveMum

I’m enjoying the thought of the next level poker faces that might be required if the Traitors murder X - and then encounter X at breakfast the next morning. (Because X had a secret shield.)

(I know they had shields in that ‘competing teams on an island’ show recently. I don’t know how it worked out because I only watched a couple of episodes.)

NonPlayerCharacter · 07/01/2024 08:54

I guess that's the risk you have to take. But Faithful shouldn't be banishing people they're pissed off with, they should be banishing people they think are Traitors.

Morred · 07/01/2024 09:37

They keep saying things like getting a shield is “traitor behaviour” as well, which makes no sense. Traitors don’t need a shield AND want to get everyone to like them AND want to build the prize pot, so they’re the least likely to get a shield. And while they might do a double bluff and take one to throw suspicion off them, that won’t work if the rest of the group turn on those who get shields for not playing a “team game”.

It’s really interesting how easily contestants get sucked into thinking Claudia acts as a sorting hat and identifies “evil” people to be the traitors, rather than it all being done to make the most interesting game overall. (Sonja, for instance, was gagging to be a traitor I think, which is what made everyone suspicious of her.)

NonPlayerCharacter · 07/01/2024 10:25

Well one of the problems is that everyone has a motive for doing everything. Getting a shield isn't proof either way. And it isn't really a team game overall. You need to stay in to win whoever you are, so everyone will screw over someone else if it comes down to you or them.

Dryupyourdesertwithtears · 07/01/2024 10:46

They should have made Jaz a traitor! He just goes under the radar

I loved it when he got accused at Round Table and just shrugged it off. Nah don’t need to respond. Wish I was like that.

Yep -even the team of traitors is not a team, Paul and Harry can’t wait for Ash to leave, they must think it will mean more money for them. However I reckon at this stage they would be told to recruit another traitor. So it would be less effort for them to support each other than to have to bring in a new traitor.

Dryupyourdesertwithtears · 07/01/2024 11:03

I wonder if seeing them both be so sneaky will make Miles take a step back? I want him to win.

NashvilleQueen · 07/01/2024 11:08

I agreed with Paul and Harry voting for Ash int he second round. She's so obviously a traitor that not voting for her makes it more suspicious that they're defending her for their own interests. She wouldn't last long anyway because she's a terrible liar so this way they are seen to be part of the faithful group.

StrangeNew · 07/01/2024 11:09

I guess by definition the original Traitors are the least team-player-y of the whole group.

Morred · 07/01/2024 22:16

I meant “team player” specifically on missions - traitors are motivated to get the prize money as high as possible, and must think (early on at least) that they have less chance of leaving the show. They can’t be killed, only banished, whereas faithfuls can be killed or banished.

CaveMum · 09/01/2024 14:50

Highly recommend todays episode of The Rest is Entertainment (podcast), they discuss Traitors and Richard Osman talks about how he’d play it as a Traitor. Very funny, and interesting.

Stowickthevast · 09/01/2024 15:13

@NashvilleQueen but if they didn't vote for her, she wouldn't have got enough votes to go. No-one would blame anyone for who they vote in a three-way split especially after Brian's meltdown.

They would have been better off keeping her to take the heat, and turn on her the next day when she's got a clear majority.

MotherofGorgons · 10/01/2024 09:37

Can't wait for tonight's episode to see if Ash survived. Tho I actually want both Ash and Diane to survive.

Are there 3 episodes released tonight?

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 10/01/2024 09:48

@MotherofGorgons same!

I am sure I saw somewhere on this thread (maybe) that they only release one a night this week. I may be wrong though.

Yes for the continued entertainment of the show, it would be best if Brian left. We need to see the Asha showdown and more of 'Diana Ross' !

NonPlayerCharacter · 10/01/2024 10:25

I want Ash banished. She's no good as a Traitor and I don't find her very interesting to watch, plus I find it satisfying when the Faithful successfully root out a Traitor. And I think Brian deserves another chance.

But if she's not, I guess that'll make good TV later in the turret.

Was there a cutaway scene with Brian during the round table? There was one with Ash, but I don't recall there being one with him. If not, does that mean he's gone?

martinisforeveryone · 10/01/2024 10:45

I think that in the second round table vote two, everyone who voted for Ash, Brian or Diane stuck with their original choice. Anthony had voted for Diane at the first round table, but not in the first vote of the second one, he voted for Zack, which is why it’s such a big cliffhanger. We’ve seen him approach her to clear the air and start over. Diane’s still suspicious of him, but changed her vote to Ash this time.

He’s the chess coach, well versed in strategy, it’s fascinating to think about what decision he made, not knowing it’d be screened as the casting vote. The director and producers must know all the votes before they decide which order to show them, but what a gift of an outcome. I literally can’t wait.

Dogsitterwoes · 10/01/2024 10:48

I can't get all the men's names straight but I feel sorry for the one who has slightly pink ears and his portrait has been done with incredibly bright red ears on it. Unneccessary.
