Just seen this on other thread

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/4975089-traitors-season-2-starts-this-week?reply=131994254&utm_campaign=reply&utm_medium=share

So looks like won't be an iPlayer batch release next week, just TV pace

I cant see the relevant comment? Just goes straight to start of thread.

ZenNudist · 05/01/2024 21:58

I'm hooked. I think the line up is better than season 1. They have a few "characters" this time (Aubrey! Tracey!) But not as many as last time and they are going for less obvious reality TV types. In fact I'd go as far as to say they aren't all arseholes. A lot of the are more clued up than last time and playing the game a bit better.

I hate all that fake hugging and pretending they like each other.

We were in uproar at the cliffhanger. I really want Brian to go but think Ash should go. She's looked guilty from the moment she was made traitor and handled being asked "are you a traitor?" By the mad older lady really badly. Diane comes across really devious. I want her to stay as its interesting seeing her and Ross back each other up.

It's obvious the traitors have to turn on each other and the only purpose traitors serve for other traitors is cannon fodder so they don't get banished early. In Paul's case he'd love to be the only traitor. If I were Miles and the other one I'd work out how to get rid of him but they don't realise he's the WORST!

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit I think it was meant to link to my comment which contained this

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 05/01/2024 22:20

Oh hi @CaveMum gutted!

KingsleyBorder · 06/01/2024 11:18

Weird that two of them are vet nurses!

I enjoyed Brian with his bonkers “I am or I amn’t” breakdown. I grew up in Scotland but don’t live there any more and I haven’t heard “I amn’t” for years. I wonder if half of them even understood what he was saying? I reckon there was a bit edited out where someone went “I have literally no idea what you are asking us Brian”.

MotherofGorgons · 06/01/2024 11:22

I think Paul being voted most popular has put a target on his back, and its only a matter of time before people realise he is a Traitor. Though, as I said, I so much prefer his smiling assassin personality to Wilf's crocodile tears.

I do hope the smart ones win this time and not the stupidest like last year.

determinedtomakethiswork · 06/01/2024 11:23

I always wonder with this program, which I really love, how they prevent traitors from giving the game away when they get chucked out. For example, if one traitor said something or looked in a particular way, when another traitor gave their name, how would the producers prevent that happening?

MotherofGorgons · 06/01/2024 11:40

@determinedtomakethiswork that's exactly what happened in S 1 with Kieran! They couldn't prevent it.

KingsleyBorder · 06/01/2024 12:03

Does anyone know if Dianne and Ross are banned from telling the other if one of them becomes a traitor?

StrangeNew · 06/01/2024 12:18

I would think they must be, @KingsleyBorder. They haven’t been introduced to the others as a team - so it would be tremendously unfair for them to be allowed such a huge advantage.

And it would surely be much more entertaining to see one of the pair trying to keep their Traitor status secret from the other!

(Obviously I don’t actually know what the producers intend!)

CrapBucket · 06/01/2024 12:54

I’m really enjoying it so far. Now that they know what happens in the event of a tie, if I was a traitor I’d suggest they plan to stick with their first vote if that person is in the tie, otherwise go alphabetically. So it would have been

Harry - vote Ash
Miles - vote Brian
Paul - vote Diane

I am sure Anthony will vote Diane, I would like to see Brian stay just to see what bonkers thing he says next- on the other hand I’d like to see Ash stay so she can have a row about her back stabbing fellow traitors.

Did anyone else get a racist vibe from Diane? I would have hated to have her as a teacher. Anthony has done nothing wrong and she is so against him. I also didn’t like her playing the menopause card. She’s 63 surely the menopause is way in the past by then?!?!

StrangeNew · 06/01/2024 13:09

Yes to your final paragraph, @CrapBucket.

Raised an eyebrow at her instant disparagement of Anthony.

Menopause symptoms doesn’t necessarily end, but her remark was a crass way to deflect attention. All participants are entitled to assume that other participants are cognitively capable of playing the game.

I don’t like her At All.

NonPlayerCharacter · 06/01/2024 13:24

Did anyone else get a racist vibe from Diane?

I really don't think so. A few people said Anthony's demeanour had changed. He's a chess coach so he's obviously very intelligent and as a former teacher, Diane is probably used to being the most knowledgeable person in the room so there might be a clash there. She doesn't seem to have any issue with any of the other black players.

StrangeNew · 06/01/2024 13:31

IIRC people responded to what Diane said, by agreeing with her. 🐑🐑🐑

She’s clearly dangerously influential.

CrossPurposes · 06/01/2024 13:45

I really don't think it's on to accuse someone of racism based on a highly edited and selective version of that person.

MotherofGorgons · 06/01/2024 13:54

I think she is just a bit didactic, that's all. And very bossy.

StrangeNew · 06/01/2024 13:56

People speak as they find, @CrossPurposes. It’s a TV show - were supposed to have opinions on the participants. People who take part will be aware that what is shown of them will be edited - and that strangers will speculate based on what they see.

I don’t think it’s up to any other viewer to police my impression of someone appearing on a TV show!

CrapBucket · 06/01/2024 14:24

I know it’s highly edited etc, regardless of that, I felt uncomfortable watching Diane’s behaviour towards Anthony. She was critical of how he behaved in the line outside, at that point none of them were traitors. So her reason for wanting him out was that she disliked him and nothing to do with whether or not he could be a traitor.

When he defended himself she led the group consensus towards ‘he was so smiley on the train yet he’s so defensive in the castle’. Maybe she is not racist but it reminded me of the awful racist ‘angry black man stereotype’.

StrangeNew · 06/01/2024 14:27

Yup.

Theatrefan12 · 06/01/2024 14:57

Either Diane is genuinely horrible or she is getting a bad edit as she is not coming across well at all. Wouldn’t jump to racist at this point but she definitely has an agenda against Anthony

That's kind of where I went with her too, sadly.

Does anyone know if Dianne and Ross are banned from telling the other if one of them becomes a traitor?

Probably it if they had any sense they’d have sorted a private code between them before going in to communicate this.
