The Tourist - Season 2

I've been looking forward to this so much. Especially after the massive cliff hanger it was left on. I knew through interviews he's done that it didn't pick up in Australia again, but I'm disappointed so far. I can't seem to get into it and it seems so grey. Maybe I need to leave it and come back to it.

Can I post spoilers on this thread PLEASE!

The whole thread is spoilers, so not sure why you are asking!

As said up thread there is a No Spoilers thread elsewhere on telly addicts.

Finished. A bit bonkers really! But the last scene. Am I meant to notice something???

When the papers are burning, you see a paper that says he was a secret agent. So not an evil people trafficker at all.

chickenpieandchips · 09/01/2024 08:10

@Copen aaah!
But he must have still done all the evil stuff too though because everyone said he did.

My major gripe as mentioned on the other thread... They all had different Irish and northern Irish accents but all seem to have come from the same area of Ireland. Do they think we don't notice (DH is from NI and I'm fascinated by all the slightly different accents from place to place).

SoFar2024IsABitCrap · 09/01/2024 08:14

I enjoyed it, and it had nothing, I say nothing, to do with Jamie Dornan being in it.😍

SheilaFentiman · 09/01/2024 08:19

Exactly @chickenpieandchips !

If he was undercover at the time of the drugs/Lena thing, then that’s implausibly awful on the part of mi5 or whatever.

If he wasn’t but became so after that, then he still did the evil things!

SheilaFentiman · 09/01/2024 08:21

And also, I’m pretty sure mi5 would have been keeping track of him and not letting him wander round the world for a couple of years.

Also - as if the file would just get posted to Helen!

It was a throwaway “line” that made no sense.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 09/01/2024 08:26

FFS - there's no spoiler warning for this thread. How bloody annoying to be enjoying the chat and then have folk post spoilers.

Heyhoitsme · 09/01/2024 08:34

I have lived in Ireland all my life. If I was going by the way its portrayed in The Tourist I'd be scared to visit. Our people are friendly, and our pubs are bright and welcoming. I'm sure the Tourist board are cringing at this drama.

Sorry.

As per a PP, someone started a no spoiler thread.

A lot of threads in Telly Addicts are titled No Spoilers, tv pace. This one isn’t. The whole thing dropped on iplayer on Jan 1 so I have no idea what the TV pace is.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 09/01/2024 08:49

You might check with those on the thread before you post? This was the only thread I had seen. While it may be a convention to a degree to have spoiler and non spoiler threads about the same shows, it's not universal. The thread title should be changed to make it clear there may be spoilers posted imho.

SoFar2024IsABitCrap · 09/01/2024 09:20

MI5 wouldn’t let him do this and that, people will be put off Ireland.

It’s just a tv show 😄

It’s not real 😮

To be fair the first one wasn’t exactly a brilliant advert for Australia either.

Re the accents that happens in every show, you only notice it if it’s in your area, just look at the thread about the Raoul Moat dramatisation yet I doubt most of the population can tell the difference between an accent from Sunderland and Newcastle.

duc748 · 09/01/2024 10:08

Surely it's fair to say on MN that if a TV thread thread doesn't specifically have "TV pace- NO SPOILERS" in the title (as many do), then There Will Be Spoilers?

duc748 · 09/01/2024 10:11

So is S3 going to be themed on Moonlighting? 😃

Exactly - you open a thread at your own risk if it's all available for download (and has been for a few days) and you haven't seen it. Stick to marked 'no spoiler threads otherwise.

💯 fair to say

I actually didn’t post any spoilers before this exchange, @MotherOfGodWeeFella

Not sure what MN view you are using, but that post is at the top of p4 for me and then a few posts about the ending (including mine) came after it.

I’ve not liked him that much before but thought him really good in this

It was pretty good. What about the woman with the stomach he wouldn’t have actually done that or did I misunderstand the ending

LoreleiG · 12/01/2024 09:05

I loved it! So dark and funny. Obviously am aware a lot of the casting was caricature. But that added to the comedy. Ethan made me laugh out loud a lot, and Ruarie. I thought that’s what it said in the burning file but wasn’t sure.

I love Helen - what a fantastic actor and if you have watched Season 1 it makes sense why they are together IMO.

duc748 · 12/01/2024 10:51

One thing puzzled me, or I missed it; that file at the end (that ended up on the fire), where did it come from? Did we see?

No, Helen just said “ someone sent me a file” - it was all bullshit, if it was classified info, no one would send it and if it wasn’t “a retired spy sent me a file” is a very different statement!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2024 22:18

@Mintyt

You need to see 123

4 is on Sunday

It was so dingy in some of the interiors

ArcaneWireless · 13/01/2024 14:24

Loved it.

Adore Helen.

Gone right aff pork and beans though…

Roll on series 3.
