I've been looking forward to this so much. Especially after the massive cliff hanger it was left on. I knew through interviews he's done that it didn't pick up in Australia again, but I'm disappointed so far. I can't seem to get into it and it seems so grey. Maybe I need to leave it and come back to it.

Loved season 1 but not liking season 2 at all....
3 episodes in. It's too dark and trying too hard.....is it worth persisting with ? Will there be a season 3 ?

Custardpudding · 05/01/2024 21:34

Finished it and loved it. A bit crackers at times. But great.

SheilaFentiman · 05/01/2024 21:39

I didn’t like the ending TBH.

IwantToRetire · 06/01/2024 00:05

I finished it and thought it very disappointing.

There was so much in the plot line that could have been both funny and tragic that it really didn't need all the pathetic school boy gun culture set pieces.

So tedious.

Spoiler alert!

As the second series was to take up from the last one, it could have been really interesting about finding your identity. ie your early life is influenced by your family, its violence and criminality and then when you lose that memory it turns out you aren't actually that sort of person at all.

And all that carry on about family and blood relatives then it turned out that some of them weren't even part of either family ie Elliot was in fact probably the son of the diver killed by his mother, who turned out not to be a Cassidy but a secret love child of a McDonald.

I think the Garda sub plot of the dead wife was just dire and a copy from another series and was a complete waste of time. And dragging Helen's ex from the other side of the world was just pointless. Except of course his oppressive tracking app which was useful.

Shame that what could have been quite interesting was basically just a send up.

Disappointed.

SheilaFentiman · 06/01/2024 09:52

I assumed Niamh married a Cassidy, since the boys had the Cassidy surname, but then she seemed to be the matriarch of it all and nothing was ever said about her husband.

I would also like to know what work Helen and/or Elliott were doing back home!

Do you mean in the flat with the beeping oven?

I don't think they went back home and that it was a "dream" sequence and the beeping represent the life support machine beeps?????

There's a non spoiler thread on telly addicts. Should be easy to find.

Just finished it and I laughed out loud at the reveal! And then the second reveal - opens it up for a third season ...
I thought there was plenty of chemistry between the two leads.

Not that was Helen's dream / nightmare whilst under sedation or still concussed.

The end sequence they were in Amsterdam and Helen in contrast to her dream, was obviously off out and working and making contacts, while he was sitting at home sulking (or being sad about still not remembering his early years). But Helen, go getter that she is, had found someone who had a theatre, and was allowed to use it so as to see if given the opportunity he could remember to perform ballet as this mother had said how brilliant he had been at it as a child.

So series 3, Elliot enters the arts industry and then ... who knows. But no more stupid guns and bearded men looking like a panto about the Wild West!

I didn’t like the last minute reveal. It doesn’t seem to tie with Lena and her friends who died at all.

thought the comedy ex was great and so welcome for some light relief. I loved when he mansplained mansplaining. I thought the weaving in of him lecturing toxic masculinity while still making the same mistakes was funny and tied in nicely with the more subtle situation of the father and grandfather of the young boy trying to mould him to be just like them and their version of what a man should be when he was actually quite a gentle soul, which is how toxic masculinity perpetuates.

I was trying to say something like this but couldn't really articulate it.

What you have said is really good.

And what made me think that a third series (if they give up the stupid school boy gun scenes) could make a really interesting drama with both laughs and tears about who we really are, and in a strange way, that loosing your memory gives you an opportunity to do that.

Mangolover123 · 07/01/2024 23:06

Just finished and I loved it.
Ethan and the Gaurda reminded me of the Meercat and Wombat but I loved their relationship.
I laughed a fair bit. Looking forward to series 3.

Shoppingfiend · 08/01/2024 07:34

I was really disappointed - all so far fetched and so many threads they tied it in knots.
And the changing hair colour - suddenly he has black hair and beard, then he hasn't repeat. And bringing in the husband - why? he really wasn't that funny. More silly.

What husband?

oldwhyno · 08/01/2024 10:48

enjoyed the first series, but was totally bored by this one. lasted 3 eps, but then ditched it. life's too short.

SheilaFentiman · 08/01/2024 10:57

hogmanayhoolie · 08/01/2024 10:38

What husband?

PP means Helen’s ex fiancé

EveryDayIsASchoolDayOnMN · 08/01/2024 11:16

On Ep 3, loving the black humour and the dialogue between Elliot and Ethan - both have great comic timing

And the more Helen is on screen, the more beautiful I think she is.

hogmanayhoolie · 08/01/2024 11:56

@SheilaFentiman Oh Ethan. I wondered if I'd missed something

Shoppingfiend · 08/01/2024 12:47

hogmanayhoolie · 08/01/2024 10:38

What husband?

Sorry, Helen’s partner

spottedinthewilds · 08/01/2024 20:35

Well I enjoyed it (but I do fancy the absolute pants off JD).

I liked the little comedy bits, some of which made me laugh out loud,

The end scenes made me cringe though!

And the final scene - I don't get it!!

chickenpieandchips · 08/01/2024 23:02

Finished. A bit bonkers really! But the last scene. Am I meant to notice something???

cherrypickles · 08/01/2024 23:08
