If the judges hadn’t over-scored and over-praised RAngela every week she might have been more popular, but their/the producers “Must get Angela to Blackpool by giving her nice slow dances” favouritism has probably done her no favours.

Yes she’s astonishingly lithe for a 79-year old but that’s not enough to win a popularity contest.

What are the chances Kai sticks at least one more extended developpe into next week’s dance, whatever it happens to be?

Krishan was the spirit of strictly but that doesnt usually last longer than a few weeks

Wow the last thread went by in the link of an eye!

I thought KGM did better in dance off but there wasn't much in it between them. Anyone else and Angela would have had to go. His speech at the end was lovely.

When Lauren joined I thought fantastic they have an older dancer to partner some of the older contestants. I put her late forties/early fifties. Turns out she's 32!!! 😬

I don't think Lauren looks older than her age, it's just the styling. I find it refreshing; a lovely looking female pro who hasn't got the long waves etc, pretty as they are. Not including Karen, who's had various different looks over the years, they're otherwise blonde, brunette or redhead versions of each other (on the set of Strictly at least).

As for last night's result, it's a shame in some ways, but Krishnan didn't have much further to go and although I'm not a fan of AR, technically she was better, bar the bit where she almost fell on her arse at the end. Maybe the judges score tactically sometimes, which is also the way the public votes, so I wouldn't call it a fix. The right people end up in the final, more or less, every single time, then it's down to the public vote.

Just rewatched that bit with Bobby’s sleeping partner- all a bit odd!

I also think she was better than Krishnan. I did think the week before Adam should have been saved but this week the right decision was made.

I think the hate on Angela is awful. I am far from a fan of hers but to be doing what she is doing at 79 is brilliant.

Well Krishnan won't have much time to think about it, as Braverman has been sacked today,and he will be busy, Must have ruined his Diwali weekend, though.

I think what he said in his tweet about allowing himself to be vulnerable was so true and lovely. I always like when intelligent, "intellectual" people with no dance background let loose. Ed Balls too.

I don't think people are hating on Angela, it's the fact that she's been consistently unfairly marked they object to. Personally, I've found her quite irritating at times and last week she was clearly not pleased by the judges' less than glowing critiques. The steely look in her eye said it all.

I agree. I think Lauren looks great with short hair and good on her for daring to wear it thar way rather than the seemingly obligatory but boring long hair.

Lauren looks fabulous and sassy. I love her. Great addition. I hope she gets a ringer next year.

Angela definitely was steely eyed. And apparently surprised the judges had anything negative to say.

I wonder if that's just her face, though. I have a similar face to AR, square jawed and with quite strong features, and people are always telling me I look pissed off. It's got worse as I age!

i admire AR , but this whole keeping her safe, so all her dances are slow annoys me.
she signed up for it and its supposed to be a competition . its not fair that she just gets to do slow dances.
Im not a Bobby fan, didn't like his mum (yep sad she died young) and what I have read on here makes his dad sound awful. to be fair I don't watch EE though. so can't say if he is good at acting.

Since Zara left, there was no-one left in the competition that I hadn't warmed to on some level. I like Angela Scanlon's personality more than I like her dancing. I like Bobby's dancing more than I like his personality.

As for Angela Rippon, I think she has a dancer's brain and you can see that she at least knows what the technique should be. IMO, she's technically better than Annabel, Bobby and the other Angela, she's more consistent than Nigel and she captures the flavour of each dance better than Layton. But the real reason I am enjoying her in the competition is that she does make a change from all the nicey-niceyness and 'isn't it all lovely'ness of celebs on Strictly who need the show for their careers. I love the death-stares at the judges and the slightly mental VT's and the leisure suits.

Of all the potential winners though, I am going for Ellie. Also, unless she does something spectacular or completely insane at Blackpool, as Angela Rippon is toast with the other viewers, I will probably be switching my vote to Annabel, unless Ellie really needs it.

Know what you mean, I have same; resting bitch face, as they say- but last week Angela had the look of a baby boomer in a supermarket who's just been told the delivery's late and her favourite chocolate biscuits won't be on the shelves before teatime. This week she was more careful, but still. You cain't hide your lyin' eyes.

Angela R is a complete diva. You can just tell she votes Tory and supports brexit. I can’t bear her.

layton is brilliant, obviously, because it’s his actual paid job.

I was sad KGM left. I hope Annabel makes the final, she needs a week where she suddenly improves loads, though, as does sometimes happen. I think she’s lovely, and how sad about her husband. Johannes is doing a great job with her imo.

I like Annabel as a person, but I have been disappointed by her dancing, as it's always a bit too placed and sedate, plus she seems to forget her routine halfway through. I haven't voted for her, as a result.

How on earth can you think beautiful Lauren was that age? Better get to Specsavers!!

Late to the party as I keep having to watch on Sunday nights.

Nigel was odd, I thought; I'm afraid he's not slim enough to pull off the Gene Kelly polo-shirt look and just looked like someone's dad off to mow the lawn. His 'routine' didn't meld together IMO; I felt like Katya got him to show her all the tricks and individual moves he could do and just strung them together. Rubbish music too.
Ellie and Vito were beautiful. I am still not loving her, though, even though I can see she's a great dancer and getting better.
Liked Angela S. Couldn't see the gapping. Lovely dress, lovely atmosphere, not sickly like a lot of their routines.
Punched the air when Annabel was on. Great to see her let rip. She looked amazing in that dress too.
Bobby: didn't get it. Felt it was a step back from last week, when he looked like a grown-up for the first time. Too much running about and too much like a contempowaft.
Layton: nice to see two men dancing the AT. He was terrific (of course) but I agree with Craig it had too much attack and not enough intimacy. It didn't give me the 'watching-through-the-keyhole' feeling. Wasn't helped by a frenetic and truly terrible song.
Didn't mind Angela R and thought she was genuinely better than Krishnan in terms of knowing and (largely) nailing the technique.
Krishnan didn't give me 'joy of dance' vibes this week, for the first time; I got the impression he was really challenged by the samba and realised it would be his swan song.
His Tweet is beautiful and Lauren is a class act all round.
I didn't recognise Andrea Bocelli, missed the intro and thought they were some talent-show winners It is toe-curling watching kids sing that song, solemnly and reverentially. So inappropriate.
Looking forward to the Wham! jive and whatever big number they give Angela R; dreading Layton's CC, which will just be strutting and vogueing and will get four 10s.

I also thought Lauren was older like Kai she has that old fashioned look.

I think all young women today are expected to have long hair and older women to have shorter hair. If you break these style rules, you must be a transwoman. A pity.
