Susan’s quickstep with Kevin was memorable. Wasn’t it her wife’s favourite song and their wedding song? She performed so well.

Yes, I think it was. I love Susan!

I feel like Lauren didn't actually like Krishnan that much.

What makes you think that? They always seemed happy together imo

Lentilweaver · 12/11/2023 21:03

I think she liked him, but could still be relieved, because he was reaching the end of his capabilities, given his health.

Aquarius1234 · 12/11/2023 21:07

I just don't think she liked him in a crazy love you way.
They seem polls apart.
Not one of those we clicked instantly friendships.

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 21:12

It will be interesting which female pro gets benched next year when hopefully Amy is back. Lauren has done well. Luba did good by Adam.
Maybe if they can get a same sex female partnership (come on Sue Perkins, I'd love to see you on there) they'll only have to bench two (poor Michelle).
Unless you all called it right and it was Karen's last series.

What makes you say that?

They seem very positive on social media, and I doubt Krishnan would have been so complimentary about her if he thought Lauren didn't like him.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/11/2023 21:12

I'd prefer couples to be professionally friendly than slobbering over each other.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 12/11/2023 21:15

My take now is Kai was writing Lauren a letter apologising for doing her legs and getting to Blackpool when it should have been her. 😂 😂

Thanks for new thread :)

Just caught up with last one... oh, the anger! The outrage! I can't stop laughing. Was skimming last thread before work first thing this morning and thought a pp said, "so Angela's through to Blackpool, so what?" but didn't point it out in case it was an actual spoiler. Anyway, it was what we all expected. Rangela will go to - and at - Blackpool. She can't last any longer than that.

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 21:16

It's a load of bollocks, the friends for life thing anyway. It's a bubble.
Only a few have stayed in touch - Amy/Tom, Sara/Aljaz, Julien/Janette - so it always feels weird when they effuse too much. It was a job.

I think I'm with you on that one.

Some of the contestants are probably more reserved and restrained to be all lovey dovey. If they are married or in a relationship, then I think some of them would be conscious of appearing too tactile on live TV.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 12/11/2023 21:18

I'm looking forward to Sangela's AT to Back to Black, meanwhile. Not traditional AT music maybe, but I can see it working.

SequinsandStiIettos · 12/11/2023 21:27

I think Dianne is probably secretly grateful to Bobby for mentioning his lover on Saturday as it protects both her relationship with Joe and their voting fanbase.

Bobby is a player for sure. Gives me the creeps.

Cannot warm to him either.

Aquarius1234 · 12/11/2023 21:37

At least 3 or 4 years ago he was on a channel 4 sex programme with his dad. Talking about STI s and safe sex etc. Grooming private parts and other stuff.
He was only about 16.

BeingGivenMoney · 12/11/2023 21:38

I’ve just finished watching the Results and I’m gutted 😢

Although I knew it would happen regarding Shirley’s “I would have save Krishnan” bollocks, I still feel really sad.

He was such a lovely man and he bought so much joy and happiness to the show. I think Lauren’s farewell speech to him was lovely and captured well why people like Krishnan are what SCD should be about.

I’m a mixture of being really upset for Krishnan and being really pissed off at Angela.

I think I need a cup of tea to calm myself down.

nettie434 · 12/11/2023 21:49

Agree that Krishnan's message was lovely. Here it is for anyone who isn't on X/Twitter:

"That’s all folks. Heartbroken. Thanks for the love and support - I’m so delighted that so many people enjoyed watching us. @bbcstrictly brought me more happiness than I ever imagined. It has been life changing and life affirming. There is something about taking big risks, performing, giving it everything, making yourself totally vulnerable and shedding the armour you normally use to survive that is exhilarating, liberating and inspiring. Dancing is physically and emotionally unique. I had more fun than should normally be allowed on television. I owe the vast majority of it my stunning dance partner @laurenmayoakley who is brilliant in every way, funny, clever, caring, gorgeous and wise. She taught me with patience and trust, boosted me when I doubted, picked me up when I crumbled. If you want to understand the kind of person she is : when dance performance shut down during the pandemic Lauren worked in a care home, she dreams of running an animal sanctuary and she’s so fun she really ought to be presenting children’s (and family) television. She is an incredibly talented dancer, choreographer and producer. When we met she said she had one aim : to make me love dance. She succeeded in week one. And somehow we made it to week eight. It had to come to an end sooner or later - the others were just too good. They’re all lovely and talented. It was a very special team of people to be part of and we look after each other. The Strictly production team are the best in entertainment. I’ve never felt more safe in other peoples’ hands. Going to wardrobe (especially wardrobe) and makeup and hair was always a joy. My beautiful wife Lisa supported me perfectly throughout, after being the first person to convince me to do the show. My talented daughter Jasmine cheered me on as only she can, my sceptical rockstar son Jay learned to love Strictly (and Claudia) almost as much as I did. I don’t quite know what happens now. Re-entry to normal life ain’t easy after something like Strictly. Especially when normal life is something as extraordinary as C4 News. The team there put up with me being semi-detached (to put it mildly) for the last two months. Thanks everyone. Lots of love. See u soon. Xx"

Oof that's a tough one to take

Edited

16 is the age of consent in UK. By that time, I'm sure Bobby will have had some sort of sexual experience.

At what age do you think it's appropriate for fathers to have a talk about the facts of life with their child then?

Where did you get that from? I thought they got on great?

ThursdayLastWeek · 12/11/2023 22:03

my suspicion is that Bobbys ‘slip’ was all part of protecting Brand Buswell-Sugg.

Whatever it was it was weird.

Runnerinthenight · 12/11/2023 22:12

I think it was right that Krishnan went - it was his time. This will open other doors for him, whether it's just appearances on The Wheel, The Chase and Blankety Blank, or something more substantial but still lighter hearted. Everyone loved him, and it has been a great platform for him.

It will be nostalgic for Angela R to perform at Blackpool, for her and those of us who remember her presenting Come Dancing. Then it's her time. The others are all better. Fair play to her though for giving it such a good go at 79!! I somehow don't think too many of us could emulate her!

After that it starts to get more difficult to see who's next. There's several of them pretty equally matched.

I love Nigel and Katya is such a great choreographer. He's a gent, and I could listen to his dulcet tones all night. I love a man with a sexy voice! Annabel is a classy lady too. Bobby is too gangly for me - I know it's his build and he's very young. I adore Jojo!! Loving Nikita so much this season, and Vito! Vito is hilarious when he goes off on a tangent. I like all of the pros actually.

Think I must have missed that, what did he say please?

He was prompted by Claudia to do an amusing anecdote about training so hard that he was doing the routine in his sleep and rather clumsily referred to waking up "the person he was sharing a bed with". Claudia was very Claudia, slightly taken aback but instantly quipped "does anyone want to pull on that string?" (Or something very similar) and then moved on.

All a bit odd. It was the fact that it was slipped into an anecdote he'd obviously primed Claudia to ask him about that made it strange.
