The one where your creepy bastard mannequin is not only more animated but is wearing something that is arguably more demure than your puritan stuff. And has more to say if you pull a string. Maybe “Graft and make it raiiiiiiiiiin”.

Classy? Yer bollocks yer are.

I think that’s it @SheldonesqueTheBstard. This season was seriously lacking in all those small genuine human moments that make you relate to and care about an individual or a couple. It felt like every scenario was manufactured or manipulated by the producers in some way, and that actually they didn’t really care about the cast or have a very high opinion of the viewers.

FeargalLandSharkey · 11/11/2023 16:48

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Elsie Tanner and Len Fairclough.
And Thelma (?) Barlow's death.

Soaps ain't what they used to be.

And therein lies the problem I think.

Not only are we being subjected to soap by stealth, they think we won’t notice!!!

My inner Nan notices. Out ye come flower…

As long as you're all here I will be too. It may well be a pool of shite, but it's our pool of shite. And yes, I'll be tuning into the NZ one right after the final on Thursday.

I agree re George, he is acting the part and doing a good job of it. The thing is that any of them can piss off whenever they want. You're matched with a nightmare? Leave. Your partner wants to stay? Leave. Nathaniel did. Terence made it clear he wasn't going to stay no matter what porscha wanted to do. They want the "fame" and they'll put up with a lot for their fifteen minutes. I have moments of feeling sorry for some of them but then I remember that the majority of them are arseholes and I just enjoy their so-called suffering.

Well if I can be so bold as to request this little snippet of a treasure to be included in our next (and possibly final) thread please:

"It may well be a pool of shite, but it's our pool of shite. "

This is spot on. There's not one couple I'm wanting to survive past the experiment. I'm hoping most don't because they seem so toxic. The experts don't really seem to care about calling anyone out for their behaviour

Ah. I haven't watched Corrie for years. It was lovely to see all the old characters again. My DM watched the 'soaps' religiously and like the Corrie characters, we grew up knowing everyone in our street, helping neighbours when they needed it, etc. It's made me all nostalgic.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/11/2023 18:49

Bar one neighbour it is like that here in our street. Older neighbours are looked after - snow shovelled, messages fetched, gardens done. I’ve known them all my days and it is just what is done.

I’m still known as lass and also as our kid by someone who moved into our street when I was little.

And I’m 50 odd.

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

They need to bin this new MAFS. Bring back Blind Date!

TitsInAbsentia · 11/11/2023 19:41

The blind date revival didn't really work though did it. Was that Paul O Grady (rest his delightful soul) who did it?

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 11/11/2023 19:44

I know, it didn't. I used to love it though, back in the day! My student Saturday nights started with Cilla and Our Graham

MouseMinge · 11/11/2023 19:50

Aw, thanks @TitsInAbsentia !

I only moved to my flat last year. It's a large terrace, a flat on each floor. The couple upstairs are absolute stars. Looked after my two cats when I was in hospital for the weekend a couple of weeks ago. Helped me get all my feeding tube food and paraphernalia up the stairs on Thursday. They're bloody lovely and I consider myself very lucky indeed. I've helped them out too, but I feel that they've gone above and beyond in the last month or so.

Not a spoiler but I saw Jordan's post on Instagram which had Luke wearing one of those old school mops on his head and pretending to be Jordan. It was quite entertaining but presumably Jordan was in on the joke? Which makes you think just how much of the drama is staged.

As Sheldon says, it would have been far more interesting to have it as a genuine experiment.

The opposite I think - Luke constantly takes the piss out of Jordan and is quite unpleasant. He has quite openly challenged Jordan to another fight.

Sumthingsweet · 11/11/2023 22:58

Lol me and my sister use to play Blind date when our friends came over

I’d be cilla and say we’re going to have a lorra lorra laughs we’d make a pretend screen and potential suitors would come out with ridiculous reasons for being picked .. pre internet !

Sumthingsweet · 11/11/2023 23:00

Then we would play cassettes with the words in and dance - papa don’t preech

mum would pop her head round and laugh and bring us snacks and tell us to calm down

when we use to dress up she use to say we are trying to be Madonna again ha ha we had so much fun …

Paul2023 · 12/11/2023 00:27

I think some of these people are genuinely vulnerable, despite many of them being fame hungry arseholes.

Nathaniel seemed true to himself. When he left the dinner table he seemed genuinely upset. He said goodbye to everyone. Not one person got up. Not one person even said goodbye. Not a single word.

Now take Thomas. An intelligent, nice , classy guy with a nice family. He was really into Roz. She blew him hot and cold. Then randomly went on about sex toys. Even though is was something new to Thomas, he went with it. He even embraced it.

Then Roz dropped him like a hot potato .Even went as far to say she wants kids but not with Thomas, in front of everyone.

Thomas was visibly upset. The guy hopefully hasn’t left with any issues. Or a complex. He came across as vulnerable.

For what it’s worth ,I actually thought Roz was punching when it came to Thomas.

He was too good for her.

MzHz · 12/11/2023 09:14

I agree Roz was punching, and yes he does seem genuinely vulnerable and very susceptible to a potentially damaging relationship

I hope he is able to get past this and realise that he’s worth more than he thinks/more than Roz
