I'm not sure it'll reach the heights of the BBC ALW shows (I loved those!), but I'm going to give it a go.

Why would you audition for a WE show without knowing something about musicals? it does not give much sense of commitment to the role, whereas others would Iive and breathe it.

But I think it was really weird and wrong that he doesn't know/like musicals and is on this show

Was he basically saying he didn't know any songs from any musicals ?

Yes they did. Lots of time spent in UK in rehearsals. Lots of online time with a voice coach as well as in rehearsal spaces. Lots of group work.

It’s shown me that reality isn’t altogether real in TV land

And you know damn well all those women will know musical theatre

@LIZS massaged to imply less formal education in musical theatre than they actually have.

@Jins I think there was also a lot of rehearsal time when they were on Corfu too. The bit I saw being filmed (which was one of the dance routines with all the then remaining Sophies and Skys in it) they rehearsed all afternoon before doing several takes of the filming in the evening.

Just caught up on last night. 100% wrong decision to send Darcy home.

Callum might be a decent actor but he doesn't have a great voice or stage presence, Marcellus is trying it on with the old "throat infection" and actually I thought Tobias was poor throughout the show.

I got the impression that Samantha Barks had set out her stall that she disliked Darcy quite early on though so his days would have been numbered.

I really like Darcey but felt he needed a year or two of training. Get a bit stronger all round. Callum might well be next.

The standard for the boys overall is really low, there are a million musical theatre actors in amateur shows I have seen that are better. I think it was fine for Darcy to go as he definitely isn't good enough, he probably wasn't the worse though. I'm not sure how they got to the final girls or boys really but I would be expecting 7 amazing singers, actors and dancers.

i think the boys have been chosen for their cheeky charm rather than musical theatre skills

the man who plays sky who turned up to watch was so clearly perfect for the role it will be hard to match

I'm playing catch up. Absolutely loving it & cannot see what others are seeing about it being rubbish! It's a little joy in my autumn!

Loved Owen & Craig's performances this week.

Footloose guy was charismatic, but weak voice. Callum was weakest singer, although Darcy wouldn't have got much further anyway, I reckon.

Loving the sets/ wardrobe.

Love the outfits!

I think the guy who sang Footloose, it might have been the song that let him down.

However, if they had all this rehearsal, you would have thought they’d be stronger.

Just found this thread !! I wasn't surprised when Mandy went the first week as her acting was poor and tho her singing was good she wasn't the best. She didn't sell Sophie in my opinion.

Was surprised at Darcy tho and he looked surprised too. But I think they really are looking for an all rounder so if your weaker in one area it's a no.

Would have been good to see the audition process tho. It feels like there will have been more experienced/polished performers auditioning but I'm guessing they wanted the journey so picked less experienced but talented that they could build on.

I just don't have a Stand Out male. Which is so ridiculous. Were these really the best they could get?! All so forgettable. At least in the show Sky doesn't actually be in many scenes/songs.

Callum should have been sent home for that musical theatre comment, totally unacceptable to not be prepared at all like that. Embarrassing.

Callum can't really sing, agreed, but he has something. His acting was by far the most believable (would hope so too, he has an acting degree from a good drama school, whereas the rest have done musical theatre, which requires different skills) and he is very beautiful in a slight and boyish way. He won't be Skye, or course he won't, but he will use this as a vehicle to get some acting work, and you can't blame him for doing so. Of the girls, I like Esme and Stephanie the best in terms of talent, but I do think Maisie will do well. Stevie gave the worst performance in her song but I reckon we haven't seen what the judges have seen during rehearsals, and she's probably a lot better than that really.

I’m glad Stevie’s mistake didn’t put her out, she’s got a lovely sound to her voice.

stevie looks very engaging and would be lovely in the part - let’s hope she gets over her nerves and acts and sings well
