New easy watching murder drama on each week

The Good Ship Murder is an eight-part series that launches on Channel 5 on Friday October 13 at 9pm, with subsequent episodes running weekly on Fridays at the same time through the rest of autumn 2023 (https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/autumn-tv-preview-2023-all-the-best-dramas-coming-to-the-uk-in-the-new-season)
.

The Good Ship Murder on Channel 5 stars former Coronation Street actors Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley as an ex-cop and a naval officer who team up to solve a spate of murders on a glamorous cruise ship.

Shayne plays former detective Jack Grayling, who is living his dream of becoming a cabaret singer on board a luxury Mediterranean cruise ship, while Catherine is fiercely ambitious and newly promoted First Officer on the ship, Kate Woods.

When a passenger is found murdered, Jack is thrust back into his former world and what follows is a wave of murders, each set against a different yet equally stunning coastal backdrop.

The Good Ship Murder follows former detective Jack Grayling (Shayne Ward) who is living his best life working as an entertainer on a cruise ship. There he meets First Officer Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley), a woman in a man’s world, with plenty to prove. Life on the ship is exciting and glamorous but there are jealousies, rivalries and deep divides hidden below the surface and, as the ship docks at its first port of call, a passenger is found murdered. This tragedy is followed by more murders and unlikely duo Jack and Kate must join together to solve the mysteries.

I was too invested in Nathan being David to realise he was the villain. Poor Collin indeed 😔.

Right time to switch channels for DIP

Same but now 15m behind due to a friend calling. Don’t they know not to disturb me 9/10 on a Friday night 😂

As I love Colin, he's a good addition to the cast.
I keep thinking Jack is called Jack Grealish.

It's just taken me 30 minutes to realise it's David from Emmerdale. Thought he looked familiar!

Yes! Knew he was familiar but couldn't place him at all!

Lovely, can't wait

purpleme12 · 15/02/2025 22:11

Oh god what a coincidence that there's a misunderstanding to make an obstacle so Kate can't get with Jack 🙄

Ah come on, you love it really 😏

My googling is saying there are 7 episodes, so next week is the last. In S1 there were 8, but maybe the Christmas special is counted as part of S2.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2025 02:12

I can't believe they're telling Jack off for going in someone's room and taking the law into his own hands when that's what he's been doing throughout the whole of series 1 and 2 🤣🤣

Umanresources · 21/02/2025 23:58

I usually record this and watch it on my own. It’s cheesy and easy watching but I do enjoy singing backing vocals to the theme song. I love the song at the end of the show too. I’m going to miss it now.

😂😂And how he and Kate seem to be able to access vital evidence that the local police appear to have no interest in and/or have overlooked.

It also always amazes me how all the suspects and witness willing accept being interviewed by these two members of the ships staff and instead of telling them to bugger off sit there and answer their question, and the local police seem fine with it. He's not a police officer fgs he's a singer on a cruise ship, and a crappy one at that..

Mind you, I suppose that applies to all these programmes with armature 'detectives' in them. Nobody ever seems to take issue with being questioned by them.

mum2jakie · 23/02/2025 13:43

Watching the final.episode and have to say have found this series overall pretty dull and repetitive. I know it's lighthearted and easy viewing but am at the point where I really don't care whether Jack and Kate get together or not. It's hardly Romeo and Juliet

Davros · 23/02/2025 17:00

I thoroughly enjoyed all of this, drivel though it be!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2025 19:58
