New easy watching murder drama on each week

The Good Ship Murder is an eight-part series that launches on Channel 5 on Friday October 13 at 9pm, with subsequent episodes running weekly on Fridays at the same time through the rest of autumn 2023 (https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/autumn-tv-preview-2023-all-the-best-dramas-coming-to-the-uk-in-the-new-season)
.

The Good Ship Murder on Channel 5 stars former Coronation Street actors Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley as an ex-cop and a naval officer who team up to solve a spate of murders on a glamorous cruise ship.

Shayne plays former detective Jack Grayling, who is living his dream of becoming a cabaret singer on board a luxury Mediterranean cruise ship, while Catherine is fiercely ambitious and newly promoted First Officer on the ship, Kate Woods.

When a passenger is found murdered, Jack is thrust back into his former world and what follows is a wave of murders, each set against a different yet equally stunning coastal backdrop.

The Good Ship Murder follows former detective Jack Grayling (Shayne Ward) who is living his best life working as an entertainer on a cruise ship. There he meets First Officer Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley), a woman in a man’s world, with plenty to prove. Life on the ship is exciting and glamorous but there are jealousies, rivalries and deep divides hidden below the surface and, as the ship docks at its first port of call, a passenger is found murdered. This tragedy is followed by more murders and unlikely duo Jack and Kate must join together to solve the mysteries.

ironingboredagain · 18/11/2023 01:52

Last week's I actually managed to work out who did it and a bit of what happened!
I never usually do that!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/11/2023 21:25

Me too purple. Think I did in E 2 as well

I really like Shayne Ward in this! It's just fun, easy watching, with no harrowing, disturbing scenes. That makes such a change.

This exactly. I've never seen Shayne Ward in anything before and I LOVE him! It's a bit of fun (with murder) and the background of the cruise ship and the different cities works well 🧀

duc748 · 24/11/2023 23:43

I haven't watched this, but it reminds me a bit of Spanish series High Seas, daft Christie-esque murder mystery, with two ridiculous glam sisters. Sounds like in the same vein. Anyone seen it?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2023 13:45

No @duc748 but sounds good

It's on Netflix.

purpleme12 · 03/12/2023 22:35

I had to laugh when Jack made his supposed big reveal to Kate about why he left the police force.
It was hardly a big reveal was it 🤣

5foot5 · 04/12/2023 22:43

Very silly but I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I think I would describe it as a bit of a guilty pleasure. Embarrassing to admit enjoying something so thoroughly cheesy.

I do hope Channel 5 commission a second series!

Lovemycat2023 · 08/12/2023 20:46

Just watched the last episode, and very much enjoyed the montage! It did occur to me that a lot of last weeks episode wasn’t filmed in Barcelona, and was in fact Maltese streets. I went to Barcelona this summer and was a bit confused by the last episode!

Davros · 09/12/2023 11:03

I watched the last one yesterday. Loved it and now I've got a big soft spot for Shayne Ward

Umanresources · 09/12/2023 15:49

Finally watched the last one and enjoyed it. It’s not an Oscar winner but lovely scenery and now I’m a Shayne Ward fan too. I must admit he had me at Daydream Believer in the first episode 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/12/2023 17:17

I still haven't teen last one yet

I've got the last one to watch as well. Really enjoyed the whole series, fun and light, just what I need at the moment. Love Shayne Ward in this.

Davros · 10/12/2023 09:44

@Clawdy get it line! It's quite a long queue

pigsDOfly · 10/12/2023 14:52

Silly and predictable but nonetheless very enjoyable easy watching.

If they made a second series I'd tune in.

Good viewing for when you don't want to have to think too hard.

purpleme12 · 24/12/2023 23:10

So I watched this with my 10 year old child who got really into it.
She's having a bath playing today. I ask her what she's playing. She says 'mysterys'.
Not something she normally plays.
I say oh I don't know what that is.
She says it's killing people and solving mysteries mummy. Okkkkkk sounds not that nice...
Then she says 'you know mummy like Jack Grayling in The Good Ship Murder' 🤣🤣
Then it all made sense 🤣

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/12/2023 09:42
