New easy watching murder drama on each week

The Good Ship Murder is an eight-part series that launches on Channel 5 on Friday October 13 at 9pm, with subsequent episodes running weekly on Fridays at the same time through the rest of autumn 2023 (https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/autumn-tv-preview-2023-all-the-best-dramas-coming-to-the-uk-in-the-new-season)
.

The Good Ship Murder on Channel 5 stars former Coronation Street actors Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley as an ex-cop and a naval officer who team up to solve a spate of murders on a glamorous cruise ship.

Shayne plays former detective Jack Grayling, who is living his dream of becoming a cabaret singer on board a luxury Mediterranean cruise ship, while Catherine is fiercely ambitious and newly promoted First Officer on the ship, Kate Woods.

When a passenger is found murdered, Jack is thrust back into his former world and what follows is a wave of murders, each set against a different yet equally stunning coastal backdrop.

The Good Ship Murder follows former detective Jack Grayling (Shayne Ward) who is living his best life working as an entertainer on a cruise ship. There he meets First Officer Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley), a woman in a man’s world, with plenty to prove. Life on the ship is exciting and glamorous but there are jealousies, rivalries and deep divides hidden below the surface and, as the ship docks at its first port of call, a passenger is found murdered. This tragedy is followed by more murders and unlikely duo Jack and Kate must join together to solve the mysteries.

Yeah, that's it. He needs a hair cut.

Clawdy · 11/01/2025 08:43

Enjoyed last night's, loved Shayne's singing at the end, as always! Just the sort of programme I need on a Friday night.

Just watching yesterday's episode. Has his (ex) wife and daughter ever been mentioned before?

purpleme12 · 11/01/2025 11:04

I remember him mentioning his daughter before in the last series

dollybird · 11/01/2025 13:40

Watched all the first series and Xmas special recently. First episode of this series was good, but waaay too many female murderers, which really pisses me off.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/01/2025 13:41

Daughter yes

Not wife or ex

but he made it clear to dd that mum and him are over

tho

dd told Kate that they were still together

hence she’s a stirring shit bag

and Kate got all stroppy and said they are no more

Yes, I think she kept ignoring his calls?

Umanresources · 16/01/2025 13:14

Enjoying this. It's not claiming to be Shakespeare (more Shakespeare and Hathaway 😆) but the scenery is great. I like the idea of somewhere new every week and enjoy Shayne's singing. The acting is slightly OTT and camp but makes for easy watching. A friend of mine was teaching at the same school as Shayne and after seeing him on X Factor said he was remembering the time Shayne was caught snogging a girl in a cupboard at school. I just have that vision now every time I see him 😂.

Davros · 16/01/2025 17:35

Loved it, love Shayne, love the ship! Love everything

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 16/01/2025 20:50

Finally got round to watching Ep1 of the new series. It was, well, as expected! Enjoyable in its own unique way.

But the actor playing the daughter ain’t going to win any acting awards. Hope she’s not in it too much.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2025 22:39

Hopefully she will get off at the next port 💙
