Sounds like a great day out Stopdropnroll - the weekend sessions should be good

Sounds as if Stan went into SuperStan mode playing the doubles straight after his win against Cam but it wasn’t to be Bear

Raahh · 16/09/2023 09:01

Sounds like you had a great time Stopdropnroll.

Fizzy I was surprised to see Stan do the doubles, but I suppose there was a limited choice really in the Swiss camp.

I was looking at results around the tournament as a whole- Spain have had a terrible week (ADF was doing ok against Djok in his match, and then failed to win another game ).

Italy didn't start well either, but had a better day yesterday. Similar story for the USA- Tiafoe has lost both his matches.

I'd almost forgotten that the Laver Cup is next weekend - I'm not sure where it's being shown, and obviously it's in Canada, so the time difference will be a factor again.

GreenLaurel · 16/09/2023 20:48

Glad you a good day Stop, so did I and it was much better organised than I expected. I had such a great time and yes Andy’s interview was heart-breaking.

GreenLaurel · 16/09/2023 20:54

I went again today. Saw the Swiss team as we were leaving and tried to get a selfie with Stan but they were whisked into a room as I asked - gutted!

I'll never hear a bad word against him again after witnessing that Flowers

That's disappointing, Green! I'd love a selfie with Stan Grin

Guido is retiring Sad

Holger is still having problems with his back. I hope he can get back to full fitness.

OP posts:
Raahh · 17/09/2023 12:16

That's sad, about Guido *Jane. Mind you, I still think he's about 25!
Holger has had a run of losses, I hope his injury is nothing that keeps him out for long. it's a massive set back, after such a breakthrough year. Sad.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2023 12:24

I think Holger might have been overdoing it a bit. Hopefully now Lars is back full time he'll get him on a less taxing training schedule with a bit of downtime!

OP posts:
Raahh · 17/09/2023 13:09

Holger probably does need a break. Would be good if he could make it to Paris to try to defend there though - don't want Djok winning that as well!

I have put the Davis Cup on- even though I'm still annoyed I couldnt watch yesterday because the Brits weren't playing .

Just watching France singing their anthem - I am always shocked by how tall Nicholas Mahut is- I aways think of him being very short (and he really isn't ) Grin.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2023 13:34

It would be nice if I could watch some AngryI'll just have to read my book instead. It's very quiet here today just me and DS2. Which I shouldn't have said because now someone is bound to come for a visit!

Raahh · 17/09/2023 14:20

Arthur Fils is playing well- the commentators were surprised by the selections at the start, but Mannarino is carrying an injury- and it does look like it was the right call to play Fils.

kazzaD66 · 17/09/2023 14:25

I always think Mahut is short Raahh

Can't* *understand why Leon has picked Norrie!
Can't watch as we have people over but I understand it's not looking good for GB!

Raahh · 17/09/2023 14:29

kazza I think my misconception with Mahut, is the the whole Isner match thing.- because obviously anyone would look short next to him (except Opelka Grin). But Mahut is 6ft 3.

Dan has just broken in the second set, after losing the first.

kazzaD66 · 17/09/2023 14:33

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe Mahut is 6' 3" Grin
And yes, I'm blaming the Isner match aswell Grin
Come on Dan!!

Raahh · 17/09/2023 14:34
Grin

Dan has the second set.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2023 17:10

Shanghai surprise: Djok has withdrawn

MajesticWhine · 17/09/2023 17:24

Yeah Norrie was not a good pick. He has had a poor run lately. He's still in this match though.
Unfortunately his backhand still looks like he's scything some long grass.

GB v France going down to the wire - 4 all in the third set in the doubles

Sounds as if Dan is getting a bit eggy with Arthur Fils and trying to be SuperDan - come on GB - wish I could watch it (DH still managing to watch rugby Hmm)

IceandIndigo · 17/09/2023 22:00

Well done GB! That doubles match was amazing.

IceandIndigo · 17/09/2023 22:01

Andy Murray really suits a bucket hat.
