My Mum, Your Dad

Oops got the title wrong in my first thread - have requested deletion

Starting tomorrow on itv1

“My Mum, Your Dad is a British dating reality show that is set to begin airing on ITV1 on 11 September 2023. It will be presented by Davina McCall and follows middle-aged single parents heading to a romance retreat for a second chance at love which is overseen by their children.”

From a Google for the show it appears there is already 1 season of the US called My Mom, Your Dad. So presumably the same format.

Anyone planning to watch?

Is this the show that was billed in the media as an upcoming middle aged Love Island earlier this year?

And I feel sorry for Roger but also find it a bit mad that his daughter thought this was a good idea just a year on from his wife’s fairly sudden death. And that he agreed to do it! I also feel sorry for eg Caroline who seems quite interested in him as he clearly just isn’t ready to date. And there are only four men so honestly I’d be a bit annoyed that one space has gone to someone who just isn’t ready for this. I have to say he is very handsome and charismatic though.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it it yet ..
But I was wondering if any of the "kids" might end up pairing up ?

They seem like a nice bunch and very supportive of each other.

Exactly my thoughts !

The thing that bugs me about these dating shows is that contestants come from all over the country. What is really the likelihood that they are going to get together with someone who lives hundreds of miles away - particularly with middle aged people who have very established lives and homes? I am quite enjoying the programme though.

Agree

Geordie woman snd essex man aren't realistically going to build a life

JustDanceAddict · 14/09/2023 07:07

Finding it a bit tedious!
I also think some of the kids might get together - they’re all good looking too 😆
also I am
assuming they’re staying in a hotel or something so they brought clothes etc for the duration, or did they think they were just dropping off their parents?!

Twonewcats · 14/09/2023 07:16

One of the problems with them thinking it's experts who are making the decisions is that could affect their thoughts/processing of it all. Eg we've already heard from Paul that the "experts got it right" pairing him with Natalie. I know that could be a good thing, but there could be some scenarios where putting their trust in experts (who aren't experts at all) might be counterproductive

lollipoprainbow · 14/09/2023 07:17

Watching the kids bores me, would much rather watch the adults! Maybe if there is a next series they could let the kids drop them off then leave them to it.

I think they said it's 14 days, and the kids seemed to think they'd only be doing some interviews etc. Maybe they knew they'd be on hand for support, but just not the full extent of it.
But as a pp said, they'd have to change the format for any future series

LaBelleSauvage123 · 14/09/2023 09:27

I like watching the kids. They’re around the same age as DS1 ( though Roger’s is a bit older I think?) and have his mixture of positivity and wisdom - great advert for youth!

What's the obsession in this type of programmes with showing people brushing their teeth. It's gross! (But maybe that's just me!)

Yes and they're always using an electric toothbrush like you would a manual! Really annoying.

Clayton's son is 35 - only 8 years younger than one of the mums - there's a bigger age gap between her and some of the dads!

LaBelleSauvage123 · 14/09/2023 12:42

Good grief really? He looks about 25!

CherryCokeFanatic · 14/09/2023 17:38

Caught up on last night. I think the new former basketballer will be popular

Speaking of tooth brushing. Anyone remember this classic from MAFS Australia?

I'm lagging behind a bit as the pace is so slow, but just put Tuesday's episode on and I really like how lovely everyone is. Just great to see lots of lovely kids that age getting on with no drama.

(Is it normal for women to wear tights with toeless shoes?).

ilovebrie8 · 14/09/2023 18:29

Clayton’s son doesn’t look 35! He comes across well as did Janey’s son who joined them. In fact all the kids seem v sensible a good bunch! The new tall guy looks to be a hit …more newbies tonight too…it must be a bit harder for those who arrive later

I’m watching it with dd aged 20 and we both said the same thing! 😆

ilovebrie8 · 14/09/2023 21:20

Roger should’ve gone with Janey!

ilovebrie8 · 14/09/2023 21:25

Ooh he’s just said Janey!

ilovebrie8 · 14/09/2023 21:27

I like Clayton he seems kind and lovely

rockingbird · 14/09/2023 21:30

I also love Clayton, he's such a beautiful soul, I'd actually date him.

rockingbird · 14/09/2023 21:32

Roger is definitely more suited to Janey, the other one is backing him into a corner a bit and he's just running the other way 🫣 I'm finding her a bit too full on.

ilovebrie8 · 14/09/2023 21:34

Yep I agree @rockingbird !

ilovebrie8 · 14/09/2023 21:35

about Roger ! And I also agree I’d date Clayton too 😜
