The 'civilian' version was my favourite telly show ever, especially the early series before the invasion of the wannabes. Not so keen on the celeb versions; those people are always 'on'. Loved the first season when it was all raw. Sada doing her goddess chant every bedtime. The chickens. Nichola naked body painting the wall. Nasty Nick's downfall.

My favourite contestant was Science in BB6, and he was in my favourite task - the box task. 'Shut up' 'No you shut up'.

Top evictions:
Maxwell being evicted when he totally thought it would be Science.
Big-head Sezer visibly shocked that he was evicted.
Grace getting the boot and chucking water over Susie she was so mad.
Kathreya [Happy House!] getting chucked out in her dressing gown to no crowd.

Yes GotHam, me too - didn't realise until I watched the film Nope which has a chimpanzee attack and I looked up something about it.

purpleme12 · 08/09/2023 23:35

Ah yes Jade of course

StellaAndCrow · 08/09/2023 23:36

"I'm 26, and I'm a solicitor - I am NOT getting in a cupboard!!"

TellingBone · 08/09/2023 23:36

I recall the first series started not long after I'd bought my first computer. I was in a Yahoo group with live discussions as we all watched together. It was WILD. 😂

I was so excited to end up at a playgroup with Narinda in about 2005 lol

Loved Nikki. God rest her wee soul. The first few series were amazing

PuppyMonkey · 08/09/2023 23:37

East Anglia - I thought that was abroad?

TaigaSno · 08/09/2023 23:42

I loved the first series. It was brilliant because it was the only series where the contestants were regular people who were not acting up for the cameras because they had no idea how it was being perceived outside. It was so fascinating just watching their day to day lives in the house.

From the second series onwards, every contestant acted up to get attention, screen time and fame. It was all so fake. And the contestants were increasingly chosen for eccentricities. It was more and more boring!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/09/2023 23:44

I LOVE BB and can't wait for it to be on again!

jay55 · 08/09/2023 23:47

I went to a few eviction shows and on big brothers big mouth back when it was on channel 4. I remember the queuing and the people I met more than who was evicted.

Remember Mel plucking her bikini line in the garden out of sheer boredom.
Sandy walking in circles in the pool every morning before he quit.
Jon tickle talking about a toaster.

East Anglia - I thought that was abroad?

East Angular does sound exotic 😂

Rockbird · 08/09/2023 23:50

The first one, 2000. DH and I were on honeymoon and we were glued to it in the hotel. No TV will ever be as exciting as the Nasty Nick showdown. Ooh the tension!

TellingBone · 08/09/2023 22:24

That was Survivor. Memorable fall-out of all participants. ISTR Ben Fogle found fame on the back of that. [apart from being from a celeb family]

I think it was called castaway 2000 rather than survivor ♥️xxx

creamcheeseandlox · 08/09/2023 23:53

Bubble running, falling over the table and breaking his leg. Rich house poor house was class, Alison falling through the table, drunk Kate falling over putting trousers on, can't remember her name but she said "I can beat you up with my little finger" , Nikki Graham and her tantrums re the air conditioning etc, so many good memories from the early days. I stopped watching it after about series 5 I think.

SullysTail · 08/09/2023 23:53

You live by the sword you die by the sword

As an aside I lived abroad for a long time and didn't know there was an ultimate BB (the season Josie won and went straight into the ultimate bb house) I wish I could watch it!

My favourite person to ever go in was Lauren Harries. Absolutely hilarious. Totally detached from reality the whole time she was in there, then the comedy falls and tipping cups of tea over her shoulder was just 10/10.

Another firm favourite Gary Busey (maybe incorrectly spelt) he was just completely bizarre to watch!

Agree. Lauren harries lol.shes great. She did a series where she was trying out new jobs, it was hilarious

catin8oots · 08/09/2023 23:59

Fight Night. And Kinga but I do try and erase from from my brain whenever it pops up

TaigaSno · 09/09/2023 00:00

Oh and for the celebrity version, my stand out memory is how awfully racist Jade Goody and the S Club 7 woman were to Shilpa Shetty. Things like mocking her accent, and refusing to eat food because she had touched it.
It was truly horrible to watch! I can't remember how it was resolved now but I do remember being horrified that the two of them weren't pulled out of the house.
Every time someone on TV talks about how sweet or funny Jade Goody was, or the S Club woman is on trying to get her career going again, I am immediately reminded of this hideous racism. It was a big news story at the time.
