As Big Brother is set to return, what are your stand-out memories?

The 'civilian' version was my favourite telly show ever, especially the early series before the invasion of the wannabes. Not so keen on the celeb versions; those people are always 'on'. Loved the first season when it was all raw. Sada doing her goddess chant every bedtime. The chickens. Nichola naked body painting the wall. Nasty Nick's downfall.

My favourite contestant was Science in BB6, and he was in my favourite task - the box task. 'Shut up' 'No you shut up'.

Top evictions:
Maxwell being evicted when he totally thought it would be Science.
Big-head Sezer visibly shocked that he was evicted.
Grace getting the boot and chucking water over Susie she was so mad.
Kathreya [Happy House!] getting chucked out in her dressing gown to no crowd.

Has anyone seen the limited series, Dead Set or something- had Davina in, a big brother mock show but with zombies.

Those early ones were great. What was the one with the Scottish island?

That was Survivor. Memorable fall-out of all participants. ISTR Ben Fogle found fame on the back of that. [apart from being from a celeb family]

@wellingtonsandwaffles that was Glyn.

Loved Big Brother. My favourite was Jade Goody.

Justleaveitblankthen · 08/09/2023 22:26

Did I read correctly that Kate Lawler and Alison Hammond were in the same series?
I clearly remember Kate as she was into hardcore fitness, but Alison?
Nope. Zero memory of her!

My favourite was Nasty Nick and Craig, especially the infamous confrontation scene before Nick was ejected.

Oh - and Craig forever mispronouncing "Calorine" 😁

I remember the live stream overnight - just putting the channel on and the weird night vision of just people snoozing.

Me too! Back in my Uni days we'd put on the live stream on TV when we'd get in from a night out haha.

Really enjoyed the original few series. Back in the days before social media. These days anyone going on it is already some sort of influencer wannabe playing up for the cameras.

It sort of created its own downfall though really didn't it? The beauty of it was how normal everyone was. Fame was a by product.

But then it became a show which attracted people actively seeking fame.

KateyCuckoo · 08/09/2023 22:27

Yes, Alison broke the table!

Ellemeg82 · 08/09/2023 22:27

Calistano · 08/09/2023 22:21

Those early ones were great. What was the one with the Scottish island?

It was a BBC show called Castaway 2000 and it's where Ben Fogle found game. Whole group of people had to spend 12 months on a remote Scottish island.
Really enjoyed that series.

Ellemeg82 · 08/09/2023 22:28

*found fame

True.

BB4 was a bit of a bore-fest so they went for somewhat different housemates for BB5 ensuing in the memorable fight-night

Had Makosi actually gotten pregnant after the hot tub incident with Anthony, that hot tub baby would be 18 now.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/09/2023 22:30

They need a really good cross section of society. But I fear the show may not be able to attract that any more.

pepino · 08/09/2023 22:31

When Alison fell through the picnic table.

The wine bottle Confused

Boomboom22 · 08/09/2023 22:31

But op, back where? When? Channel? Presenter? This is important info I require!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/09/2023 22:31

I think Alison Hammond is the most successful of all the contestants across all the series. What season was she?

Mumofteenandtween · 08/09/2023 22:33

Helen and Paul!

ITV2 starting in October

@Ellemeg82 You're right - Castaway2000 not Survivor as I said

I remember the scene with Alex singing behind the door giving me absolute convulsions.

LolaCrapola · 08/09/2023 22:34

Kinga and the wine bottles is unfortunately what springs to mind.

but I also remember Victor. And that awful woman that just kept saying ‘ave it’ - she was dire!

NooNakedJacuzziness · 08/09/2023 22:35

"At least somebody got wet tonight Saskia!"

I was coming on to say this. It was so funny.

tothesea · 08/09/2023 22:36

They pee in the shower…it’s disGUSTing

paraphrasing but this is a quote from Alex that still gets used in this house.

I was a BB obsessive. Can you believe there are was a phone line you could call that was a live stream..and I called it!

However I didn’t last past series 6 or so…like PP the wannabes got in and ruined it

moana1234 · 08/09/2023 22:37

Celeb bb when angie bowie was informed of the passing of david bowie and all hell broke loose when angie confided in tiffany but she took it as fellow housemate david gest was dead in the next room. Tv gold!!!

tothesea · 08/09/2023 22:37

Oh another one we use…Brian
Downing to Narinda …’Be nice!!’
