Loved that. Winners for me so far are Alex’s dad and Harry’s mum.

gawditswindy · 20/09/2023 22:28

Harry's mum reminds me of my mum, with her foldable shopper and Richard and Judy book. I think he'll get frustrated with her slowness. It'll be interesting to see how they cope.

Nottheeightoutoftencats · 20/09/2023 22:30

Billy is such an amazing young man and great to see that his sister is cut from the same cloth. Straight into the pigeon crap she went.

Stressybetty · 20/09/2023 23:20

Enjoyed the first episode but as with the last series it feels rushed. Lots of taxi Mel and her mum but looking at the checkpoint budgets everyone else must have splurged on hotels and or taxis too. Rather they did 2 episodes per checkpoint instead of one really. DH wanted more about the locations.

CrossPurposes · 20/09/2023 23:37

So many cats.

rockingbird · 20/09/2023 23:49

Checking in, I was on catch up! Loving Harry's mum but he needs to take care of her a little more.. but of a disadvantage as she's clearly not as spritely as he seems to think! The weather man's dad is a right card, I love him already.

EachandEveryone · 20/09/2023 23:50

Did anyone else watch the whole thing thinking that Mel was one of the Appleton sisters?😮

Despite watching the whole episode DH had no idea who Mel was until she started singing at the bar. Then he thought she was an Appleton! No idea where his head was at!

Revelschocolates · 21/09/2023 07:41

Rooting for Billy and his sister. He just needs to pace himself but as a sportsman, he will no doubt be out to win! Go Billy🥇

minou123 · 21/09/2023 08:57

A great start to a new series.

Loved all the celebs. I don't have a favourite yet.
What I like is they have picked non-dicknead celebs. They all seem quite grounded and relatable.
They are making the classic mistakes. 😀

JustLurkingAway · 21/09/2023 10:31

Haven't watched first episode yet but already rooting for billy & bonnySmile

It's next on my list for a city break, both my parents and PIL have been in the last year and said how great it is.

We’ve just come back and it is indeed amazing. As is Cordoba.

TaigaSno · 21/09/2023 11:08

I haven't watched this before but did watch the first episode yesterday. It seems fun (I'd love to have a go myself!). Can't help wondering though, if they have to go to certain checkpoints along the way, surely they are all going to end up travelling the same route at the same time? Which they pretty much did yesterday. Wouldn't it be more interesting and fun if they were given a start and end point and just had to make their way whatever route they wanted.

RaraRachael · 21/09/2023 11:44

I'm looking forward to the countries they're visiting as a lot of them are on my wish list. Although Canada was beautiful I didn't really find it that interesting having the same language etc.
Haven't got a favourite yet although I loved Harry's mum with her Richard and Judy book!

Angeldelightful · 21/09/2023 13:09

I'm very excited about this, the route is much better than in Canada and last night was classic stuff ...

Harry and Alex both so obviously in it to win it and getting impatient with their elderly parents ... I would do too, but it's funny to see it on film

Mel's mum is fab, Mel is a strange mix of lacking in confidence and thinking she's queen bee ... I knew the All Saints a bit through work back in the 90s and let's just say they were not brains of Britain, apart from Shaznay who basically did everything.

Love Alex's dad and his knowledge you paid on the bus - it's exactly the kind of argument i have with my dc all the time.

Harry's mum isn't really up to it and Harry needs to realise this

Siblings are amazing with a brilliant attitude! In an ideal world I'd like them to win or Mel's mum in a team with Alex's dad having dumped their kids en route

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/09/2023 13:14

Really enjoyed this! Least favourites are Mel and Alex. Love the two mums and the brother and sister.

AnnPerkins · 21/09/2023 13:55

This show is terrible for me. I'm already planning my next fantasy holiday.

Love Billy and Bonnie especially but I'm glad none of the celebs are too annoying.

placemats · 21/09/2023 14:01

I've been to Tromso and I think all of them will struggle to reach their destination if they don't start saving. Norway is expensive, though some do manage to get on a snow ride expedition, obviously a paid job. I'm waiting to see where they have to go in Tromso. My friend went to Porto this year with her son and loved it.

I like them all and will not say who I want to win because if I do it'll jinx them.

Lol at the sausage on fire in the foreground

It's a Portugese speciality. You douse it in alcohol and set light to it. You can buy special dishes for it - we were given one as a present when we were there.

Chouriço à Bombeiro (Flame Grilled Chouriço)

Chouriço à Bombeiro, or Flame Grilled Chouriço, is a very traditional way of flame grilling delicious Portuguese Chouriço sausage.

So many cats.

... but no rats!! That's what the locals told us in Marrakesh.

They are community cats and everyone feeds them, pets them and looks after them. I am terrified of cats and even I found myself taking photos of them and petting them.

Why don't they just buy interrail tickets? Or do you think that was banned?

The show suggests that it's a month, so yes, an interrail ticket might be good value, especially for Billie and Bonnie.

A lot of high speed trains require additional paid seat reservations though, which would be tricky.

Just caught up on it last night and a very enjoyable start. Normally there's at least one couple that are winding me up already 😂 but this time there's no obvious ones.

Really enjoy watching the relationships change and develop in previous series - was it series one with the father and young adult son who was a bit (well, totally) useless at the start but by the end he'd grown so much in confidence and competence that he was the driving force behind the team

Nowifi · 21/09/2023 21:55

Like others I really like Mel's Mum and Alex's Dad. Rooting for Billy and Bonny though they seem to have a great attitude!

TokyoSushi · 21/09/2023 22:50

Caught up now, ah I loved it, and all of them! So good, it really is my favourite show!
