Late to the party. I Loved loved LOVED this series so much. So weird and unsettling and mind bendy.

So many unanswered questions.

I think I will personally go and stalk Ben Stiller for an answer about what the numbers are about if we don’t get a season 2.

Did anyone else watch it?

I think, not really based on any evidence, is that Mark is a clone of Kier and is being prepared with his memories so he can live forever, the cold harbour thing is that.

IPartridge · 15/02/2025 20:17

Who was Irv on the phone to? Intriguing.

Either the woman in the basement or Harmony Cobel??

Intriguing, but wouldn’t that mean that Helena had sex with her grandpa? Yikes 😂

It’s one of the things I’d have to go back and rewatch for, but I’m sure we’ve seen a statue of Kier that looks like Mark, and a painting of him that looked more than a bit like Irv. Then there were the laughably inappropriate paintings of black Kier that Milchick was presented with (and less than thrilled by). I’d like to know what that’s all about.

Chrysanthemum5 · 16/02/2025 09:14

And Natalie's face when Millchik asked her to share how she had felt about her version of the paintings - she looked terrified.

Also is Drummond Helena's brother? He said something like 'Father agrees' rather than 'Your father agrees' when talking about her going back to the severed floor

IPartridge · 16/02/2025 10:38

Natalie has looked very vulnerable a few times recently. Like she's not there voluntarily.

I wondered about the use of 'father'. Maybe it's a general term used. Not literal.
I need to listen to the latest podcast!

endofthecorridoor · 16/02/2025 14:05

Yes just finished season one and loved it
I want to read this thread but don't want any spoilers
Brilliant cast and totally different.

MargoLivebetter · 17/02/2025 11:00

I am really enjoying how slowly it is going and revealing things. I am endlessly befuddled and end up with lots of questions but I'm enjoying that! There aren't many TV shows that I find so thought provoking.

Goldenthigh · 20/02/2025 14:30

Still rewatching season 1, so interesting to spot things I missed first time around knowing what we now know.
Like Ms Cobel taking Gemma's candle from his basement and then Ms Casey lighting it in Marks wellness session with Ms Cobel secretly watching them. Very twisted!
and after Mark's ripped up the photo of Gemma he's talking about all the reasons why she is great and it's exactly like the lists she reads to the innies about what their outies are like.

Seriestwo · 20/02/2025 22:26

mark is getting sick, is he? From reintegrating? That is what the cough is?

IPartridge · 22/02/2025 08:34

Very sick in this week's episode 😩

Helena meeting up with Mark was creepy and weird as doesn't know he's had sex with her. I thought she seemed quite flirty, what was her motive?

It's hard to imagine she actually fancies him but you never know. I think she wanted to see that he didn't know her at all despite all the time they've spent together.

I'm starting to think the 'real' world is totally screwed in some way - eternal winter, weird old cars and lack of tech etc. And now Bert is in with the baddies too.

Netaporter · 22/02/2025 11:24

Do we think Milchick is being presented as younger than he is? The pictures he is gifted show him to be older. Similarly, could miss Wong actually be Gemma? We know miss Casey is ‘integral’ to Lumon. And why is Helly ‘Helly R’ when her surname is Egan?

So. Many. Questions.

IPartridge · 22/02/2025 12:18

I'm guessing she's Helly R so no one could guess she was an Egan?

The outside world has a dystopian feel. I get the feeling it's set in a non specific place/time.

@NormalAuntFanny why do you say Bert is in with the baddies? Did I miss something

He was doing meaningful stares when Irving left and Irvine was having his house turned over by big bad guy whilst he was out. Aaaand all that business with his husband 'correcting' the dates he had worked at lumen.

IPartridge · 22/02/2025 12:40

I need to rewatch!

froginawell · 22/02/2025 16:00

I am normally quite chill about germs/cleanliness. But not happy about brain surgery in that setting!

The eternal winter intrigues me too

froginawell · 23/02/2025 06:25

It's always winter, but never Christmas! (CS Lewis)

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/02/2025 08:25

The thing that interests me most is the difference in personality between innie and outie. I think the severance protocol must remove some aspects of the personally in order to make a more compliant workforce?

I am loving the story between Dylan and his wife where she clearly prefers the innie. And it's heartbreaking how desperate he is to keep the 'privilege' of seeing her.

But also innie Bert seemed much nice than outie - although maybe it was the Glasgow protocol and he was the outie all the time?

I know Mark hopes Gemma is still alive but she was in a car crash - is he thinking that somehow the company kept her alive?

My brain is frazzled trying to work it all out

BiscuityBoyle · 23/02/2025 09:58

Do we know the period of time this takes place over? Are there places like Alaska where there is snow for much of the year?

Oldglasses · 23/02/2025 14:44

I might have to rewatch, or at least finish listening to the podcast as I must've missed a bit abotut Irving's house being turned over and Burt being a baddie (didnt' catch all the dialogue!).

ImRonBurgandy · 23/02/2025 19:19

In the podcast with Jon Stewart he says something about how he thinks that Lumon are making things happen to cause people to choose severance. So Gemma 'died' and they got Mark. As he is very important as they keep saying. Ben and Adam seemed to mumble awkwardly and then the conversation moved on (or the episode was over, I can't remember which).

Supersimkin7 · 23/02/2025 20:27

I swear blind Mark is the son of WeirdKeir’s naughty brother.

MargoLivebetter · 24/02/2025 09:06

Burt has to be a baddie. There were so many meaningful hard stares as Irving left after that super weird dinner. Also the big deep voiced Lumen man was in Irving's house whilst he was at dinner. There is something very fishy going on.

Holy moly, Mark getting lucky twice with Helena and then Helly! That was all weird as well.

What was Milchek doing with all the bits of paper and paperclips? I didn't get that at all.

Have they stopped working on the harvesting of numbers, or whatever their actual days jobs are?
