Late to the party. I Loved loved LOVED this series so much. So weird and unsettling and mind bendy.

So many unanswered questions.

I think I will personally go and stalk Ben Stiller for an answer about what the numbers are about if we don’t get a season 2.

Did anyone else watch it?

Another one loving these last two episodes. I think they have been the most information packed and picked up the pace, rather than the other way around. I honestly couldn't believe when the last episode was over, it felt like it had only been 20 minutes long. I was gripped!

The cinematography was superb but I do agree with everyone mentioning the mumbling. I always watch with subtitles. I have to do that with so many American shows now and it definitely isn't my hearing!

TonTonMacoute · 10/03/2025 10:28

I didn't find the episodes boring at all, but there was a lot of explanation, hardly any of which I could hear and understand.

The actress who played Sissy could be heard perfectly, the other two were completely incomprehensible.

Oldglasses · 10/03/2025 12:52

I thought it was just me and the sound as I'm a bit deaf. I couldn't make the subtitles work which was really annoying!
Why is there so much mumbling on TV, it's very irritating.

IPartridge · 10/03/2025 17:03

This is the first time I've seen episode 7 described as dull.

APurpleSquirrel · 11/03/2025 23:18

This is the only show where I feel I need to rewatch the entire previous seasons episodes with each new one, as I just get lost!
I vaguely remember some of last season with Harmony but this latest episode was like watching a completely different show with hardly anything to do with the original.
I feel more confused at this point in the series than I did at the beginning!

Seriestwo · 11/03/2025 23:32

I’m totally lost
is it that the kids were kidnapped and made to do brain stuff? So the whole town was sad and became addicts of weird orange oil?

MidnightMeltdown · 11/03/2025 23:43

Have to say, I'm surprised that people like this so much!

I watched the first series when I had a free 3 month Apple TV subscription and found it really boring. Kept waiting for something exciting or interesting to happen and it just didn't! To me, it was silly and unbelievable.

Having said that, I didn't particularly enjoy any of the series I watched on Apple TV.

The thing with Severance is that you cant take your eye off it for a minute! Any lapse in concentration and you miss something - no phone scrolling with this one.

I have to watch every episode twice and with subtitles and I’m sure if I watched them a third time there will still be more I learnt and had missed the first 2 times.

ImRonBurgandy · 12/03/2025 07:59

The episode was mysterious and important.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 13/03/2025 09:37

With the mumbling - if you have an Apple TV box you can select an option to "enhance dialogue" which helps a LOT but I always watch with subtitles on because either DD1 or DH start wittering on, or I'm sewing and can't hear over the noise of my machine (it's 1940s so very clicketty clackertty)

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/03/2025 20:57

Has anyone watched the latest episode? I am confused! Why was the birthing cabin important? I must have missed that bit

Igneococcus · 14/03/2025 21:00

The birthing cabin is like the severed floor. Mark is in his innie form there.

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/03/2025 22:08

Ah right! Thank you

Seriestwo · 14/03/2025 23:23

I’m watching it with my 18 year old. He’s hooked and seems to understand it all. I’m totally flummoxed but enjoying the time with my kid. It’s beautifully filmed, that shot of Mrs cobel with the fire was amazing, but I have no idea at all what it meant.

I loved that shot too. Maybe it symbolises melting the snow/destroying lumon. I’m still so perplexed why it is constantly the winter there.

felt sorry for poor miss huang on her bus with her bag to Svalbard or wherever she was going. Loved milchick this episode - he’s a brilliant actor

Igneococcus · 15/03/2025 06:35

I'm not sure how much time has actually passed. I know they claim that five weeks have passed when Mark comes back to the floor after the overtime contingency event but I'm not sure that's true. Milchick says at some point that they only gave him two days to assemble a replacement MDR team so this might have been much shorter. You could fit all the events into winter especially in a place with a proper cold and snowy winter.
I kept thinking "I hope Devon carries a breast pump with her".

ImRonBurgandy · 15/03/2025 09:24

Oh how I wish Bert and Irving could just live together forever in Cabin 5

The detail that some of you posters notice in the episodes is unreal but I’m very grateful 😄

ImRonBurgandy · 15/03/2025 09:48

Ben S and Adam S say in one of the podcasts that the 5 weeks isn't true

It's really useful to watch with a 17 year old. We already had a very detailed discussion about Irving this morning.

Goldenthigh · 15/03/2025 10:07

It was 5 months that Milchick claimed, I think to destabilise Mark S and get him to believe lots of things had been happening in the outside world regarding innies which wasn't true. And to persuade him that the others had decided they wanted to stay out whereas actually they'd been sacked.

great episode this week, really enjoyed it. Particularly Milchick's scenes. The echoing of him telling Miss Huang to destroy her game again, again, again when Drummond was telling him to apologise again, again, again. And him telling him to consume feculence! 😁
poor Miss Huang, at least we now know why she's a child, she's what Harmony started out as.

also like the scene where Irving repeated that he was ready over and over - linking back to the scene in the garden where they almost kissed but he said he wasn't ready 💔 surely he's not just going to disappear on the train though?

ImRonBurgandy · 15/03/2025 10:09

Sorry yes months. They also do that to Gemma I'm sure

Igneococcus · 15/03/2025 11:58

Yes, months not weeks. Gemma's supposed timeline might be even more messed up. Doesn't Mauer tell her that Mark remarried? Which makes it sound like they are telling Gemma that even more time has passed.

TheCourseOfTheRiverChanged · 15/03/2025 14:37

Milchick's story is what keeps me hooked this season. He's a disturbing combination of culpable and vulnerable. Tramell Tillman is imo the best actor on the show, he's brilliant, I hope his career takes off after this.
The retro-futuristic aesthetic I love, love, love, and the office farce, so eps 7 and 8 left me cold, too.
That scene of Milchick bringing himself to breaking point practicing putting paper clips on right - it was all the desperate, cruel nonsense of the corporate rat race in one absurd moment - but also moving.
I'd always assumed the point of the number sorting is that none of these people ever actually do anything purposeful (more absurdism) but with the Cold Harbor, waiting for the numbers to go up in ep 9 it looks like there is going to be an explanation for everything. Eventually.
I don't know if I'll be satisfied or disappointed.

OtherCoraline · 15/03/2025 19:20

Where was Irving going and why? I think I missed something there as I didn’t feel that he was in imminent danger?
