I thought Carrie's fashion in this episode was off the scale lovely. I am coveting that green dress and bomber jacket combo so hard! I liked Aiden's ex's kimono too, with the magenta and green that matched Carrie's dress. But I agree, they made her hair and makeup dowdy and mumsy, which would seem out of character for a designer. Or perhaps they were going for bohemian, and missed the mark. I'm very glad she told Carrie not to monetise her children!
I can't agree more that I do not want to see Aiden in his tighty whities. And his straight line mouth is still giving me the major icks. However, I liked his and Carrie's scene in the new apartment, I thought it was really mature and touching to acknowledge. that they have hurt each other and might again. However, wrt Carrie's scene with the gallery chap and talking about her wonderful marriage to Big - I can't decide whether that was her acknowledgement and closure on her marriage (rather than the rewriting of history and calling it a mistake) and readiness to move on; or whether this is a sign that Big will continue to hang over her and Aiden going forward.
Their new apartment is my New York dream property. But Carrie will never sell her old apartment - agree the girl downstairs will probably move in as a convenient excuse for Carrie not to let it go.
Thought Seema's scenes were so reminiscent of a Samantha scenario - didn't Sam shag a real estate agent during an apartment viewing once? Anyway, love her and her clothes. I hope this director guy doesn't end in disaster. I don't think there's an Seema/Aiden plot. I think her saying she loved him already in the previous episode was her giving her "approval" to Carrie for the new relationship, and forgiveness for Carrie forgetting about the Hamptons plan.
I don't believe for a minute that Charlotte would be that cool and collected about Lily shagging Brady. Or anyone else, for that matter. IME, motherhood turns you into a hypocrite - I don't want my daughter (or son) getting involved in any of the risky shit I did, I think that's a natural instinct. Charlotte being cool mom just feels out of character.
I quite liked the role reversals of Harry and Herbert being the party planners and fretting over the small details, and Charlotte and Lisa being the somewhat mentally (as well as physically) absent parters not taking it seriously or taking it for granted. Sauce for the goose there chaps. I'm pretty sure, had Charlotte been the party planner, she would not have been so sanguine about the teens getting a pizza.
Anthony - love him so much, and hope he finds happiness with this hot fella. But ick at shagging in a kids' room.
Poor Nya. Will someone give this character a break, writing room? I think they have given her these scenes of wild sexual abandonment (and uncharacteristic throwing caution to the wind) only to dump her with the shock of her ex's impending fatherhood, as a deliberate way to make an impact. She's still a largely underdeveloped character without much of a story arc or much to hold on to or care about as a viewer. I imagine her ex was already shagging that back up singer woman before he formally broke up with Nya.
Is Lisa also supposed to be mid-late 50s. Pregnancy. Really? Gorgeous wardrobe though. I am warming to her and Herbert, they are very cute, and I quite enjoy their loving bickering.
Miranda just continues to be annoying and hypocritical (moaning about loud sex and being annoyed when Nya is doing her a favour letting her stay there). I quite liked her in the masculine suit she wore to look at Carrie's new apartment. Very reminiscent of early SATC Miranda. WTF was Charlotte wearing, though, with those gigantic puff sleeves were horrifying!
I do not give 2 fucks about Che, but I liked the kittens. Gawd help us all if we have to watch more of her stand up going forward. The writers have really completely softened this character, haven't they. Nothing like the Che we originally met. I'm feeling manipulated. I WILL NOT LIKE YOU, CHE!
