First thread….

Spoilers etc.
Everyone posts when they’ve seen the episode so probably best to avoid the thread until you’re up to date.

Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite. I am kind of interested in C...

Big was a dick to Carrie but they were well matched in that they were both in love with him 🤣

Wishimaywishimight · 04/08/2023 12:43

@NeedToThinkOfOne So glad there are some other Big fans out there! I just thought he was incredibly sexy - the eyes, the voice, the 'big'ness of his physicality - all just utterly delicious and totally my cup of tea!! I always found it difficult to believe he suddenly saw Carrie as "The One" in Paris - I just never thought he would even use this terminology or buy into the notion of "The One" - it felt like something he said because that's what she wanted to hear.

As for Aidan, he is nice, he is cute-ish but there is zero chemistry. I think they are each filling a void for the other but it's like trying to wedge a square peg in a round hold (so to speak!) - trying to force something that is not naturally 'right' and sooner or later the 'wrongness' of them together will yet again become apparent. Carrie really needs to find out who she is and embrace her very fabulous life without the seemingly ever present need to be with a Big (or not 'Big') Love.

@GellerYeller when Carrie banged off the beer bottle top on the worktop (I couldn’t see a built in bottle top remover) DH turned to me and said ‘Can you imagine how reasonable you’d be if someone did that on our island?’ In this house, dicking about with, or doing something stupid on, the kitchen island is a capital punishment offence 😂

I thought the same!

ReeseWitherfork · 04/08/2023 13:04

@WeetabixTowels I’ll give you Trey as meh, but not Kyle MacClachlan. I think I’ll blame Showgirls but I’ve always been a big fan.

Harry was definitely the most endearing. What a love.

If we’re talking hot SATC guys then it would be amiss of me not to mention Dr Robert. Even if he turned out to be a big wiener.

WeetabixTowels · 04/08/2023 13:05

Oh yes Dr Robert 🤤 I don’t think he was a weiner though! He just didn’t appreciate being dumped for a pipsqueak like Steve.

CornishGem1975 · 04/08/2023 13:09

Ugh Dr Robert was the ick heard around the world. I couldn't stand him.

8misskitty8 · 04/08/2023 13:15

Smith was the hottest with and without hair !

ReeseWitherfork · 04/08/2023 13:23

Peak hotness when he was actually shaving his head though. That whole scene and the way he played it.

@CornishGem1975 I agree. I just watched the one where he was having a go at Miranda on the stairs and making fun of her 'sex noises' It was soooo awful to watch! Envy

Oh god yes, that makes my stomach turn 😑I skip that episode.

It was quite funny though when she thought he was mooning over her but it turns out he was having loads of threesomes 😂

I thought that was a really weird change in character for Robert, probably designed by the writers to make Steve more appealing. He seemed like a decent sort before that and there was no indication that he was an arse.

DickingAboutWithAubergines · 04/08/2023 14:03

Clothes were mostly a miss this week, especially Miranda's per una long statement necklace. Loved Carrie's grey boots though, and Seema look fabulous at the end.

I'm thinking maybe Carrie is deep down guilty about moving on so she clears her conscience by rewriting the past. She was besotted with Big (far more than he with her for sure). All her beaus have been dull as, but at least Big was charismatic. Aidan is definitely not for her - didn't Big once say 'after a while you just want someone that makes you laugh'. That is not Aidan; he'd put a glass eye to sleep that one. And enough with the pepper pot, who cares.

Love Harry and Charlotte's relationship- Harry is so chilled and he adores Charlotte.

I really hope Anthony will be happy, love him.

Che isn't as annoying away from Miranda, but Miranda is still annoying in every scene.

I also agree that Seema seems to be onto something. There was lots of face pulling.

Although the “I love you” cookie makes me queasy.

@DickingAboutWithAubergines Per Una is spot on... hated Miranda's clothes in the office and they were exactly that... sub-par M&S.

Gotthegre · 04/08/2023 14:32

Surely if Big was a mistake then the whole original series was totally pointless?

TheNameIsDickDarlington · 04/08/2023 14:34

Figgygal · 04/08/2023 10:23

Where the fuck has this nonsense about big being a mistake come from? Horrible even if she is in the giddy love stage

Agreed! They were married for many years they built a life together, now that he's dead and she's having some orgasms it all was a mistake?!

I don't like how suddenly Aiden and Carrie are full on buying stuff for their little love nest (Ches house) and giggling together and talking about meeting his kids, they've been apart for a long time and it seems like they're trying to pretend they were perfect for eachother all along and have just hurtled themselves into a life together after a couple of weeks.

I thought it was a belt. 😁

Gotthegre · 04/08/2023 14:32

Exactly @Gotthegre . Hopefully this is what the writers are leading up to - this all comes crashing down and Carrie feels intense remorse for basically trashing her entire marriage and the many years of angst that was her and Big's love story.

That said, I'm not completely sure Carrie's ever felt intense remorse about anything apart from shoes she didn't buy!

ShinyPikachu · 04/08/2023 14:46

Carrie and Aiden going this fast just smacks of rebound (although I know it's different after losing a spouse rather than a breakup). After her disgust in the past at living out of the city with him there's no way that would work with her, the chickens (who would definitely fly at her face to prove that they could) and I just can't see her being like a step-mum even despite Aiden's boys all being older.

Their relationship feels like it should have been a fun FWB situation when he's in the city and she could have had some disastrous dates in between.

While I was never a fan of Big I hated the "was he a mistake" thing. The only time to ask that would have been before they had spent a long time together, apparently happily married. It would have been much nicer to accept that she had had a good marriage, but she was now widowed and looking for love again. It doesn't always have to be just one "love of your life", it's possible to have multiple good relationships and be in love each time.

I'm never going to be able to eat a cookie again without wondering how it would taste with garlic in it. Just WTAF to that part.

TheNameIsDickDarlington · 04/08/2023 14:47

I loved LTWs green bum bag! About 4 years ago I had to sit through a tedious bum bag meeting at work so I was glad to see someone actually stylish with one! (Even if she's not a real person)

I could have cried about Charlotte's Meno-belly. I've started early menopause and the belly is the bane of my life and I'm so self conscious of it (and young enough that I know people who notice it will wonder if I'm pregnant) so I was both glad to see an issue that resonated with me and self conscious about her tiny little belly compared to mine.

Charlotte was right about the belt being the whole thing though.

NeedToThinkOfOne · 04/08/2023 12:17

He always reminded me a little of Norman Lamont.

Oh what a comparison 🤣 @WeetabixTowels I really can’t see that.

Big always reminded me of Sam the Eagle from the Muppets.

Surely if Big was a mistake then the whole original series was totally pointless?

This!
I never liked Big or even thought he was attractive, which surprised me as I thought he was very sexy as Logan in law and Order.
I sat through how many seasons of Carrie and Big, hoping someone better would come along, but then thought, in the end, OK, they are meant to be together.
And now Carrie says he was a mistake? they can fuck right off.

I hope she backtracks and realizes that what she has with Aiden right now isn’t the real thing and she is still grieving.
Maybe Miranda didn’t say anything because she knew Carrie would regret saying it later?
