But of course the big question is, will Arabella Weir move in two doors down?

Oh FFS not ANOTHER grooming story

CyanCrystalViolet · 04/08/2023 20:56

Who is Dom? Shock

GrandTheftWalrus · 04/08/2023 20:56

Who he?

PrincessScarlett · 04/08/2023 21:01

I reckon (desperately hoping) that Dom is her long lost dad rather than some creepy groomer. She has been moaning about living with old grandparents so she may have gone looking for her dad.

AutumnCrow · 04/08/2023 21:02

So Dom's some bloke she's met off her tablet?

Cue: Stu guilt, Yasmeen angst, naked granddad revelations.

CyanCrystalViolet · 04/08/2023 21:15

I hope it’s her dad and not some bloke she’s been chatting to on the internet, because that would be so 1999.

Jitterybugs · 04/08/2023 21:21

How convenient that the previously unbelievable storyline between between Gemma and Henry Newton ( and Ridley) has been resurrected. Just at a time when the Rovers is about to go under. Now if only we could join up the dots and find a way to coerce him to save the pub.

Very much hoping this is right and that he's a nice dad. Do we know anything about him (the dad)?

As much as I'd prefer this to another grooming storyline, isn't that how Tim joined Corrie?

I know. They must think we zip up the back!

Yasmeen is very irritating. Aliyah drives me mad too, but she does have a lovely smile.

And beautiful hair Grin

Jitterybugs · 04/08/2023 23:40

I’m not sure which was more nausea inducing tonight. Was it Gail and Sarah all aglow and dewy eyed over the offer of a cuppa in bed? Or was it Sarah suddenly wanting to make Harry her priority despite rarely ever being in the same room as the poor little lad??

Good acting between Bernie and Paul. Those tears looked real.

I have a horrible feeling that Jenny’s bleeding gums are the result of leukaemia, and Stephen is going to try to exploit this.

I watched this episode today, I took the 'bleeding gums' comment as a joke as after this he said something like "you've got a bit of lippy on your teeth"

WiddlinDiddlin · 05/08/2023 05:07

I thought Owens behaviour was strange, as if he was negging her, and also odd she wasn't really picking up on it either, yet he was pretty spikey and unpleasant!

The pub drama is wooden and awkward - all Jennys customers/friends/employees ALL deciding she's out to cash in big time, at a time when anyone who drinks in pubs knows prices are going up and pubs are struggling, and acting viciously towards her?!

Are we going to see Jenny fall prey to Stephen as shes so sad and lonely and desperate?

Clawdy · 05/08/2023 08:09

Yes, I hope the Eliza story isn't yet another grooming one. Years ago Sarah went to meet a teenage boy she met online, and it turned out it was a middle aged man. Then in another story, Toyah went to meet someone she thought was her long lost dad, and it was a creepy older bloke. It's all been done before!

Helendegenerate · 05/08/2023 11:46

The writers have a problem indeed. Either rehash old storylines or invent completely unrealistic ones. The quads. Wow that will pull the viewers in! Then oops how do we continue with them? Social housing doesn't seem to exist on Corrie but by now in the real world Gemma and her brood would be in at least a 3 bedroom property. Wet lettuce Chesney needs a rocket up his backside too.

The one redeeming scene of late was Paul and Bernie's tearful and very emotional one. So realistic. I think it's called acting. Daisy/Gail/black builder bloke/and most of the rest of the cast, take note!

Brilliant acting from Bernie and Paul actors very realistic.

As if Henry newton would look twice at someone like Gemma, so ridiculous.

Wasn't it a council owned house when the Battersbys moved in?

Daffodilsandtuplips · 05/08/2023 17:04

I was born in a two bed terraced house, ‘two up, two down’ similar to Corrie. My parents, me and my two siblings and my gran lived there until I was 8. My parents slept in the back bedroom, me and my sister and brother shared the bigger front bedroom, one part of the room was closed off by a curtain for my brother. (he was the oldest, 12 when I was born, sister was 10.)Gran had the front parlour.

JMSA · 05/08/2023 17:31

I really like Jenny, but you'd think she'd have a meeting with her bar staff to let them know what's going on with their shifts, rather than have them find out from the rota!
And a notice in the pub about the price increases.
A lovely friend, but a piss poor manager!

Exactly!! Why didn't she call a staff meeting and explain how bad things are. Bizarre.

JMSA · 05/08/2023 17:53

I know, it's weird! It's like the script writers are just thinking on their feet. Talk about winging it and hoping for the best!

CyanCrystalViolet · 05/08/2023 20:02

Just been watching some classic Corrie, thanks to this thread. Blimey, it’s a completely different programme isn’t it. I stopped watching around 2003 and didn’t start again until 2018, had forgotten how funny it used to be. Fred Elliott and lovely Vera and Jack. Norris, Blanche, Betty. A bustling Rovers. It’s lost all its charm.
