But of course the big question is, will Arabella Weir move in two doors down?

Caffeine's a bit of a tame weapon for serial killer Stephen, isn't it? I know he favours the low tech option, and I wouldn't want to speculate about potentially dangerous doses, but come on. Expecting to do poor old Elaine in on day 1 was a bit of a stretch.

Ah, but he's replaced her heart pills with caffeine pills, so presumably he's going for a heart attack.

DahliaMacNamara · 15/06/2023 11:11

They're high blood pressure tablets, standard issue. DH and I both take the same ones, and have never been warned off caffeine. I suppose the switcheroo would be less than ideal, medically speaking, but even so, it's still a bit optimistic on Stephen's part to think he could bump her off and get his grubby paws on the life insurance in time to buy Carla's shares in the factory.
Looking into my crystal ball, I see at least one further shot at dispatching Elaine, foiled by a late intervention by supersleuth Tim.

Tim did not notice that Stephen had no bread even though he claimed to have gone out for some and then Tim failed to notice it at the flat.

I thought the same (also on BP tablets) but assumed I'd misremembered what Elaine was on.

I'm so bored of the whole Stephen storyline, they do like to drag things out

Bagpuss2022 · 16/06/2023 11:33

Why can’t Max do his uncle Stephen in and go back to the YTC I never thought there could be a worse actor than Max but Stephen is dire becoming a comedy character now

Neverinamonthofsundays · 16/06/2023 11:40

What does he get out of Elaine dying? They are not married so he has no entitlement to her money so I am not sure what he gets out of it? It is ridiculous at this point anyway. I mean no police investigating Leo? Nothing about Rufus?

eddiemairswife · 16/06/2023 12:00

Stephen is such a terrible actor I'm surprised he has managed to have a job. What else has he done? (I know the answer is to Google him!)

Neverinamonthofsundays · 16/06/2023 13:40

Well I have just googled him and astonished to find out he actually is American. It sounds the most fake accent on the planet but it is a real one!

And aside from that he has been in films and everything. I have never, thankfully, come across him in anything bar corrie.

Overandabove1 · 16/06/2023 13:40

he has set up life insurance for her with himself as the beneficiary when she dies!

Overandabove1 · 16/06/2023 13:40

Sorry that was in response to @Neverinamonthofsundays

Neverinamonthofsundays · 16/06/2023 13:41

Ah I see. Well it will be nice to see the end of her too. Shes a terrible actress also.

EachandEveryone · 15/06/2023 08:44

Is it just me or, is David getting more attractive with age? Im blaming this on Harry Styles who I went to see the other night!

this is surely a symptom of heatstroke.

TheMurderousGoose · 16/06/2023 13:55

I'm fascinated by how bad an actor Stephen is. Even when he's trashing the factory it's so wooden. He can't even chuck some knickers about in a convincing manner.

Elaine deserves to die though. Just for being so bloomin' irritating.

bizzey · 16/06/2023 15:43

Surely that deadly spiral staircase in Elaine's and Stephan's flat will be used at some point ??!!!😉😉🤔😁😁

AutumnCrow · 16/06/2023 16:11

So is Stephen actor ‘doing’ a Canadian accent?

It's interesting that the Stephen story line is running in parallel with the Richard Hillman one in Classic Corrie - I know which one I find the best.

I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I think the producers have seen how much fans have engaged with Classic Corrie (it’s the top-rated show on ITV3) and couldn’t resist the chance to try to recreate one of its most famous storylines, complete with the original key players at its centre - and just in time for the stories to run concurrently.

Unfortunately, I think it’s backfired. Seeing how brilliantly the Richard story was done only highlights the massive flaws in the current story with Stephen.

AutumnCrow · 16/06/2023 16:49

Yes @WomanStanleyWoman2 the central 'villain' actor has to be able to carry the story and everyone else along with him / her. This is why the Meena story in Emmerdale became such a ridiculous pantomime; so much so that the whole of Emmerdale has forgotten about it!

In Corrie, I thought that Geoff was a terrific villain because ?Ian Bartholomew was convincing in the role and able to lift the slightly crap actors into bearable territory.

Can't make my mind up on Elaine, whether it's insipid acting or the writers are letting her down.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 16/06/2023 17:59

Paula Wilcox was Laurel’s mom in Emmerdale a few years ago and she did fine then. I think the writers have actually made Elaine enough of a drip who endlessly babbles on to make us almost want Stephen to kill her 😄

Anyone old enough to remember Paul’s Wilcox in the sitcom “Man About The House” in the early 1970s. I had a crush on Richard O’Sullivan.

Paula Wilcox autocorrected to Paul’s Wilcox. Could have been worse I suppose and said Paul and Will’s Cox 😱

Yes

JadeSeahorse · 16/06/2023 18:54

Totally agree about Elaine's apartment. It looks like a very dated funeral home.🙄

However, have I missed something? I thought they were buying a very posh flat in Redbanks - very upmarket apparently - and yet the ambulance collected Elaine from the top of Coronation Street.

Surely someone is going to suss out the vile Stephen soon. Can't believe Audrey has never once received any paperwork following the equity release Stephen fraudulently arranged.

They never think things through in Corrie do they! As if the posh flat would be on coronation street !
