No sympathy for Fred. Chasing a 45 year old recently widowed businesswoman is pretty seedy when you’re 66 or whatever, but it is a really foul and misogynistic act, buying a woman less than half your age from a developing country. The more men who get scammed, the better.

I agree. Cilla is supremely unnattractive. 😖

Yet the actress Wendi Peters has such a lovely face. Nice smile, twinkly eyes, gorgeous red hair, and a generally vibrant luminous face.

No idea how she makes herself look so repugnant. (As Cilla!)😆

The wardrobe department must have REALLY sewn Gail into that dressing gown, as it stayed intact through that whole catfight 🤣

And I remembered the "here's the other one - the rest of the Village People" from first time round, and I still laughed out loud this time 😅

Ooooh, I still have this to come! I record the Corries as I am sometimes working (or out) when it's on, and then I watch it later and skip the breaks!

I am looking forward to seeing it later. Eileen and Gail catfighting. YAY! 😆

I always thought that the make up department at Corrie deserved medals in the way they transformed the very soft and pretty Wendi Peters, into the bag of spanners that wad Cilla Brown!

SAME! I do not remember Harry at all. And neither does my DH. I also don't remember Fred and Orchid either ... (And neither does DH!)

Yet we both remember the Todd and Karl/Todd coming out to Sarah storyline, and the aftermath!!! And bossy Sally with her precious first born, and her wanting her to Shirley bloody Temple! (Under 50s, google it) 😆

Ahhh that was such a brilliant catfight scene with Gail and Eileen, and the whole street watching while Sarah Lou was in the background. And even though Todd’s a bastard, it was heartbreaking to see him crying like that while Jason walked away. Corrie was so great back then.

I thought a few parts of the Gail/Eileen fight seemed weirdly choppy and wondered if they'd cut some bits out so watched the scene again on YouTube! They've taken out a fair few lines of dialogue where Gail calls Todd a pervert and asks if he wanted to sleep with David as well as Nick and Sarah...obviously decided it wasn't PC enough for today's audience!

Oh, that's a bit sad. I loved the 'village people' comment though.

It's odd that so many have no recollection of the Fred and Orchid storyline or the character Harry, I wonder why?

I have only a sketchy memory of Fred and Orchid, but I do remember the character of Harry.

It was janky wasn't it? Todd was behind the couch, and then half a second later was outside with Gail! I'm gonna go on youttube now and find that clip. Thanks for the heads-up!

The village people comment was funny though, but yeah, I did feel a bit for Todd with his brother reacting so badly to him being gay.

Oh and Gail and Eileen's fight was amazing!

I also remember Wendi Peters dancing with Sally Dynevor and Michael Le Vell in a video. June Whitfield was in it, and Tess Daly, along with Bob Carolgees and Spit the Dog. And others.

Yeah I watched the you tube clip last week and saw it had been cut today
They could of just put the usual.disclaimer about it reflecting attitudes at the time of original filming etc .
