Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

I’m going to continue my rant about Che fucking Diaz and the Artist Formerly Known as Miranda.

When Che was doing her ‘comedy show’ and talking about stepping out your comfort zone and living your best life…Miranda did this thing where she looked worried and darted her stupid eyes about as if to say “Oh gosh she’s talking about me and my sexless marriage aaaargh”.

WTAF! Miranda Hobbs is an intelligent and independent woman who doesn’t need some annoying wankstain to remind her she could leave her marriage if she wanted to. She left Steve in the first movie and was fine - she got her own apartment, and she moved on until she decided to forgive Steve. She doesn’t strike me as someone who wouldn’t consider leaving, she’s financially stable but apparently she needed some cringey platitudes about happiness.

Speaking of personality changes - I give you, Charlotte. Old Charlotte would NEVER have screamed swear words at her husband in the street or got angry about playing tennis. Maybe her big stupid lip fillers seeped into her brain (they’re VERY distracting).

Also I’m glad Big died. He was an annoying twat

I like the rant 😁

And agree with every word!

Just rewatched the episode of SATC where Miranda's mother dies. It's so good, so moving and funny also, with Miranda trying to be so strong.

Needhelp101 · 08/06/2023 22:55

Totally agree about Big too, the rapey bastard

Oh that episode was absolutely perfect! So many shows deal with grief terribly, and STAC did it so well. When Carrie joins her walking down the aisle, it was so powerful and touching.

And to think Steve turned up at the funeral even though they weren’t together 🥺 Che fucking Diaz would never do that she’d be too busy smoking weed and making crap jokes.

FluffyCat17 · 08/06/2023 23:11

Signing up for the hate watch.

I always liked Aidan and was annoyed that Carrie ended up with Big. I put it down to her being a vacant clothes horse.

Yes, it was wonderful. Carrie holding Miranda's hand to her heart... I properly sobbed doesn't take much tbh

But also the laughs with Charlotte ordering the massive flowers and Sam trying to find her orgasm - which story line of course then segues into pathos again.

It was wonderful writing. Not expecting the same from AJLT 2 but I live in hope!

Lottapianos · 09/06/2023 08:30

'When Carrie joins her walking down the aisle, it was so powerful and touching.'

I've seen that episode so many times, but that bit always makes me cry

Muhwanda · 09/06/2023 13:37

Ah, I love that whole episode it’s perfect. I love the first three quarters of episodes (up until just after Carrie and Aidan get engaged) of season 4 the most I think. The friendships seems so genuine, whenever I read about Sarah / Kim hating each other I almost can’t believe it- but that’s acting I guess!

Yes and I think AJLT really demonstrated how much Kim Catrall carried SATC - none of the other women would have been missed as much as she was

thebellagio · 09/06/2023 14:09

I don’t know that I agree @LifeIsPainHighness

i would have missed the SATC charlottes naievity and endless optimism and definitively the SATC Miranda’s ballsy-ness and cynicism. But I could definitely now have a series withou the AJLT Miranda who is a self centered bitch

in SATC the characters were nuanced and well rounded with strengths and weaknesses . That all lost in translation in AJLT where they were so badly written

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 09/06/2023 18:06

I think people are talking about My Motherboard Myself. That episode absolutely kills me. I've seen it a hundred times and it gets me every time. Miranda and her bra fitting. Carrie taking the phone call in the middle of the night and meeting the other girls the next day completely broken hearted for her friend. I think it's sublime from beginning to end.

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 09/06/2023 18:30

Signing in to hate watch series two. I am re-hate watching the first season at the moment in prep. Also this may have been mentioned, but I'm enjoying this podcast on the show - hosted by a couple of Canadians who seem to hate it as much as me (but are also still watching) https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/and-just-like-what-a-sex-and-the-city-podcast/id1542882455

It’s a masterpiece.

I was a foul moody bastard after my dad died, bubbling with anger and spite. Not many shows portray that. SATC did it beautifully

LifeIsPainHighness · 09/06/2023 22:42

Going back to Che - she’s supposedly this hot up and coming celebrity. She would get oodles of pretty little 20yo’s snapping at her heels for a shag. Why would she settle for a 50-odd year old woman with no lesbian experience who’s married to a man and has a revolting teenage son?

Im also confused as to if she is monogamous with Miranda. She doesn’t seem the one-woman type.

I have to say as excruciating as it is to watch Miranda and Che, I thought it portrayed an unfaithful person really well. I’ve had friends become unfaithful and the total selfishness and disregard for other people’s feelings - only the total joy of their new relationship - was portrayed just like Miranda. Who was practically giddy when dumping Steve. And the whole “I’m in a romcom Carrie” - eugh. I remember when a friend left her lovely DH for a work colleague and was crowing about how loaded his parents are. So fucking crass and Miranda reminded me very much of of her at that stage in her life.

Yes definitely which is why it would been far more believable if they had stuck to the apparently original storyline and have Miranda fall for her tutor and have a relationship with her
I think I would have been more nuanced and viewers might e have had more sympathy for the characters

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 11/06/2023 15:47

Or for Che to have messed Miranda around.

benfoldsfivefan · 19/06/2023 21:01

Signing in for Thursday!

Lottapianos · 19/06/2023 21:17

I researched the last two episodes of series 1 the other day in preparation for series 2. Dear god, it's worse than I remember! Charlotte and her bratty daughter faffing with tampons during a dinner party 🙄 Che gathering her 'friends and fam' in a club and literally singing California Girls at them to announce that she's off to LA, without telling Miranda first 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

EachandEveryone · 19/06/2023 22:21

Did you see Kim Cattrell has got a new show starting on the same night?

Remind me, did Miranda go with her? Im going away on Wednesday so will record. I hope this thread isnt going to be full of people just slagging it off because even last season there were glimmers of hope. I really dont want it to be cancelled as theres really not much else of this genre on. If anything.

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 22:28

Place marking for Thursday too!

Hate Che, disappointed in Miranda
The Brady stuff was ridiculous
Definitely more Anthony needed
I didn't mind Carrie, much better than she was in SATC

benfoldsfivefan · 19/06/2023 22:34

Remind me, did Miranda go with her?

Yes, Miranda turned down the prestigious internship and went to LA with the dreaded Che.

tribpot · 19/06/2023 22:37

I think based on the last thread @EachandEveryone the comments will be balanced. There were some things to enjoy about the last season; most of the new cast members were interesting additions with their own stories to tell (the fact that each original member got their own New Best Friend of Colour was a bit painful, but that wasn't a reflection on the performances). The show is at least trying to tackle ageing and menopause, grief and I suspect we may have a serious illness coming up given Harry's tests at the end of the last season (if they kill Harry off, I'm officially out). It would be nice if they would tackle Empty Nest Syndrome, but Brady is such an annoying little fucker that him shipping off to college can only be a massive cause for celebration all round.

LifeIsPainHighness · 20/06/2023 01:46

🤣🤣🤣
I don’t know if it’s something about the actor or the storyline of his constant shagging and wanking but Brady made me feel physically sick. And there’s no way Old Miranda would have allowed his girlfriend to wander about her house half naked in her post-shag t-shirt being rude to Miranda and Steve.

tribpot · 20/06/2023 10:56

The actor appeared in the excellent Life In Pieces as well, although I do seem to recall now that he played a similarly annoying teen in that too, with an unfeasibly beautiful blonde girlfriend. Fun fact - he's 29! Definitely time for Miranda to be shipping his sorry arse off to college.

benfoldsfivefan · 21/06/2023 22:58

Does anyone know what time it'll be on Now TV tomorrow?
