Late to this… persevered through it but god, it’s awful. Miranda is sooo annoying. All the woke stuff is just so trite.

I am kind of interested in Carrie’s storyline so will watch to the end but I’m not sure why!

How do you access series 2 in UK? It was sky comedy last time

It hasn't started yet - about three weeks to go. Joining everyone else here to hate watch it!

tribpot · 02/06/2023 22:24

So according to the Radio Times, it will air on Sky Comedy and NOW TV in the UK at the same time as it airs on HBO in the US.

This article contains the quote of doom:
Showrunner Michael Patrick King added: "One of my burning passions about Season 2 is Che. I want to show the dimension of Che that people didn’t see, for whatever reason — because they were blinded, out of fear or terror."

Sure. It was blind terror of a non-binary character, and not the fact that the character was dire.

EvenmoreDisorganised · 02/06/2023 22:35

How patronising. Che was just obnoxious and the storyline jarred massively.

Jackiebrambles · 02/06/2023 22:39

Oh god I’m a bit fearful for season 2 of this. But I will have to watch if only for the KC bit.

Netaporter · 02/06/2023 22:47

FFS. ‘Fear or terror’ my arse. Or maybe Che would’ve been equally hated as a male/female/whatever. It’s a shit, manipulative character and would never had passed scrutiny in today’s age if written for a male.

Stormydanielss · 02/06/2023 22:50

Another here who watched through gritted teeth, poor Steve made to be like an 80 year old,
che and Miranda 🤮 Miranda used to have a back bone!
Miranda's cocky college tutor 🙄
Jeez it was a ball of a mess but I kept watching, I think maybe out of loyalty to the love of the old series

JandalsAlways · 02/06/2023 22:50

I initially hated it, but then decided I quite liked it. It seemed appropriate given they were all much older now, and I liked it for what it was. It would have been better with Samantha though, but even maybe that was a good thing as people do move and drift.

mondaytosunday · 02/06/2023 23:06

I just do not see Che falling for such a simpering, annoying wet blanket that Miranda has become. Makes no sense at all.

imfae · 03/06/2023 00:37

I am re watching series 1 now and liking it a bit better . I agree I watched the first time through gritted teeth . I persevered as I loved SATC and was genuinely gutted when it finished .

I think for the audience we understand that SATC and Friends etc are rightly now criticised for their lack of diversity . However I wish they didn't try and shoe horn all these new extra characters in a blatant tick boxing exercise . It seems very false and risks making these characters so one dimensional .

I don't really find the Che and Miranda storyline very plausible . Although , Che comes across as very annoying I would be ok with her as a character as Carrie's boss if Miranda was taking out of the mix with her .

Am sort of looking forward to series 2 , especially with Samantha's brief appearance . Have always loved the clothes and whilst loving the lifestyles it was always difficult to equate Carrie's lifestyle and income in the earlier series . Since marrying Big and now as a wealthy widow Carrie seems to have free rein to splurge without restraint . She also has her own income from her books , writing and podcasts .

I liked the characters of Steve and Harry and do find it disappointing that they are given very few lines .

stringbean · 03/06/2023 07:15

Place-marking. Less Che and more Anthony would be a start. Season 1 was like watching a slow-motion car crash: just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it did! Can't forgive them for what they've done to Miranda's character. Or Steve. Or Charlotte's face, for that matter.

JandalsAlways · 03/06/2023 07:47

I'll need to watch it again, I don't remember Miranda being that bad. I wasn't surprised she got bored of Steve. Like she always said, he wasn't a "core shaker".

Muhwanda · 03/06/2023 08:02

Another hate watcher signing in! So gutted about what they did to Miranda, she was my fav in the original series. Hoping for less Che and her comedy concerts. I’d like them to focus on the successes eg Miranda’s career now? Or charlottes. I want to see strong, successful women not nervy parodies. I liked Carries realtor friend actually, hoping for more of her.

She went from being a kick-ass partner in a law firm to suddenly not knowing how to talk to a black woman just because she was black.

It was fucking ridiculous.

x2boys · 03/06/2023 10:05

It was said in the other thread that originally Miranda was supposed to have relationship with her college professor which would have been far more believable but Cynthia Nixon wanted Sara Ramirez ,hence the abysmal.Che

CornishGem1975 · 03/06/2023 10:24

I actually liked it, if you view it as a completely standalone programme.

Rotormotor · 03/06/2023 22:40

Just watched the final one. How annoying is the trans rabbi?? And at this point I cannot stand Miranda. She’s a big wet blanket.

ready to watch S2 though…😆

I ended up hate-watching it. So annoying that they basically changed Miranda’s entire personality.

Hate Che. Wish she wasn’t come back for series two which I will also hate-watch

20 years ago Miranda would be on the coffee shop loudly proclaiming how non binary and trans ideology is regressive and sexist and she won’t be bullied into thinking men are women.

But somehow Miranda Hobbs magically transformed into Cynthia Nixon and that’s who she’s playing. Herself and her story.

Yep.and Carrie,s column would ha've an article about it and should we be pandering to them calling them ,them ,they etc, .

CornishGem1975 · 04/06/2023 08:42

Yeah but to be fair they couldn't include that now or the whole show and the cast would be cancelled.

TennisWithDeborah · 04/06/2023 10:30

Che is absurd. The show needs more Steve, Harry, Anthony. I hope that Aiden works well as a character.

The real estate woman was great in S1 and I hope she remains in S2. Loved Natasha’s reappearance but no need for her in S2 I suspect.

The NY scenes and the fashions were as good in S1 as they ever were in the original.

I thought that SJP performed her grief scenes brilliantly.

Carrie’s neighbour was excellent.

There was plenty to like but a lot of it was poor.

Lottapianos · 04/06/2023 11:26

'20 years ago Miranda would be on the coffee shop loudly proclaiming how non binary and trans ideology is regressive and sexist and she won’t be bullied into thinking men are women.'

God, how wonderful would that be

I was terrified of Che but not remotely for the reasons MPK may be assuming!

I’m not sure she would. In the US the anti-trans rhetoric is so tied up with the Conservative right that I think gender critical arguments are much harder to make than even here without aligning yourself with truly misogynistic oppressive ideas. It must be stifling. Even less nuance possible than over here.

Rotormotor · 04/06/2023 11:32

Oh great….more Che 🙄

yes…SJP acted really well.
