Although re the Colin scene I mentioned, I'm also wondering if that was foreshadowing the Kendal lake/waiter incident coming back into play for the finale. Not that Colin would blab but the siblings might if desperate to stop or hurt Kendal.
Urgh it's going to be brutal isn't it, whatever happens!

Also just listening to the Firecrotch and Normcore succession podcast and they said that Kerry's brother was played by her actual brother! And they have an interview with Lady Caroline

At first I thought it was Greg in the car but now I think it's Tom.

So do I now. And maybe Jess is Tom's new assistant. As Greg is part of the family

AvonCallingBarksdale · 23/05/2023 10:31

God it was such a brilliant episode! “Here he is, the Grim Weeper” 😢 poor Roman. Can’t call it at all for next week. Did Tom ditch a sleep in the apartment to get in Mattsen’s car? Did he sob because he knew he’s about to completely shaft Shiv by becoming US ceo?? Caroline’s so acerbic I love her.

franke · 23/05/2023 10:35

@Lenovolaptop I like your idea of the CEO being offered to Kendall. But I think in the end Mattson despises all three kids too much. It would be an interesting dilemma for Kendall though.

I thought Marcia extending her hand to Kerry was a bum note actually. She just wouldn't have done it.

Yes I was so confused by this! Also Kerry's fake tears were annoying.

Although I loved that Kerry came with a lawyer for potential access issues 😂

Greg will definitely be in there regardless of who is at the helm. He is unsinkable.

Tom is out, unless he can keep the marriage to Shiv alive. It's his best chance to get even crumbs.

Roman is out.

Shiv will be eaten by Mattson/Mencken and won't last. She thinks she's way smarter than she is.

Kendall is the big question mark. Can he take over? He has it in him, but can he win against the board?

MarciaSaysANumber · 23/05/2023 10:41

Well, it isn’t a succession if Mattson gets it - that’s just a sale. We have to see what the kids succeed to. (Which could be nothing, I suppose.)

Genzken · 23/05/2023 10:51

I think Jess just left because of new president and ATN involvement, i'd be surprised if she went to work for Mattsen.

I didn't buy the Kerry / Marcia thing either. Marcia is hard as nails and according to the Succession timeline had humiliated her at the apartment just a few days earlier and I can't imagine Caroline going out of her way to offer a nice gesture like that to anyone.

Netaporter · 23/05/2023 11:00

I think Kendall will emerge as the King only for the dead waiter to come back and haunt him.

agree Tom heading for some sort of episode leaving Shiv with no one.

Shiv will be shafted by Mattson, Roman cooked his goose at the funeral.

XelaM · 23/05/2023 11:03

I thought she did that to spite Marcia but Marcia didn't take the bate

XelaM · 23/05/2023 11:03

bait*

hopeishere · 23/05/2023 11:14

I think the Caroline thing showed she could show empathy to people other than her own kids.

Kendal cares too much. Logan wouldn't have cared about an assistant leaving. He realised Menken is a creep and is wavering now.

Expect a very tense board meeting next week!!

WheelsUp · 23/05/2023 11:15

I like the Tom as CEO theory. Mencken would like him as he's a white guy and Matsson will like the fact that Tom will be easy to torment and belittle especially as he's "friends" with Shiv.

I think the fact that Logan calls Roman Romulus will somehow tie into the final but there's only one episode and I can't see Roman (Romulus) going against his brother (Remus)

Genzken · 23/05/2023 11:16

Oh yes, probably. Hadn't thought of that.

Tom makes perfect sense. He's completely malleable and no morals also perfect patsy should anything go wrong in the future. Greg has Mattsens ear and could have confirmed all of this.

WhathaveIdoneagain · 23/05/2023 11:26

My money is on Gerri succeeding. She has been CEO before, the markets will love her. She also knows where the bodies are buried. Matsson is too intelligent to go for Tom or Greg just for fun. He is serious about money.

My favourite scene was Caroline and Shiv "discussing" the pregnancy with just grunts and facil expressions, no full sentences. They are just amazing.

Yes, agree. Marcia chose to be magnanimous in order to own the situation.

stilldumdedumming · 23/05/2023 11:36

We are assuming that the deal will go ahead - it's not done yet!

True.

None of them look happy in the preview of the finale.

I wonder too if the character being called Roman/Romulus is a signifier to the outcome. I've always thought Roman was an odd choice of name (I know it's more popular now) but was an unusual choice for a posh English woman and working class now rich Scottish man. It didn't seem to fit. Neither did the name Kendall come to think of it.

LaviniasBigBloomers · 23/05/2023 12:07

Aaargh, part of me is 'I can't wait until Monday' and part of me is 'then it's over.'

All the names are odd. It annoys me. Like the names in the Archers!! All bizarre

I'm also unfamiliar with Siobhan spelt with Shiv at the start.

slamfightbrightlight · 23/05/2023 12:22

Isn’t “Shiv” just a phonetic rendering of her nickname? She’s still Siobhán isn’t she?

tribpot · 23/05/2023 12:26

Yes, she's Siobhan but I guess would look odd to write Siobh as the nickname.

Eyesopenwideawake · 23/05/2023 12:26

I think Stewy might be a player in the final reckoning...
