I'm remembering that Shiv told Mattson that Gerri was brilliant, and she wasn't on the list of people to let go. I really hope Gerri is the new CEO. It sure as heck isn't going to be Shiv. Surely it won't be Greg!

slamfightbrightlight · 22/05/2023 23:47

It would be beautiful if it’s Gerri!

MustardGreenAndPlum · 22/05/2023 23:47

Roman, at the end, almost with a sado-masochistic desire to get beaten up. Does anyone remember the bit in the first series about how he accused Kendall of locking him in the dog hutch but then Kendall says Roman enjoyed it.

TennisWithDeborah · 23/05/2023 00:15

An outstanding episode. Caroline, Kerry, Marcia were a joy to watch.

Orders76 · 23/05/2023 00:50

Marcia being kind was one to watch.
Is it mine 😫
His brothers honesty and Kendall's reclaiming.
Actually appreciated shivs little she had to give. Most empathy to Roman who so far can give himself nothing.

Surely by now it would be too obvious to give CEO to Greg - there's been speculation since S1 that Greg would come out on top, it would be a huge disappointment if the speculation turned out to be correct. Like the idea of Gerrit.

I wonder if all three of them will be left out in the cold so that in the week to ten days since Logan died they have managed to fritter away the company through their own incompetence.

Caramelisedbiscuitbutter · 23/05/2023 06:11

Colin at the funeral 😭

I’d be disappointed if it were Greg. It’s too obviously not obvious and therefore predictable now in a way. Plus, it’s completely unbelievable they’d appoint someone so unqualified. Having said that, Shiv mentioned that the US CEO would just be a puppet. But would Mattson really risk putting someone so hopelessly unqualified in as US CEO? I hope not. Not realistic enough for me.

franke · 23/05/2023 06:21

I agree. In the real world, installing the court jester as CEO would be a massive reputational risk. And possibly not allowed.

Genzken · 23/05/2023 06:27

Incredible. Kendall now going full Logan. Belittling Roman at the wake, telling Colin he knew about him visiting a psychiatrist and telling him to come work for him and going for custody of the kids just because he can and not that he especially wants them.

After last week of thinking Roman was biggest piece of shit ever to walk the Earth my heart broke for him again this week.

Def Gerri as US CEO, that will be brilliant.

Is it too much to hope that Tom and Shiv have a happy ending with the baby… not that either of them deserve it as they’re both awful.

Favourite line this week from Hugo ‘woof woof’.

Genius writing.

slamfightbrightlight · 22/05/2023 23:15

Oh Caroline was just delicious with Tom and Shiv. And “she was my Kerry” 😂

Read somewhere else that ‘my Kerry’ is Brian Cox’s wife.

MarciaSaysANumber · 23/05/2023 06:40

Excellent new thread title!

Really, it’s a stunning achievement that after four entire seasons we still have no idea how Roy World will look in a week’s time.

What I don’t understand is how the Waystar Elders completely failed to lock The Kids up in the mausoleum - and then issue a statement saying they’ve all gone on vacation, somewhere very far away, forever.

Gerri has been criminally underused this season, apart from that one brilliant monologue on the plane to Norway.

Did they just skip over the hymns and prayers and stuff, or do American funerals not involve those elements?

I’m so grateful for Ewan. And can’t believe I felt sorry for Greg (so long ago, now!) when his grandpa disinherited him.

And yes, my namesake and the other women were wonderful in their pew.

Over the past three weeks each of the kids has had a turn at ‘winning’ an episode. Tom ‘won’ S3. Greg’s victories are more incremental. I have no idea …

XelaM · 23/05/2023 06:49

A few tiny points:

Greg muscled into being the very first by the coffin next to Euan. He is unsinkable.

Shiv's pointless eulogy just for the sake of being seen. She's so awful, bit brilliantly acted. I'm sure Mattson won't leave her as CEO.

Mencken is hot 😍I knew he would screw them over.

I thought Kendall was the new Michael Corleone after the funeral, but then Mencken put him in his place at the wake 😃

Roman - Kendall was so brutal with him but it was so true 😂 He majorly fucked up. There's no coming back from that.

VanCleefArpels · 23/05/2023 07:02

The most powerful scene for me was Ken’s eulogy, given against a completely silent background. No Muzak in the background, just fabulous writing being given the focus it deserved by probably one of our best (method) actors. Spine tinglingly good.

MarciaSaysANumber · 23/05/2023 07:04

Despite willing the writers to avoid any fairytale ending, I do worry about Greg. He was introduced so early on in the very first episode of the show … Obviously he deserves nothing good. But writers feed on circularity. I won’t mind if the last we see of Greg is him vomiting out of the eyes of a GoJo mascot …

SunnyEgg · 23/05/2023 07:08

Still thinking about how good that was

The image of the four women sitting together was just so good. The visual made better as they all had dark hair

Lovelybrowneyedboy · 23/05/2023 07:14

And Jess, Kendoll forced her to tell him and then blamed her for her bad timing. Good on her for holding her ground, he threw his toys out of the pram and he was met with silence. Brilliant, Jess for CEO.

PuppyMonkey · 23/05/2023 07:19

Brilliant episode, I felt I lived through that day with them in real time. Roman crying! Shiv being nice to Tom! Uncle Ewan! The Women! The Mausoleum! The riot! Roman being trampled!

Already a bit depressed thinking what it’s going to be like with no more Succession to cheer up my Mondays. Sad

happystory · 23/05/2023 07:20

I woke up thinking about Euan's line 'Three weeks talking to each other with our eyes.' They were 4 and 5 and a half.
Amazing writing.

Damnspot · 23/05/2023 07:21

SmartHome · 22/05/2023 22:57

So Matson is in the car with the real US CEO right and it's ....? Geri? Greg?

Greg surely

Damnspot · 23/05/2023 07:21

Or Kendals assistant!

Damnspot · 23/05/2023 07:25

But more perfect to be Gerri

Yeah I loved all the exes together! Great move 😂

Her hand extending to Kerry made me emotional.

Bargellobitch · 23/05/2023 07:27

As it's a bank holiday next week we're planning a succession breakfast!

hopeishere · 23/05/2023 07:33

I'll be really disappointed if it's Greg.

I wonder if Shiv is looking at how fucked up the kids are and is thinking do I really want that for my child. Being at the whims of your parents and their dysfunctionality.

I thought Kendal becoming more Logan was good. Wanting the kids for the sake of it.

I wasn't so keen on Marcia being nice to Kerry. Felt unrealistic.

Roman being mean to Frank who was just trying to be nice. Awful.
