One of my favourites is when Roman returns from his brush with captivity. I’ve assumed it’s improvised (brilliantly), but it sums them up entirely - Roman seeking connection to his siblings, both incapable of it, and then Logan’s arrival ruining the bonhomie :

Roman: I did think... when I thought, you know, they were gonna... vacuum out my innards and fill me with concrete or something... Look, if we come through this... is there a thing where we like... talk to each other about stuff... normally?

Shiv: ( In silly voice ) You wanna talk to each other normally?

Roman: Okay.

Kendall: ( In silly voice ) You mean... talk about the big sh¡t?

Roman: Okay.

Shiv: Yeah, we can talk about the big sh¡t.

Kendall: We can talk about... our feelings. ( Laughter )

Roman: How am I the mature one here?

Shiv: We don't have any feelings, what are you talking about? ( Laughs ) Who is this helping?

(Logan’s Helicopter whirs ) ( Shiv laughs ) Okay. Emotional gunship incoming. Yeah, send out the distress signal. We're under attack.

I never got the appeal of TikTok until Succession. There are some amazing reels out there. I love the ones of the cast off camera, shaving Jeremy's head and singing along to harmonicas or dancing to Taylor Swift. Sarah Snook always looks like she's (as I believe the young people say) "Living her best life!"

XelaM · 04/06/2023 09:36

What is everyone's favourite episode? Mine has to be the one with the vote of no confidence against Logan that Kendall is late to. Is it Which side are you on? That was just perfection 😅

Also loved the episode where they were all at Connor's ranch with the family therapist. Is it Austerlitz? The therapist that ended ip in hospital because he jumped in the shallow pool? 😂

Yes! My tiktok fyp is currently 70% succession and I love it. I like the ones where they show a clip with the original script underneath, so interesting to see how much they divert from the original lines.

tribpot · 04/06/2023 10:51

I love the idea of 'Roythority' @ShivRoysBlender , although I feel that Roman would probably insist on playing himself in it?

SunnyEgg · 04/06/2023 11:04

I laughed at many but from memory this one

“Look at you, scanning for influence like a yuppie Robocop."

This one for delivering the punch that got them all
in the end

“I love you, but you are not serious people.”

I wonder what Jesse Armstrong will do next. He would get the green light for anything. I said to dh I hope it’s not cowboys I don’t know why but they all seem to go there eventually

I always thought that "not serious people" was dangerously close to "NRP" (No Real Person).

Spamham · 04/06/2023 11:21

When Roman finds out about the waiter’s death
“I had to wait 45 minutes for a gin and tonic, who’s the real victim here?”

Lottapianos · 04/06/2023 11:24

Another Logan gem - 'this was supposed to be choreographed. It was about as choreographed as a dog getting fucked on roller skates!'

Very Malcolm Tucker 😂

XelaM · 04/06/2023 11:39

@Spamham and @Lottapianos Love both of those 😂

XelaM · 04/06/2023 11:46

In my favourite 6th episode of season 1 during the vote of no confidence, when Roman starts raising his hand...

" “You better be smelling your fucking armpit, Romulus” 😂

malarkyintheparky · 04/06/2023 12:09

"It's like if Santa Claus was a hitman" from Greg. They used it in the trailer and it was one of those brilliant moments where there's this huge tension injected with humour.

My favourite episode was the finale on the boat in Croatia when they needed a blood sacrifice.

It is not a quote, I found it very fitting when Kendall played "Rape me" by Nirvana during Shiv's townhall meeting.

We are just watching season 1 and loving it. Of course, we understand it way more than we would have done at the time.

Connor had a lot of zingers at the charity do when he had a meltdown over the butter. I also didn't realise how loving Marcia was.

That made me laugh too it was great

Lottapianos · 04/06/2023 16:19

'My favourite episode was the finale on the boat in Croatia when they needed a blood sacrifice.'

I watched that again last week and it's so brilliant. The way Logan suggests himself as the sacrifice, they all fall over themselves to say no he couldn't possibly, and he sits back and watches them all knife each other, one by one. Then leaves them to sweat overnight. Such a bastard 😁

MustardGreenAndPlum · 04/06/2023 17:57

Tom ate the chicken. That was the turning point for him, that “fuckit I don’t care about the consequences so f you” attitude that appealed to Logan.

haribonoyoudont · 04/06/2023 18:16

"It's like Jaws, if all the people in Jaws worked for Jaws" is an absolutely perfect line.

I re-watched a bit of Peepshow yesterday and you can definitely feel the Jesse Armstrong DNA - beautifully crafted writing that is both funny and deeply discombobulating, plus brilliant characterisation (everyone is awful but in a very human, knowable way).

All i know is Sky/Now are in/on the money with Succession - I specifically waited to pay them £9.99 when I knew I could watch S4 as a boxset/binge-a-thon. Won't renew again until they do another 'corker'as good as Succession.

Whilst you have the subscription watch "Night Of". It's a short series and completely different to "Succession" but also very good.

TheHateIsNotGood · 04/06/2023 19:34

Thanks xela I'll give it a go.

I think Tom eating the chicken was my favourite moment of the show, then Logans reaction:
What the fuck was that, he ate my fucking chicken. What’s next? he puts his fucking cock in my potatoes? 🤣🤣

slamfightbrightlight · 04/06/2023 20:14

Another bit I Ioved was Gerri, Tom, Frank and Karl at Logan’s house after he died:

“Gerri to Karl: Look. I think you're a corporate legend. What you did in the '90s with cable? Huge.”

“Gerri: Oh. You're sick with grief?

Tom: But I...

Gerri: Well, you might wanna put down that fish taco. You're getting your melancholy everywhere.”

“Karl: Can I frame the question for you? But as a friend.

Tom: Sure.

Karl: Just so... so you'd be... Be prepared. The negative case would go... ( Clicks tongue ) you're a clumsy interloper and no one trusts you. The only guy pulling for you is dead. And now, you're just married to the ex-boss' daughter. ( Chuckles ) And she doesn't even like you. And you are fair and squarely fսckеd.

Tom: Jesus, Karl.”

It’s vicious but the delivery of that whole scene is just delicious.

I might have to buy the collection of scripts that’s coming out.

Lottapianos · 04/06/2023 20:54

That's such a perfect description of JA's writing. The discombobulation and the darkness are SO satisfying

Our first Sunday without the prospect of new Succession to come 😭

JaneFondue · 04/06/2023 21:55

I have moved on to Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne. It's great fun. I have a thread on it.

Also doing that thing called reading!😉
