Any main channel, Netflix or Prime please?

I'm thinking of the sort of thing that is usually 3 to 4 parts and shown over consecutive nights.Channel 5 do a lot of these things - usually set in super smart houses the character couldn't afford. Sometimes they are longer but normally less than 5 episodes

i've seen lots but am sure there must be ones I haven't seen.

Stuff like these (which I have seen as samples):

Finding Alice (ITV husband falls down bannisterless stairs of dream home he designed) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11127412/

The Catch (Ch 5) (seemingly perfect new bf of daughter freaks out her fisherman father) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11127412/

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (Netflix) woman believes she sees murder in house opposite, parody thriller https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13315324/

The Stranger (Netflix, Harlan Coben) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stranger_(British_TV_series)

Finding Alice (TV Series 2021) - IMDb

Finding Alice: Created by Roger Goldby, Simon Nye, Keeley Hawes. With Keeley Hawes, Isabella Pappas, Nigel Havers, Kenneth Cranham. Alice's husband of 20 years, Harry, falls down the stairs and dies soon after the couple move into the dream home he des...

I haven't seen anyone mention The Pact; both series. Bloody brilliant

Not a psychological thriller but I quite enjoyed Transatlantic. It's based on the true story of the Emergency Rescue Committee which was getting people out of Vichy France during WWII.

It's been given some Hollywood polish and you know it cannot go on for long.

Trapped. Icelandic thriller. Can't remember how many episodes but pretty sure it wasn't a Netflix special- 10 episodes hugely drawn out!

I started this thread asking for dramas but last night watched Old the M Night Shamalan film on Netflix. It's about a swanky resort where people get stuck on a private beach ... I won't say more due to spoilers but it doesn't go well. I liked it (it's not Citizen Kane or anything) but it has a sort of similar feel to it to the series that I like so thought I'd mention it here as it may appeal to people with the same tastes. Sort of cross between drama, thriller and horror. Has a (very slight) Agatha Christie feel to it - situation rather than plot.

Continuing my progress through some of the recommendations
I watched Deadline (now on Netflix originally Channel 5) about a socialite accused of murdering her husband and enlists a journalist to help find the killer.

Enjoyable -first couple of episodes are excellent - but got increasingly bizarre with a terrible (and annoyingly implausible, plot holed) ending. Still would give it a worth watching rating but be prepared to be annoyed.

I still don't understand who the weird assistant/lawyer Mrs Molnar or whatever her name was, was exactly or why she was so welded to Natalie and willing to help her with more extreme matters.

Yep totally agree with your view on this one - I finished it last night. First two episodes were quite fascinating but definitely got increasingly odd and didn't quite hang together by the end.

ABoyCalledBasil · 02/06/2023 16:55

@arlow - yes I know. People don't just go round shooting people for other people without any explanation as to the hold they have over them. Unless I missed it?

Just seen about this For Her Sins starting on Ch 5 on Monday. Looks exactly like the sort of thing I was asking about in my OP so putting it here for anyone else on this thread for recommendations or ideas.

I've got a couple of Channel 5 dramas to watch that meet your brief:

The Holiday (with Jill Halfpenny)
No Return (Sheridan Smith)

Am also planning to watch Chloe - think it's on Netflix now.

Yes. I agree. Doesn't have any woolly padding, acting is excellent. I think it's based on a UK series.

BlueVinca · 03/06/2023 14:51

Although Greta on Netflix is a film rather than series you might like it.

ABoyCalledBasil · 03/06/2023 15:32

@mum2jakie thank you but I've seen both of those.
I didn't really like The Holiday - it was one of those ones I found annoying because alot of the characters were irriating.

The Victim is brilliant!!!! I keep recommending it to people but very few people I know have seen it. It's fantastic acting and screenplay.

mysonsmother82 · 03/06/2023 15:51

I just finished Inside Man on Netflix and really enjoyed it.

Radyward · 03/06/2023 18:13

@xelam

The Secrets She Keeps on BBC i player was really good too

LBFseBrom · 03/06/2023 21:12

Thanks for the heads up for 'The Secrets She Keeps', I will try that and 'The Victim'. I am currently re-watching 'Bodies', picking up on details I missed first time around. It is so compelling! If it was a book it would be 'unputdownable'. I find it particularly interesting having worked in the NHS for many years, oh the politics and the dog eat dog attitudes! I also think the cast is amazing, all recognisable actors but playing such multi-layered characters; for a start, I never knew Keith Allen was such an accomplished actor, he is so authentic in his role.

Willieholloughby · 06/06/2023 19:23

The channel 5 one at 9pm (2nd episode tonight) seems promising. Might be worth watching on demand. For Her Sins.

CallieQ · 07/06/2023 13:28

Started the Night Agent last night on Netflix... watched 3 eps so gripping!

Really enjoyed Malpractice although the ending could have been better (won't spoil it!).
