Any main channel, Netflix or Prime please?

I'm thinking of the sort of thing that is usually 3 to 4 parts and shown over consecutive nights.Channel 5 do a lot of these things - usually set in super smart houses the character couldn't afford. Sometimes they are longer but normally less than 5 episodes

i've seen lots but am sure there must be ones I haven't seen.

Stuff like these (which I have seen as samples):

Finding Alice (ITV husband falls down bannisterless stairs of dream home he designed) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11127412/

The Catch (Ch 5) (seemingly perfect new bf of daughter freaks out her fisherman father) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11127412/

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (Netflix) woman believes she sees murder in house opposite, parody thriller https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13315324/

The Stranger (Netflix, Harlan Coben) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stranger_(British_TV_series)

Finding Alice (TV Series 2021) - IMDb

Finding Alice: Created by Roger Goldby, Simon Nye, Keeley Hawes. With Keeley Hawes, Isabella Pappas, Nigel Havers, Kenneth Cranham. Alice's husband of 20 years, Harry, falls down the stairs and dies soon after the couple move into the dream home he des...

Apologise it's 8 episodes! Good though !

XelaM · 09/05/2023 06:55

HAPPY VALLEY if you haven't seen it (BBC iplayer). It's superb.

@DerekFaker The Pact!

daffodilandtulip · 09/05/2023 07:03

I've just found Above Suspicion on ITV. It's 4 seasons but only 2 eps each.

Also very good is STRIKE on ITVX

XelaM · 12/05/2023 12:54

Another absolutely brilliant short crime drama series is The Victim. It's SO GOOD!!! Very gripping and brilliantly acted

Goldenboysmum · 12/05/2023 13:06

Human Trafficking on stv player (although might be on your area player if that makes sense)

2 episodes, I think they were an hour and half each, but so good!

Stars Robert Carlyle, he plays such a good bad guy!

ellebelli · 12/05/2023 13:08

The one set in Australia with Charlie Brooks, lie with me, that fits your bill to a tee.
I will be adding most of these to my watch list
I tried watching the last thing he told me but gave up(Jennifer gardeners acting is crap)

ellebelli · 12/05/2023 13:10

Oh and riptide
(Sorry if these are not on netflix and prime-i have so many subscriptions I can't remember what was on which)

Thank you to everyone repeatedly suggesting Strike but I'm really not interested in it as I posted above!

@Oblomov23 I'm upset because I started watching Citadel thinking it was a few parts all in one go jobbie - but I got to the end of E3 and realised they are realeasing episodes now weekly!!! I think E4 is today but I wouldn't have started it if I'd known! I wanted some instant binge hits.

I may be missing something but I really didn't like Obsession . A poster said it was unpredictable? How? It was very predictable and Anna and Jay were completely unbelievable as a couple. I also didn't like the actress playing Anna. It was just predictable garbage in my virw. But clearly I'm in the minority.

The Innocent on Netflix is great. A Spanish Harlen Coben adaptation. Dirty John is fantastic-based on a true case but great drama and very well acted. There was a Dirty John 2 but first was better. I have a rubbish memory but have enjoyed a few shows on Walter Presents. The Europeans have Psych thriller limited series down to a T. There was one on IPlayer about a couple using a young girl as a surrogate which was excellent-had the guy in from Line Of Duty and features an amazing house. How come all this type of thriller has teachers living in investment banker houses?

ABoyCalledBasil · 12/05/2023 18:11

a couple using a young girl as a surrogate which was excellent-had the guy in from Line Of Duty and features an amazing house.

I liked that one - it was called The Nest (BBC).

You can rent that house that was amazing for its water views.

I fantasise about living somewhere like that in the day time but ... I don't think I'd cope with it at night. The thought of all that glass lit up inside with the dark water outside, god knows how many serial killers watching you nicely illuminated for days before breaking in....
plus think of the window cleaning!!!

Inside the sleek loch-side home stealing the show in BBC's The Nest

The house, called Cape Cove, is a luxurious holiday let on the Scottish west coast.

I started watching Blue Lights on the back of recommendations in this thread and I really really like it! I thought I wouldn't like a police drama after Happy Valley as it can't be as good, but I'm an episode in and I love it so far

UnbeatenMum · 12/05/2023 18:53

The Gold on BBC iPlayer was really good, although not psychological.

Rosecoffeecup · 12/05/2023 19:32

Apple Tree Yard - was on BBC a few years ago, I think its on either Prime or Britbox now

Rosecoffeecup · 12/05/2023 19:47

Anatomy of a Scandal (netflix)
Deceit (netflix)
Safe House (netflix)
Gold digger (brit box)
Hollington Drive (ITVX/britbox)
Intruder (channel 5/britbox)
The Suspect (itvx/britbox)
Too Close (itvx/britbox)

SheilaFentiman · 12/05/2023 20:55

Thanks for collating them recommendations, OP.

Wanted to add “A Spy Among Friends” - 6 episodes, on itvX - based on the true story of the defection of Kim Philby.

SheilaFentiman · 12/05/2023 20:56

I was also going to add The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix but it’s 10 episodes. Good, though.

pigalow27 · 12/05/2023 21:53

Also would add Showtrial on i player. Loved Goldigger when I saw it. Didn't know it was now available on Britbox.

QueenCoconut · 12/05/2023 22:14

Blackbird on Apple TV - superb …and a real story

@iwantavuvezela

yes I saw that but I wasn't keen as it seemed a bit too likely to be Beverly Allitt depressing and sort of documentary unpleasant.

I'd also watched the first series of The Servant on Apple TV (mini-spoiler coming up (but early on this is revealed): couple with deceased child are using a therapy doll for the wife as therapy and hire a nanny) and the look of it was giving me similar vibes.

Is it depressing as opposed to interesting thriller?
