Hi, I've been watching some old episodes this week before the new series starts tomorrow night. What's everyone's favourites? I know there's so many. I watched Sardines last night I love that one think it's so funny and clever poor Stinky John. And Wuthering Heist, really clever writing and twists. I think the only one I wasn't pushed on was the Devil of Christmas.

I re-watched Wuthering Heist yesterday , it still went over my head but I hard more , the jokes and the interaction of the characters . Original watching I was trying to work out if it was Reece or Steve playing Arlo but its neither Grin

Then onto Simon Says , but I nodded off and missed it ( I was knackered , it was late )

Yeah I have to say it's probably up there with my favourite, more for the fast dialogue and all the double meanings and the flea bagging to camera 😁 that's interesting I thought it was Steve playing Arlo.

I went to watch Simon Says last night and then skipped it for Loves Great Adventure.

Sounds like Wuthering Heist may be too complicated for me. I often get DH to explain the twist at the end as I am easily confused!

The one with the professor and the cryptic words is fab! I also like the one on the sleeper train and my favourite the author with the obsessed fan 👌 sorry I don’t know the titles

The sleeper train is high on my list of favourites

thenightsky · 30/04/2023 17:58

The sleeper train was the first one I ever saw..

Does anyone else listen to the Inside Inside No 9 podcast on BBC Sounds? I like hearing them talk about how they wrote and filmed each episode.

Does the Podcast start with series 5?
That's the earliest series of 'Inside, Inside No 9' I can find on BBC Sounds.
It's prompted me to go back and start a rewatch of season 5 and I agree with PP that 'Misdirection' is excellent. 'Loves Great Adventure' tightly plotted and well acted and 'Death Be Not Proud' horrific and hilarious in equal measure.

From other series I enjoyed Tom & Gerri, Cold Comfort, One Step Removed and so many others.

thenightsky · 30/04/2023 18:08

Series 5 of the podcast is the earliest I could find too. I fell asleep listening to it last night.

InMySpareTime · 30/04/2023 18:10

@DesdamonasHandkerchief "inside inside no 9" only started a few seasons ago so season 5 seems about right, although I think there were some "classic no 9" episodes too.

Workerbeep · 30/04/2023 18:22

Is there an inside inside no 9 for the latest episode I couldn’t find in on bbc sounds?

AwfulTed · 30/04/2023 18:31

The 12 Days of Christine - absolutely devastating every time

InMySpareTime · 30/04/2023 18:32

I can't either, the last one is currently the bones of st Nicholas. I'll keep an ear out though.

Workerbeep · 30/04/2023 18:51

I couldn’t possibly decide on my favourite episode so many brilliant ones.

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 30/04/2023 19:13

Haven't RYFT but I loved the Christmas last year. Really creepy and I couldn't stop thinking about it for a few days!

MaudGone · 30/04/2023 23:05

The podcast only started on Series 5 as prior to that, they did DVD commentaries. They swapped to a podcast when people stopped buying DVDs so much. Reece said on twitter there will be no more podcasts...

MxEWeatherwax · 30/04/2023 23:08

I’m so sad about the Podcast. I would watch, then listen to Podcast. Then watch it again.

3kidsaremorethanenough · 01/05/2023 20:28

Just watched Once removed. It's absolutely brilliant. Love it when they're clever like that.

12 days of Christine is my favourite.

Totally agree

RockaLock · 01/05/2023 20:40

Thank you all for this thread! I hadn't seen the programme before, and so decided to watch from the beginning, due to your rave reviews.

I had for some reason thought it was a political comedy, so was initially a bit confused by Sardines Grin but I'm a few episodes in now and am really enjoying it!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/05/2023 20:40

Last night I watched sme of the episodes I normally skip past -

Last Night of the Proms -
Merrily Merrily Merrily
Diddle Diddle Dumpling
Hurry Up and Wait

Didn't like any of these on first viewing but then you watch again and you see so much .

Finished with an old favourite ,Bernie Clifton's dressing room for good measure to end on a high note Grin

3kidsaremorethanenough · 01/05/2023 21:34

Misdirection and Last Gasp watched. DH is starting to worry 😁
I am really enjoying this. They are (most of them) so rewatchable.

I got the impression they weren’t that keen on doing the podcast in the first place.
Not unusual for Mr shearsmith to be brutally honest, but I do love that about him.

pinkchampagne1 · 02/05/2023 07:23

What did you think of Last Gasp? I didn’t really enjoy that one. Thought it was one of the weaker ones I have watched.

My least favourite one as well.

Not overly keen to be honest. It could have been better, liked that obviously the little girl had more depth to her than the adults. It was a bit boring too. I have noticed that I think I like those that have Reece Shersmith as the lead....although Steve Pembrokeshire was really good in loves great adventure...

I love the fact that RC is brutally honest and will say anything on the podcast or interviews

although Steve Pembrokeshire was really good in loves great adventure ...

Or Pemberton even Grin

He was in Happy Valley series 1 and Whitechapel as a creepy little Ripperologist ( not as creepy as David Sowerbutts though)

He was brilliant on The Celebrity Chase and amassed a huge sum for the team.

(DH is aware that Steve Pemberton is my next husband , I don't know if Mrs Pemberton has got the email about this though !)

🤣 darn that auto text! He was excellent in Happy Valley1 and Whitechapel, he was really good in that. I just think I'm more a Reece fan. If he's ever looking for a Mrs Shersmith No 2 😁😁
