Hi, I've been watching some old episodes this week before the new series starts tomorrow night. What's everyone's favourites? I know there's so many. I watched Sardines last night I love that one think it's so funny and clever poor Stinky John. And Wuthering Heist, really clever writing and twists. I think the only one I wasn't pushed on was the Devil of Christmas.

They’re all utterly brilliant but A Quiet Night In is standout and I’d go as far as to say The Twelve Days Of Christine is not only the best Inside No.9, but one of the best pieces of television ever made.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/04/2023 21:50

You cannot chose one favourite Shock

I love 12 Days of Christine , there's not a wasted word and the xasting are excellent

But ... Loves Great Adventure with the family at Christmas and the drug addict son is my close second .

Agree with this. I think it's the piece of TV that has stayed with me the longest, and continues to do so - absolutely outstanding

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/04/2023 22:56

Anyone watched tonights?

MrsBobBlackadder · 27/04/2023 23:06

Yes! I thought the ending was clever. Not one of the best though

mrsnjw · 28/04/2023 13:50

I've just watched last night at the proms. Absolutely didn't get the end. Did he come back like the resurrection??
Last nights was a bit grim. I turned away during the foot bit. I'm from the east end so found the slang funny. I had forgotten how good Anita Dobson is.

LlynTegid · 28/04/2023 14:24

I've enjoyed those I have seen, no particular favourite. Like to see that whilst it has the spirit of the League of Gentlemen, they have moved on and not flogged LOG to death.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2023 15:48

We should have an "Inside No 9 , Please Explain" thread Grin

I didn't like most of Series 6 , I did re watch but couldn't figure the Heist or the Proms one .
Loved the LipSrvice one though

LuckyMoonstone · 28/04/2023 16:18

Dead Line is still my all time favourite simply because watching unfold on live tv was absolutely thrilling (and I’m a horror junkie).
But also- cold comfort, 12 days of Christine, devil of Christmas, diddle diddle dumpling, to have and to hold, the steakout, how do you plead, Tom & Gerri, the harrowing, riddle of the sphinx, hurry up and wait . I love them all but those are my faves.
I also really enjoyed the last Christmas special, the spooky vibe was right up my street.

LostMyUserName · 28/04/2023 16:29

I found Sardines quite upsetting. It seems I have a delicate nature.

I can’t remember a specific favourite but overall I think it is superb television.

Is 12 days of Christine where the woman is handcuffed to the bed?

I don’t like horror at all, I watched lots as a young child and I think that has affected me so I tend to choose the episodes I watch carefully.

Reading this thread has reminded me of how much I enjoy the writing and I’m going to treat myself to watching some this weekend.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2023 16:45

No thats The Devil of Christmas , about Krampus (with the clever twist at the end that I had no bloody clue about until it was pointed out to me)

12 Days is the one with Sheridan Smith and it progresses but each month is a year on , so by the end it's twelve years elapsed .

If you didn't like Sardines then don't watch Wise Owl .

REP22 · 28/04/2023 17:11

Love's Great Adventure (the number 9 being the door of an advent calendar) was another one that I particularly enjoyed. Excellent story, well put together.

RausageSoul · 28/04/2023 17:12

Bernie Clifton's dressing room. Made me sob

InMySpareTime · 28/04/2023 17:31

How has nobody said Tom & Gerri yet?
"It's just Migg, he's not real" 😱

mrsnjw · 28/04/2023 19:00

I think they are such an eclectic mix. Some stronger than others, yes. I have disliked some that others have loved. I think that there is something for everyone. I have never guessed the ending for any of them. I have always been oohhhhh in the last few minutes. Very clever!!

LuckyMoonstone · 28/04/2023 19:19

@InMySpareTime I did!!

Thanks 70s

I really like Sheridan Smith so I’ll watch that episode this weekend and give Wise Owl a wide birth.

InMySpareTime · 28/04/2023 22:51

Does anyone else listen to the Inside Inside No 9 podcast on BBC Sounds? I like hearing them talk about how they wrote and filmed each episode.

walktrotandcanter · 28/04/2023 22:52

The one last night was weak. Shame.

Agree. Hope the series picks up (I didn't like the first-in-the-series Christmas episode either)

I'm presuming they've peaked.

3kidsaremorethanenough · 28/04/2023 23:30

Well, the last few days, I've rewatched The Referee's a w**ker, loved it. Mr.King which I don't recall ever seeing (didn't like it, found it boring) and Quiet Night In (excellent think it's my favourite at the mo) Merrily Merrily( funny and so sad with the fireworks near the end) La Couchette, enjoyed that one a lot. And Death be not proud, actually quiet sad too. Although the dancing scene is funny.

I am looking forward to spending the weekend rewatching and watching the new one (hopes are low that it'ss as good as some of the older ones)

And yes, the podcast....inside inside No.9, I love it. They are so funny to listen to and so interesting.

Anyone else feel a bit awkward admitting they like the show...I know a lot of people where I work think it's just a weird and silly so I tend to not speak about it (probably a very inside no.9 quality!!) 😁

Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room
One Step Removed (where the story's told backwards)
Diddle Diddle Dumpling

Is one step removed the house sale one (don"t want to spoil it for anyone!) If so, that one it brilliant.

The shoe one is so poignant

And zanzibar and A quiet night in are masterclasses

The jenna Coleman one is unexpectedly hilarious.

Too many to mention!

MrsBobBlackadder · 28/04/2023 23:32

@walktrotandcanter I fear you might be right...

3kidsaremorethanenough · 28/04/2023 23:33

Wish Mark Gatiss was in more of them, too. I do miss the LOG cast. Enjoyed his Christmas ghost story too.
