New 5 part medical drama

Dr Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar) is a smart, battle-hardened doctor, but we meet her on a nightmare shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

Despite the support of her medical supervisor, Dr Leo Harris (James Purefoy), Edith’s grieving father (Brian Bovell), demands an inquiry into Lucinda’s actions on the fateful night.

Leading the medical investigation are Dr Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and Lucinda’s former colleague, Dr George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé). While George feels this was an unavoidable tragedy, Norma is suspicious of Lucinda’s behaviour and decisions in the lead up to the patient’s death.

As the pressure of the investigation intensifies, Lucinda’s relationship with husband Tom (Lorne MacFadyen) starts to fracture, and her confident professional exterior begins to crack. Is Lucinda hiding something?

Episode 1
Dr Lucinda Edwards is a smart, experienced A&E doctor, in the midst of a nightmare shift. She has a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient who both need a bed in resus, but there’s only room for one of them.

When one of the patients dies, Lucinda realises her troubles have only just begun.
Dr Norma Callahan and Dr George Adjei are investigators from the Medical Investigation Unit, tasked with assessing whether Lucinda is fit to practise medicine.

Feeling the pressure of their close scrutiny, Lucinda is desperate to prove that she can be a competent doctor.

all will be on ITVX - rolls eyes - so any bingers - shush !!!

I’m quite enjoying this. It’s making me very glad that I don’t work in A&E, feel sorry for the staff.

Tracker1234 · 23/04/2023 22:01

Blimey. That car came from nowhere!

CrapBucket · 23/04/2023 22:03

Fucking hell! Ok I’m a lot less team Lucinda now

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2023 22:04

Poor ' Rose ' !
He might survive.

Blimey. That car came from nowhere!

Indeed OTT

Prescottdanni123 · 23/04/2023 22:05

Realistically, security cameras would have picked that up but according to British TV, 90% of the countries security cameras are broken at any one time

sashagabadon · 23/04/2023 22:06

Enjoyed it. I can see the line of duty similarities. Shocks, lots of suspicious characters, evidence based interviews, peering over balconies, chaotic situations, general dodgy behaviour.

Catspyjamas17 · 23/04/2023 22:08

It doesn't work like Line of Duty does, for me. Harassed, under-resourced A&E doctors are not corrupt cops in the pay of an OCG. I don't want someone splitting hairs over whether someone took a call at 9pm or 9.05 and whether they gave clear instructions to a junior. So what, frankly when you were almost shot dead.

Poor ' Rose ' !
He might survive.

He might be in a coma and then Lucinda might need to pull the plug on him…

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2023 22:11

Why didn't the MIU ring the mobile phone on her records ? ( Rose)
Are they not allowed to ?

Blossomtoes · 23/04/2023 22:13

Wow. That started with a bang. I wonder why MIU boss lady’s got it in for Lucinda.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2023 22:14

Boss lady was horrible.

lazymum99 · 23/04/2023 22:31

I don’t think she has got it in for her. I think she is just doing her job

Tracker1234 · 23/04/2023 22:35

Onto Eposide 2.. it’s getting good.

Slimjimtobe · 23/04/2023 22:36

Oh it’s very very good
I know it’s not real but I’m sure it’s just so tough anyway
l don’t how people work in a&e

Xmasbaby11 · 23/04/2023 22:42

I really liked it. Didn’t warm to Lucinda much but thought she seemed a typical doctor under pressure in A and E. It did feel similar to Maternal so not v original in that way, though this story is more intense as it’s the main focus.

Rummikub · 23/04/2023 22:55

It was too tense for me.

Agree with pp that I feel differently about OCG than Harassed doctors.

Im curious as to what the right decision should’ve been regarding moving patients.

And I question the matron saying to prioritise the young lad (gun shot?) over the addict. Is that relevant?

summersoonsurely · 23/04/2023 23:01

Need to watch again ( lots of distractions) but seems quite unrealistic to me

(Retired senior nhs familiar with complaint investigation)

Clawdy · 23/04/2023 23:21

A bit complicated and confusing in places, but I'll give the second episode a try next week. Not as gripping as I hoped.

LeafyLaney · 23/04/2023 23:32

The matron is annoying and makes situations worse, she needs to pipe down.

Rosula · 23/04/2023 23:41

I wonder if it's a situation where they have to have permission, but it's going to look awfully incriminating if the doctor being investigated or the caller won't give permission?

But I'm not sure I'm interested enough to stick with this. It's looking like Lucinda has got herself into some sort of stupid situation through something like addiction and it's all going to spiral depressingly downwards.

Don't worry it's nothing like that!!
20 years I've never seen paramedics run with a patient on a trolley, there's always at least a dozen doctors on shift, if not more, not just one senior & a couple of juniors. A màtron would never boss a doctor about only nurses🙄and a few jugs of water or chairs have been thrown but so far no gun weilding bad guys in the waiting room😂I'll still watch next week's episode though!

AnyFucker · 24/04/2023 05:43

Totally unrealistic but gripping nonetheless

ShakeYourFeathers · 24/04/2023 07:10

I really enjoyed it. Just wish it wasn't in a Sunday , I'd like something slightly less intense to wind down to in a Sunday evening before the start of the working week. But will be watching next week

Rhondaa · 24/04/2023 07:28

What a load of shite. Where did the gunman vanish too, why didn't the nurse assisting the junior Dr tell her to give more naloxone most A&E nurses would know this, why on earth would Lucinda make the junior Dr do a lumbar puncture, a complex procedure, on a child whilst she was already being investigated for bad decisions.

How on earth did the miu have access to her phone records, surely that would be a police matter.

I mean I know we have to suspend belief a bit but they have to give us a teeny bit of credibility to go on. Running away from an accident would not have been a good decision either but I'm guessing she is just a disaster and it'll all catch up with her.
