New 5 part medical drama

Dr Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar) is a smart, battle-hardened doctor, but we meet her on a nightmare shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

Despite the support of her medical supervisor, Dr Leo Harris (James Purefoy), Edith’s grieving father (Brian Bovell), demands an inquiry into Lucinda’s actions on the fateful night.

Leading the medical investigation are Dr Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and Lucinda’s former colleague, Dr George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé). While George feels this was an unavoidable tragedy, Norma is suspicious of Lucinda’s behaviour and decisions in the lead up to the patient’s death.

As the pressure of the investigation intensifies, Lucinda’s relationship with husband Tom (Lorne MacFadyen) starts to fracture, and her confident professional exterior begins to crack. Is Lucinda hiding something?

Episode 1
Dr Lucinda Edwards is a smart, experienced A&E doctor, in the midst of a nightmare shift. She has a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient who both need a bed in resus, but there’s only room for one of them.

When one of the patients dies, Lucinda realises her troubles have only just begun.
Dr Norma Callahan and Dr George Adjei are investigators from the Medical Investigation Unit, tasked with assessing whether Lucinda is fit to practise medicine.

Feeling the pressure of their close scrutiny, Lucinda is desperate to prove that she can be a competent doctor.

all will be on ITVX - rolls eyes - so any bingers - shush !!!

Ahhhh ...my recording cut off near the end (I think?)

She has just come out of dodgy pharmacists office and Rob is crashing ?

What happened next pretty please 😊!

burnoutbabe · 15/05/2023 19:03

She got into car and took the pills she got from dodgy chemist

The end!!

bizzey · 15/05/2023 19:26

😂😂! AHH thank you !

Is next week the last one ?

I have to say ....I am more persevering rather than gripped by it !
She blames everyone but herself .

bizzey · 15/05/2023 19:29

Anyone else getting suspicious vibes from Dr Harris (?) .
Her boss ,who was mildly congratulating the young doctor on the audit .

Yes! The audit - red herring or not? And he backs her just too much. Also, where does he disappear to? He's always having to be bleeped or phoned to get him into A&E. Mmmmm.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/05/2023 21:14

Not sure how this will pan out next week

As someone said

She is taking drugs and stealing them

She nearly got her daughter killed lies to hubby and swears on her dd life is she isnt a druggie

Rose is prob going to die so she's a killer

Maybe she is setting up JS and gathering evidence thinonb popping pills isnt helping her

Eva needs to be done

Obv the handwriting didn't match so makinf the man think maybe she shelling the truth

I didn't get any dodgy vibes from Dr Harris

xoomer · 19/05/2023 06:55

Whatever happens like someone has said.

She's lied in work
Stolen medication
Falsified records
Pushed Rose
Lied to her husband
Put her daughter in danger
Isn't stable
Is an addict

How can things possible do a 180 for her.

martinisforeveryone · 21/05/2023 17:05

It's the final one tonight and I for one am thinking thank goodness. Apparently things start to fall in place for Lucinda, but she has to work out who's behind what she's discovered. Am sure that won't be a potential spoiler for anyone.

The 9pm slot on ITV next week is episode 5/6 season 22 of Midsomer Murders.

Greyador · 21/05/2023 21:03

I'm in and ready to watch! I can't see how it will end now...

Greyador · 21/05/2023 21:08

I think the woman investigator knows alot more and is in on it somehow

daffodilandtulip · 21/05/2023 21:43

Well that was all very eventful! Looks like they're managing to tie it all up very nicely.

burnoutbabe · 21/05/2023 22:09

All worked out in the end (and as well as expected for Lucinda)

Course she got away with pushing man into cars way, not exactly a total accident (potentially unlawful act manslaughter- where you don't intend death but you have committed a crime (battery here as she pushed) and it causes death.

burnoutbabe · 21/05/2023 22:09

Though not sure why the chemist trusted the overdose would kill her. That was just stupid!

Rummikub · 21/05/2023 22:10

So who was above Jubair?

Rummikub · 21/05/2023 22:34

Think he gave her less on purpose?

Clawdy · 21/05/2023 22:56

Rummikub hadn't thought of that, yes, think you are right, he didn't want her to die.

It got a bit confusing at the end. And the nice young lad ( who was in Coronation Street a few weeks ago!) stabbed Jubair!

MadCatLady27 · 21/05/2023 23:12

Just binge watched it all today - loved it and found it really gripping

bizzey · 22/05/2023 00:06

OMG !!
I was right about Dr Leo Harris 😲😲!!🤣!

I never get any anything like this right usually !

Didn't understand the parmisists stabbing

Was it revenge or were they involved somehow?

I might test my sleuthing skills out next week with midsommers .
I have never watched an episode of that .!

bizzey · 22/05/2023 00:07

Pharmacy man .

Rummikub · 22/05/2023 00:35

Clawdy- it only I cured you me as he was taking his time preparing.

I think the van thugs were sent by the next level up to clean up. But I don’t know if that would be Leo Harris -he wouldn’t have had time to make the call. So someone higher up the chain?

Rummikub · 22/05/2023 02:10

“It only occurred to me...”

martinisforeveryone · 22/05/2023 09:46

I watched to the end and it was one of those where it felt like the writers couldn’t be bothered and had already moved on to something else. It was like ‘we’ve wrapped that bit up, so job done’ but I’m left hanging a bit.

Maybe they’re angling for another series, but it doesn’t feel warranted to me.

girlfriend44 · 22/05/2023 13:17

Thats four hours wasted not to get back.

Just constant drug references, everybody continually stressed, no happiness, graphic stabbing. Entertaining not.

Greyador · 22/05/2023 13:37

On another note, I didn't realise lucinda (niamh) and Tom (lorcan) are a couple in real life?
