New 5 part medical drama

Dr Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar) is a smart, battle-hardened doctor, but we meet her on a nightmare shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

Despite the support of her medical supervisor, Dr Leo Harris (James Purefoy), Edith’s grieving father (Brian Bovell), demands an inquiry into Lucinda’s actions on the fateful night.

Leading the medical investigation are Dr Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and Lucinda’s former colleague, Dr George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé). While George feels this was an unavoidable tragedy, Norma is suspicious of Lucinda’s behaviour and decisions in the lead up to the patient’s death.

As the pressure of the investigation intensifies, Lucinda’s relationship with husband Tom (Lorne MacFadyen) starts to fracture, and her confident professional exterior begins to crack. Is Lucinda hiding something?

Episode 1
Dr Lucinda Edwards is a smart, experienced A&E doctor, in the midst of a nightmare shift. She has a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient who both need a bed in resus, but there’s only room for one of them.

When one of the patients dies, Lucinda realises her troubles have only just begun.
Dr Norma Callahan and Dr George Adjei are investigators from the Medical Investigation Unit, tasked with assessing whether Lucinda is fit to practise medicine.

Feeling the pressure of their close scrutiny, Lucinda is desperate to prove that she can be a competent doctor.

all will be on ITVX - rolls eyes - so any bingers - shush !!!

Only got round to watching this last night, really enjoyed it.

The lead actress is great isn’t she. Lots of twists to come, I suspect. And bloody hell that car made me jump, near spilled my tea.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 25/04/2023 10:13

Oh and I’m also not particularly bothered that it may be unrealistic. It’s not a documentary, I just want to be entertained.

I can absolutely see how those in the field may be aggrieved, but I’ve always assumed tv dramas come with a heavy dose of artistic license.

Yes I said earlier it doesn't have to be like a documentary but it needs to be believable ish imo and the whole miu acting like they're in an episide of LOD having access to phone records is ridiculous. The police would do that if it got to that stage.
It's a shame as the cast is very good but the story is weak and shite imo. That said I will carry on watching it but think its more to se how bad can it get rather than entertainment.

martinisforeveryone · 25/04/2023 10:41

I can’t remember, did they ask Lucinda for permission to look through her phone records, in a kind of if you don’t say yes it’ll count against you way? Or have I dreamt that?

She signed something at one point which was more or less ‘to give permission to access records’ - that’s good enough for me, it’s entertainment!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/04/2023 15:07

They got phone records really quickly

Thank you for the heads up.

Also for the tip about The Twelve, daffs

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/04/2023 22:03

I already hate the incompetent b1tch junior doctor.

There will be tears before bedtime. . .

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/04/2023 22:10

Mossstitch · 24/04/2023 00:15

Don't worry it's nothing like that!!
20 years I've never seen paramedics run with a patient on a trolley, there's always at least a dozen doctors on shift, if not more, not just one senior & a couple of juniors. A màtron would never boss a doctor about only nurses🙄and a few jugs of water or chairs have been thrown but so far no gun weilding bad guys in the waiting room😂I'll still watch next week's episode though!

I was in A&E a few weeks ago because a couple of myvertebrae decided to pop out and trap a nerve (IT WAS AGONY!)

4 hour wait extending to 6 for no apparent reason - nothing seemed to be happening. It wasn't even like the pre-covid days when you used to get bumped down the queue because someone had come in having cut half their foot off with a lawnmower, or been glassed at checking out time (longest I ever waited then was 3 hours). It was all just apparently OK people, and a couple like me (whimpering with self-pity and pain) and a very relaxed atmosphere. Somebody even went and got some chicken nuggets.

Emotionalsupportviper · 27/04/2023 22:10

*Extending to 8, not 6.

EIGHT!!!

overfeckinstimulated · 27/04/2023 23:24

'A màtron would never boss a doctor about only nurses🙄'

You've not met our matron! Even the consultants quake 🤣🤣 and our Junior doctors definitely keep the nurses on side for an easy life!

I've been trying without success to get into this, I was hoping it'd be similar to Bodies on Netflix, which was brilliant!
Blue lights was also fantastic. But I'm just a bit disappointed with this one.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2023 10:48

Bodies was amazing. I saw it when in originally then rewatched maybe a year ago when a lot older

It's almost 20yrs old

I think it’s diazepam.

If it’s a work phone, they would have access to the bills the same as you do on your own phone.

And agree that some matrons are SCARY!

purpleme12 · 28/04/2023 13:46

It crossed my mind if it might be diazepam.

butterpuffed · 30/04/2023 17:38

Very OTT but very gripping .

Not sure if her tablets are prescribed or if she's addicted . Probably the latter as they've not been mentioned by anyone , we've only seen her taking them.

That junior Dr. seemed to have it in for her before anything went wrong , she was watching her right from the beginning .

Rummikub · 30/04/2023 21:41

What’s she up to??

daffodilandtulip · 30/04/2023 22:04

Who was that voicemail?
