New 5 part medical drama

Dr Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar) is a smart, battle-hardened doctor, but we meet her on a nightmare shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

Despite the support of her medical supervisor, Dr Leo Harris (James Purefoy), Edith’s grieving father (Brian Bovell), demands an inquiry into Lucinda’s actions on the fateful night.

Leading the medical investigation are Dr Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and Lucinda’s former colleague, Dr George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé). While George feels this was an unavoidable tragedy, Norma is suspicious of Lucinda’s behaviour and decisions in the lead up to the patient’s death.

As the pressure of the investigation intensifies, Lucinda’s relationship with husband Tom (Lorne MacFadyen) starts to fracture, and her confident professional exterior begins to crack. Is Lucinda hiding something?

Episode 1
Dr Lucinda Edwards is a smart, experienced A&E doctor, in the midst of a nightmare shift. She has a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient who both need a bed in resus, but there’s only room for one of them.

When one of the patients dies, Lucinda realises her troubles have only just begun.
Dr Norma Callahan and Dr George Adjei are investigators from the Medical Investigation Unit, tasked with assessing whether Lucinda is fit to practise medicine.

Feeling the pressure of their close scrutiny, Lucinda is desperate to prove that she can be a competent doctor.

all will be on ITVX - rolls eyes - so any bingers - shush !!!

Didn't like the ending , Lucinda was definitely not a good person .

Catspyjamas17 · 22/05/2023 16:24

She's lied in work
Stolen medication
Falsified records
Pushed Rose
Lied to her husband
Put her daughter in danger
Isn't stable
Is an addict

Oh well summary execution then. Honestly, some people.

Oh well finally someone thought to get the police involved, better late than never!

I'm surprised they didn't actually ensure she was dead after they went to all that trouble to inject her when they were making it look like an OD.

bizzey · 22/05/2023 18:13

So do we presume the blond girl who got her to the house under false pretences called ambulance.

So many loose ends .

purpleme12 · 24/05/2023 23:03

Yes she called the ambulance.

That was a really really hard watch with them injecting her.

It was about the only episode where I was rooting for Lucinda though to be honest!

purpleme12 · 24/05/2023 23:03

Who was the person who stabbed Jubair?

bizzey · 24/05/2023 23:30

It was the boy who was stabbed in the 1st episode and was carried into the ED by the man .
I think he had a knife and all hell broke loose .

A real sliding doors moment ...
Lucinda left Edith with junior doctor to treat him .

( I think !!! Happy to be corrected 😅!)

purpleme12 · 24/05/2023 23:35

Oh ok I so didn't get that

burnoutbabe · 24/05/2023 23:39

But did he stab the chemist as he was working for a higher force?

Or because chemist man hurt Lucinda who nice to him in hospital?????

Clawdy · 25/05/2023 08:02

There was an older man in the car with the boy, so he was presumably told to do the stabbing, but he did look rather pleased to be the killer!

bizzey · 22/05/2023 00:06

OMG !!
I was right about Dr Leo Harris 😲😲!!🤣!

I never get any anything like this right usually !

Didn't understand the parmisists stabbing

Was it revenge or were they involved somehow?

I might test my sleuthing skills out next week with midsommers .
I have never watched an episode of that .!

The pharmacist was stabbed to stop him ratting on people "higher" up in the scheme - the gangsters involved.

The boy who stabbed the pharmacist was the lad whose life Lucinda had saved, when the over-dose girl died because she had been left to the care of Dr "Didn't-listen-properly".

purpleme12 · 24/05/2023 23:03

Who was the person who stabbed Jubair?

The boy Lucinda saved in the first episode.

Came full circle.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2023 20:41

Been away and couldn't watch e5

Then releised last night I hadn't seen e5 and was on my planner

I was rooting for Lucinda even After all she did

She did confess about rose and he said not to say anything

Glad eve confessed

Will she go to prison

Who will have her kids

I didn't reliese it was the boy whose life she saved stabbing J

Did he do it to help Lucinda or as part of the gang

Glad she is admitting she has an issue with drugs and will get the help

Yes blonde girl rang the ambulance

Ramya came into her own. She was cool calm and confident and saved Lucinda life. Glad she said thanks

Leo was a bad bad man

Well done to who called it

Plus camilla I think felt bad

She was somehow blackmailed into calling Lucinda to get her to that house

I think she didn't expect them to try and kill her

And as Lucinda saved her life she felt she had to save hers and call 999

If she was in a locked room as ambulance man said - then how did someone know she had overdosed

Therefore they must have worked out she was talking the truth and didn't as 999 was called for her seconds after it was done
