Sex and the City Mr Big

I watched this on and off years ago and am now watching it right through from the start. I used to root for Carrie and Big but Oh my, I think he's just awful. Vacuous, trading in his money and looks, never says anything interesting and nice, just snidey.
Is that the common view?
( I know I'm decades late to the party! )

He is dreadful. Carrie was certainly a pain in the arse but she didn't deserve someone like Big.

I liked Big. Much better than boring and controlling Aiden. And don't even get me started on Berger.....

They were both awful so I think they deserved each other. Aiden was awful too. I don't think the series has aged well at all.

I rewatched them all recently, and all I could think of was how awful and self-centred Carrie was. And I used to love her when I watched it first time round

He was awful but at least he was consistent and didn’t change his entire personality like Carrie did every single time she met a man.

The bit when carrie is in aidens cabin and sees a squirrel put me off the entire series and probably fueled a decade of gender stereotypes

Rewatched and thought Carrie kept pushing him, wanting too much when he wasn’t ready to commit - which was quite reasonable at that stage. All this nonsense ‘tell me I’m the one’ rubbish.

Berger so unbearable!

I used to work with someone who aspired to be like Carrie and modelled herself on her in every way, her name was Caroline, and she really was as awful and self centred as Carrie was at the age of nearly 30, if not worse.

She was made redundant after not doing much work and generally slacking off. She once rang up trying to get a sick day because of a hangover and was so bad doing that, that our office manager forced her to come into the office Grin and I had to sympathise with her over being made redundant!

I never saw the appeal of Big (or SATC come to that) but did like the episodes with Mikhail Baryshnikov, as I’d fancied him as a teenager (I still would!).

Big was not attractive in the slightest. Aiden was awful. Berger was horrible. I’m struggling to think of a nice bloke Carrie dated. She was awful as well. Really irritating and needy. Still love SATC though - totally iconic. Can’t wait for the next series of AJLT.

Yes, this. I hated Big as well. Carries taste in men is as bad as mine. Maybe that's intentional?

Harry, the fit guy in her building Miranda dated for a bit - the doctor? - that jazz guy with a double bass, Smith (although a bit ‘look at the Athena poster hunk with a kitten we grew in a lab’), that short guy who made Samantha laugh her tits off

The best men were Smith, Big, Aiden, Richard. The doctor Miranda dates in S6 was quite hot.

Burger awful, Harry nice but not fanciable (and immovable on the religion).

Steve was lovely but the wettest weekend ever "I held your head while you were sleeping" Shudder. Give me Big any day!

Of the one-offs it has got to be "Mr Too-Big". I'd take a whack at it!

I remember being told that squirrels carry rabies in the US and are not seen as cute but this was way back in the 90s

Oh, I cant wait for the new season to come out. Big was the best of a bad bunch. She was obbsessed with him but it made good telly. They should never have ended up with each other.
