Sex and the City Mr Big

I watched this on and off years ago and am now watching it right through from the start. I used to root for Carrie and Big but Oh my, I think he's just awful. Vacuous, trading in his money and looks, never says anything interesting and nice, just snidey.
Is that the common view?
( I know I'm decades late to the party! )

Love SATC. And loved the Dolly Alderton sentimental in the city podcast over lockdown.

Big was awful but I know I've been similarly obsessed with unsuitable men. She shouldn't have married him after he left her at the altar.

So I cracked and bought the box set off ebay 🙃 So fun seeing it right from the start when it was so different from what it became later.

I fancied both Big and Aidan . Both sexy in different ways.

The best friendship was between Samantha & Miranda, but it was always steamrolled by Carrie monologuing.

I didn't mind Aidan. The worst scenario was her inviting Big to his country cabin, after cheating on Aidan with him. Imagine if the roles were reversed!

Kind of liked Berger until he turned into a regular moody git. She was out of line with the scrunchie comment.. but I always crack up at the 'nice hat' comeback.

Big always looked a bit awkward.

I always thought Aiden was nice, certainly loads better than the others, but you're right, he was rather self righteous and controlling. What terrible taste in men Carrie has, but she was awful though in any case.
Steve - wet.
Smith and Harry definitely the only good ones! (Plus Smith was super hot). Richard I agree was a scum bag but he was also very sexy.

Oh I don't remember David Duchovny being in it! Always fancied him.

Berger was so promising at the start! He was the female Carrie - young, a writer, good looking, stylish, witty, very “New York”. Such a shame he turned out to be an insecure, whiny dick!

i friggin’ HATED Steve 😂 I think he has some of the worst lines in the show.

Guilt tripping Miranda with ”I held your head while you were sleeping” was pure ICK.

Smith and Harry definitely the best although Harry was super unattractive unfortunately. Steve wasn't so bad looking until he opened his mouth and talked like a 5 year old. But yeah, wet wet wet lol

Steve's stupid voice only got worse in AJLT.

I haven't got round to watching that yet. Is it worth it?

I love SATC but I think it looks awful. I think I watched a tiny bit and just cringed. The films were terrible as well, the tone is completely different and there was just something embarrassing about the whole thing (in fairness I think I didn’t even make it all the way through one but what I saw was enough).

Actually it got better as the season went along. I cant wait for the next one.

I’m always seeing clips on Insta shared by SJP etc and can’t say I’ve seen any improvement personally 😂 But glad others are enjoying it

I would have got on well with Aiden, dogs, countryside, good with wood...
The person I fancied most was the guy played by John Shea who had once broken Samantha's heart so she tried to do the same to him and it backfired.

It's not as good as the first time around @MermaidEyes and lots of people hated it but I actually liked it, once I got past Charlotte's weird face and the lack of Samantha. I've just done my second watch of the whole season in readiness for the new season!

I think people in their 20/30s without children are self absorbed? Until you have children your only priority is only you so you are generally pretty selfish.

I absolutely loved the show back in the day, I wanted to be Carrie, she always looked amazing, had a cool apartment and just waltzed around doing whatever she wanted to.

I always thought Big was a dick though and didn't get what she saw in him.

Miranda should have ended up with the fit Doctor.

Even Harry manipulated Charlotte into becoming Jewish because he wouldn't marry her if she wasn't due to a promise to his dead mother. She changed her entire person to be with him. He didnt change anything about himself to be with her. I used to see that as romantic, now it gives me the ick.

I had a boyfriend like Berger once. A complete emotional vampire with the dangerous ability to wreck a woman's self esteem.

God Big is such a twat. That's not even a relationship. To be fair to Chris Noth, it's a terribly written part, he makes zero sense as a person.

But oh that delicious sour tang in the dialogue from series 2. The thing the movies lost track of.
