It’s interesting that people are saying that Costello ran up a rent debt. Private housing in London, especially given her location, is extremely sought after. Say her rent was 2k a month and she’d been 2 weeks late with a payment, she could’ve been given the statutory 28 days notice. This would’ve totalled the almost 3k. These are not unreasonable amounts.
I also think the fact she was a sex worker, speaks volumes about her past. She was abused by her mother from a young age and therefore holds very little esteem regarding her own body.
I previously worked in a job where I was privy to some very low income, drug using families. I knew a girl who did anything requested on onlyfans. It’s not massively fictional that these households exist. Kids put to bed at night and the webcam goes on.
on the other hand I also knew single parents absolutely rocking parenting and working to fulfill their children’s needs.
As others have said though, it is extremely unlikely that ss wouldn’t have been involved. Especially given Costelllo’s drinking history, which would’ve been noticed at school.
i think in the next series, Lenny should die and whilst cleaning out the flat they find more ‘sunset’ pictures, like the one given to posh mum. They sell for a fortune, as the artist is dead and it turns out Costello is the beneficiary of his estate.
