Thought I'd make a new thread ready for tonight's episode...we've managed to fill the first one already!

I was surprised to find myself slightly agreeing with Sex Pest in the final convo shown tonight with Josh. Much as I would put the majority of the blame on her, he does come across as very awkward. And I thought tonight she spoke more sense and it was slightly about broader relationship matters.

Only a little glimpse, but a reminder it's not all one sided.

I think the thing is though that Josh doesn't fancy her and is really put off by her, but he is too polite to say that. So while she can scream and yell, he just keeps quiet because he is a very well mannered guy who is very very uncomfortable with someone hitting on him like that. It's very unsexy to be pestered by somebody whether they are male or female.

DahliaBlue · 21/03/2023 22:41

The relationship between Josh and Melissa looks very cold. I think she has a point. If there is no touching at this stage in the relationship, there's not much hope. It should come naturally. Even if they agree sex is off the table for a while, they could still cuddle. He is completely denying her needs. She was overboard with it at the start but surely they could agree to meet somewhere in the middle. They are just ending up insulting each other now.

Humanwoman · 21/03/2023 22:41

Nah Josh is a noisy eater and he drank straight out of the carton throw the whole man away.

Scenes with Harison in need those if you have been effected by the issues raised in this show call this helpline gumpf.

determinedtomakethiswork · 21/03/2023 22:42

And I imagine Josh is thinking that he wouldn't be able to introduce her to his children or to bring her to family events because all she talks about is sex.

determinedtomakethiswork · 21/03/2023 22:42

He isn't denying her needs, he just doesn't want to cuddle her! There is a difference.

Kefir · 21/03/2023 22:42

Josh clearly doesn't fancy Melissa at all.

Humanwoman · 21/03/2023 22:45

I think that's what she fears but if he just came out with it then she could move on

determinedtomakethiswork · 21/03/2023 22:45

The thing is for Josh is that when the cameraman is at the end of the bed, then Josh won't want to be physically affectionate to anyone. Who would be? I think he would see that as intrusive and disrespectful.

Humanwoman · 21/03/2023 22:51

But he knew what the show would be like with cameras and people around, the discussions about sex and intimacy. This is the 10th year its been on he can't really plead ignorance on that. If he isn't the sort of person to feel comfortable with that then he is on the wrong show

SummerSazz · 21/03/2023 22:54

I don't think Josh has any real problem (he's a wet blanket and his Disney obsession would put me off) BUT there would be nothing more off putting than someone demanding intimacy and berating you at every turn.
I wouldn't be anywhere near her either! I think with someone more genuine and with a desire to get to know him he would be fine with being close and intimate.
She said she was too dominant - yes, yes you are. It's bloody scary and threatening, not attractive and loving. I'd run a mile from that if it was a man being so aggressive about forcing sexual intimacy with me

I agree. She asked him what he regarded as intimacy other than sex and he didn't answer. To me this conversation for her wasn't abut sex but intimacy

Humanwoman · 21/03/2023 23:00

Everyone's different though Mel would evidently love a sex pest man who was after her every hour of the day. I don't think there is anything wrong with either of them or their sex drives I just think they are both completely incompatible and frustrated by the poor match. That's on the "experts"

Appalonia · 21/03/2023 23:06

Agree they are incompatible. They'd probably both be fine with someone who was more on their own wavelengths.

But I got the feeling that's the sort of guy, she's gone for in the past and it's never worked out.

Humanwoman · 21/03/2023 23:13

Her first marriage was sexless, but I think she's done a fair bit of shagging since then but no one has stuck

MelsMoneyTree · 21/03/2023 23:15

I promised myself I wouldn't watch MAFS Oz again but I've been sucked back in!

I loved the experts calling out Shannon and Harrison. I really wish they'd sent them home. They're awful and obviously going straight back to their exes.

To quote Jesse, Josh gives me the ick. He doesn't do intimacy or affection and so far he's getting away with being cold and distant because Melissa is so ott. But he showed a nasty streak in some of his sarcastic responses to her. And I'd love to know the better stuff he could be doing outside.

Duncan reminds me of Tom Ellis in Lucifer. I'd definitely write Stay on a postcard for him. 😄

He definitely has the ick.

mewkins · 21/03/2023 23:34

Normally intimacy week involves staring into each others eyes, not massaging prostates. No wonder quite a few of the guys looked uncomfortable..😬

lingmerth · 21/03/2023 23:41

I thought Josh showed considerable restraint while Melissa hurled abuse at him. The less reaction he gave the more she carried on.
Maybe he's now in a position where he doesn't want to cuddle or kiss her because he thinks she'll want to go all the way. They're doomed!

purplefacemask · 21/03/2023 21:57

What's with Brontë wearing her designer handbag in every shot around the flat?

I wondered that too. Not sure LV do product placement?!

To be fair, I think he was happy to be intimate, but it bothers him that that's all she wants to do/talk about and that she wasn't very private about it. I kind of get that, I certainly don't discuss my private life with other people (but then again I wouldn't go on mafs!).

I also think it's got to the point that every time she brings sex up he rolls his eyes because it does always seem to come back to that with her. But to be fair to her, she did try and strike up a conversation about intimacy that didn't include sex and he wouldn't answer. I think this pair are definitely doomed. They're just not compatible.

Harrison is a borderline sociopath. At least Jesse and Shannon recognised they'd been dicks and have been trying to do something about it, Harrison is wrong in so many ways.

Bluetrews25 · 22/03/2023 07:23

Oh dear. Proof that I'm low budget - read the LV don't do product placement comment before I saw the bag wearing bit and thought - 'LV? Luncheon Vouchers?' Also gives away age.....

BackOfTheMum5net · 22/03/2023 07:28

In the original Danish series they did get legally married, but in most countries of the world that’s not possible… you need to get your paperwork in early and meet each other at least several weeks beforehand with the registrar etc.

happinessischocolate · 22/03/2023 07:31

It was weird Mel didn't remember that she'd gone to bed before him, and then when she asked if he kissed her goodnight he said yes but that still wasn't enough. She complained that he wasn't affectionate and that there was a big gap in the bed between them but why couldn't she cuddle up to him. Or at least face him and put her hand on his chest. She could have said good morning handsome/sexy/honeybuns instead of just complaining about him not saying good morning beautiful 🙄 maybe he didn't think she looked beautiful 🤷‍♀️ bearing in mind she thinks she's such and strong assertive woman, surely initiating affection isn't that difficult.

Seriously? Anything I should imagine 😂 I would say spending time with his kids but just being in a room without her would be "better stuff"
