Yes, fake view versus real view 🙄

SwedishEdith · 21/03/2023 20:38

Don't like the Flintstones bed head and sliding door.

EachandEveryone · 21/03/2023 20:57

Love the hotel. Went to a wedding there its gorgeous.

viques · 21/03/2023 21:07

Good choices by Michelle. Joanne’s room was awful, she was so proud of that ridiculous lobster, and I wouldn’t be happy paying five star prices for a poster of a cow saying moo. And charlottes bed was ridiculous, not only turning it away from the view but also why did she put up a mural then cover over half of it with a velour headboard in day old corpse grey?

I bet the hotel staff had a happy half hour stripping and skipping both rooms.

longtompot · 21/03/2023 21:09

I think the right two went through straight away. Loved bandanna man's room and would love to stay there.

It is unfair they don't get to see more of their rooms before designing them. The one who went with the long hair, her view could have been the carpark for all she knew. That said, a blank wall opposite the bed was just depressing. I stayed at a b&b a while ago and they had the bed facing away from the view which was a shame. We did have a tv to look at and the tea and coffee area.

PuppyMonkey · 21/03/2023 21:14

That one with the nasty white bed canopy dodged a bullet there, wtf?

BishopRock · 21/03/2023 21:37

I knew Charlotte was a goner the moment she decided to stick with her brief no matter what, and ignore the amazing view. They never learn!

Tom was an arrogant prick this week dissing Jack's room and believing he wouldn't be on the (yellow) sofa.

Irish guy seems to rapidly be becoming a one trick white pony.

I thought the canopy spa room was a mess so was surprised she went through!

My favourites were Ry and Jack, though, totally hit the brief.

It was hideous! Couldn't believe the judges' comments about it!

BigMandysBookClub · 21/03/2023 22:12

I wasn't that keen on the white canopy room either. She seems to like that pale blue/beachy theme, the Irish guy loves white and the ginger guy loves green. In a way I respect the other guy on the couch for trying different colours, even if they were horrible together.

I didn't like Jo's room and a bit gutted for lovely hair lady as I think she has good ideas but has been unlucky with the space given to her. She would have had room to adapt if she was in the other rooms so her design worked.

Jack is a clear winner for me already. I bet he gets kicked out over a random shit week though, which would be annoying. I'm not seeing any other competition at this stage.

They all started pretty strong, but it wasn't a good week.

dillite · 21/03/2023 22:19

Tom was so arrogant tonight.

Matthew Williamson had 0 contribution tonight. He was just there, looking condescendingly at Michelle.

PriamFarrl · 21/03/2023 22:29

I didn’t like any of the rooms. I too thought the white canopy looked a mess. I’m finding all of the contestants annoying too.

JemimaTab · 21/03/2023 23:54

I thought the white canopy room was terrible (sorry, I’m not sure of the contestant’s name - it takes me a while to get all the names). It was a complete mess, it looked like a cluttered laundry room, with a big white sheet over the bed and clothes hanging on a rail. I’d have been seriously pissed off if I’d booked an expensive break in that lovely looking hotel and got put in that room. Obviously the judges were seeing something I didn’t.
I also thought Matthew clearly disagreed with Michelle on quite a few (maybe all) of the rooms - he was certainly side-eying her a bit. I wish he’d articulated why though. That could have been quite entertaining.

ScattyHattie · 22/03/2023 01:18

Shame they didn't use a hotel who may have benefited from the room renovations as I reckon these will be skipped as aren't 5* hotel quality.

Funny we have the Mr White room and last series was a Mr paint it black.

Loved the disagreements between judges this week. Although i also hated Toms check curtains and yellow sofa more than rest of room, glad to see his ego knocked with space on the sofa.

The only one I liked was Jack's & Monica's did fit well with gothic hotel but lacked finess.
Could tell early on that Charlotte's failure to rework her design to leave the bed would see her on the sofa. It didn't really need that odd dressing area and but headboard design was lovely.
When will contestants learn that a bed canopy is never a good idea, though at least it looked easy to replace with clean sheet unlike that lace monstrosity in past hotel room show.

I thought Joanna's was awful so not surprised she went and she needs to shop as all her handiwork was such terrible quality, god those lampshades😳need chuckin on the fire 🔥

Halsall · 22/03/2023 07:38

Oh, Joanne's was terrible. Not keen on several of the others, although Jack is definitely emerging as the star, and his room was very successful, I thought.

Doingmybest12 · 22/03/2023 07:52

I was surprised the judges liked the countryside murals when the real countryside view was outside. I couldn't see the point, especially on the wardrobe. The right person went this week .

Ducksinthebath · 22/03/2023 10:10

I've got the same gripe with this show as with Bake Off. What level of professionalism are they supposed to/allowed to have? Ry is clearly in the top half in terms of performance and he's just finished an interior design degree (I'm sure I read), so is it fair to judge him against an enthusiastic amateur? But what if they've done a few weekend courses? Or are a 'professional furniture painter'?

They do film it over a weekend or equivalent. Recently two commercial premises near me were done on a Sunday and Monday when they would have been closed anyway. One has kept everything, one has ditched virtually everything.

PurplePositivity · 22/03/2023 11:13

The right people went this week, love Jack he reminds me of someone and I can't think who.

When, I think it was Charlotte was saying right at the beginning 'yes the bed should face the view but it's not in my design' I knew that was it for her.

NeverApologiseNeverExplain · 22/03/2023 12:30

I thought it was a shame that Charlotte didn’t get the huge room that the Ibiza guy painted white. It would have been great for her concept, and he would have done much better with a smaller room. I am sure they get measurements beforehand so it’s no excuse, but a shame all the same.

Re levels of expertise, did you notice that Michelle made a point of saying that canopy woman was an amateur with a day job as a lawyer? That was definitely a signal to make allowances I think.

Jack’s room was fabulous, head and shoulders above any of the others.

PurplePositivity · 22/03/2023 13:02

I've remembered who Jack reminds me of, AJ the Strictly pro who left a few series ago.

MichaelAndEagle · 22/03/2023 13:17

The canopy room was awful. It was too themey for me.

He liked jacks room and yellow sofa and Michelle didn't !

LolaSmiles · 22/03/2023 15:01

I'm watching it now.

Why is there a golden lobster on a window ledge and a cow poster?

Some of these rooms are quite, unusual.

NailsForBreakfastTacksForSnacks · 22/03/2023 15:57

Had to laugh at the flowers in the table nice hair woman covered in resin.
Firstly, they weren't all dried so will rot inside the resin within 6 months, then let's add the fact that she didn't actually use enough of the resin to cover them meaning the tops were exposed. She didn't blow torch the top to remove the bubbles and then to top it off she added a pair of wine glasses to still tacky resin resulting in them and the table becoming one.

Not even slightly professional.

Lobster woman's room was like a child in the dressing up box and I think she interpreted maximalism as everything in every colour and every pattern every where.

I think the right pair went.
Jack for the win for me.

I wondered what they said to the parents “ sorry parents, the nursery will be closed for a few days while we allow people to put in unsafe installations and inappropriate decorations. Good luck explaining this to your employers”

Bit late to reply to this but the nursery remained opened, just not the rooms they were doing!

Mooserp · 22/03/2023 17:40

I was surprised gingham curtain man didn't go, thought it was awful.

Jack seems to be so much better than everyone else.
