Still a bit cross that Jack didn't win as he was consistently better than Monika.

And cross too because Tom wasn't in the final.
So no one else thought he spoke a bit like Graham Norton mixed with Bono ?

I found the series irritating as the judges decisions didn't seem to reflect what we had seen. I hope Tom now has a lengthy client list. He seemed the most competent. Not being an artist myself, I feel pretty much anyone can sit down with swatches and a sketch book but I value the additional practical skills needed to take plans through to completion. Jack and Tom, in my view, should have been in the final.

Yes. I started a thread on it.

I'm watching The Great Design Challenge on Prime. I love Sophie & Daniel's dynamic; they're so lovely. And Tom is a good presenter. It works better with just 3 designers each time rather than so many at the beginning.

I was in Brighton the other day and walked past Jacks pub The Earth and Stars.

The exterior is so dark you can barely notice it's a pub.

The interior felt too dark, I'm sure they repainted the walls dark blue / green from top to bottom and removed the lighter green bottom part which made it a bit fresher.

The yellow nook was still the same and my favourite bit downstairs.

I forgot to go upstairs, I just popped inside to have a quick nose. It was packed but felt dark and dingy compared to how warm and sunny it was outside.

It made me feel a bit claustrophobic with the dark walls.

Just caught up with the final. Cannot believe Monika won. Or that she was even in the final. Although the cynical part of me is thinking she was set up to win as she should’ve gone weeks ago, and yet for the semi and the final she was given the easier brief - her hair salon was far smaller than Tom & Jacks were, and then she was given the smaller pub - she would have fallen to pieces if she’d been given two stories to design.
Michelle wanted her to win all along - how else could she say those twigs were fantastic

I had a look back at Cassie Nicholas’ website (Series 1 winner). I definitely wouldn’t say Monika’s style is identical to Cassie’s, but they have even more in common than I remembered.

I thought that Monika did the better design on the final, I loved that copper bar. But she should not have been in the final, she should have gone weeks ago. Tom and Jack were consistent in their performances and I really would have like to see consistency win. Very disappointing result.

Probably been said already, but "Designing the Hebrides" with Banjo Beale is on iplayer/BBC Scotland

I'd forgotten about the Great Design Challenge. I have a bit of a goldfish brain so I've noticed all sort of things from the episodes that I'd missed first time round with a toddler. Bizarrely even DH remembers it. I wonder why they stopped - budget, I suppose.

Great Interior Design Challenge was in a different class though wasn't it? I loved the social history bits. Tom Dyckhoff was great.

Isn't Banjo's "Designing the Hebrides" show just lovely?

It's a joy to see his relationship with the islanders, the designs are brilliant and his carpenters Tom and Eoghain are HOT!

The piece where he talked about being bullied by the rugby boys in his home town in Aus was genuinely moving. I really hope that the Mull EugbybVkub project helped him exercise those demons.

The only thing I don't like is the way that they create artificially short timescales for everything just to up the drama.

I just watched the Fish Shop one and it was great seeing Banjo again and his lovely demeanour.

Tom in particular is very easy on the eye. 😊

I'm "home alone" binge watching "Banjo". I'm tempted to go on a "Banjo design" tour.

Watching the banjo serious really made we.want to go back to Scotland. Shame it's so far away!

I am also a Tom fan.

Keep meaning to pop in and mention that the lovely Banjo is now a judge on this year’s series of Scotland’s Home of the Year - started last Monday at 20:30 on BBC1 Scotland, not sure if it is on in England, but is definitely on iPlayer (one episode at a time, unfortunately, no bingeing possible ☹️).

Has anyone seen either being filmed?

I saw a bit of Interior Design Masters being filmed in summer.

So, we know there is a new series. That's something.

It usually fills that slot, nowish, though, until Seeing Bee takes it over.

When is it on? I was thinking this weekend that I want something like that back on.

I've been wondering when it will be back on too. Hopefully it's soon.

I wish they'd bring back the fabulous Interior Design competition programme that used to be on BBC2 I think.
I dislike Alan Carr as a presenter.
