Picard. Series 3. First ep now on Amazon Prime and it's actually not bad (but give it time)

I read it's to do with because Q made an alternate timeline. I'll try find the link

Glad you raised the issue, @KaihahUmoniiv!

I’m not sure ‘alternate timeline’ is a satisfactory resolution - it destabilises the whole basis of fictional narrative. Might as well say Agnes Jurati stepped into a shower and - dissolved.

nipersvest · 15/04/2023 16:26

On the whole it was awesome, but am confused by 2 things:

  1. Agnes Borg Queen timeline, wtf?
  2. Start Trek reboot timeline, they mentioned the planet Vulcan in episode 9, but it's destroyed surely?
SavBlancTonight · 16/04/2023 07:48

Picard is set in the original timeline so Vulcan is still very much in place. In fact, isn't it Spock's attempt to stop the war that causes the problems with Romulus that was the point of Season1?

And yes - I thought we now had Agnes as Borg and so potentially they're not all as bad as they could be? I'm assuming that's going to be next....

Had to watch the last episode first thing this morning, before the spoilers come out and series 3 has been the best for me. If you prefer the original vibe of Star Trek then I really would recommend Strange New Worlds and a word of advice, continue watching episode 10 after the credits, that's all I am saying!

Figgygal · 21/04/2023 11:23

I shouted out, I smiled, I cried
Love riker and deanna's relationship
Just loved it
Even if I'm still cross about shaw

CaptainSeven · 21/04/2023 11:46

I loved it. I loved it. Had to watch first thing too.

I'm a happy little Trekkie.

TollgateDebs · 21/04/2023 12:36

@Figgygal @CaptainSeven it was a good episode and yes, agree re. Shaw but you might want to check out the proposed ST spinoff 'Legacy'! If you like the Riker / Deanna storyline, you'd probably like the Star Trek novel, Imzadi. Not usually a fan of this kind of book, but very much enjoyed this one!

TollgateDebs · 21/04/2023 12:37

Oh, @CaptainSeven is that a name change?

CaptainSeven · 21/04/2023 12:38

@TollgateDebs yes!

A34 · 21/04/2023 14:34

Oh wow! Especially for those of us who grew up with TNG, this was such a treat - like following old friends.

My only criticism is that the whole season seemed a bit unbalanced and the final two episodes seemed rushed. I think the makers could've spent more time on on the Borg story.

Self-indulgent? Heck yes! Wonderfully so.

And yes - there's a chunk of important stuff half way through the credits.

SoupDragon · 21/04/2023 19:55

Nicely set up for a new storyline!

catsrus · 21/04/2023 21:27

hoping hoping hoping that this is a promise they will keep! fabulously notalgic and I have grown to really like the new, younger, characters. 🤞🤞🤞

CrkdLttrCrkdLttr · 21/04/2023 21:55

Exciting climax! And then endless endings. And I would have missed the mid-credits extra if this thread hadn’t told me to go back to it!

All in all it’s been worth the time. And I’m going to miss these particular Friday afternoons.

BorgQueen · 21/04/2023 22:38

A beautiful, touching reference to Anton Yelzin and by original Chekov too. A perfect memorial.
Q popping up at the very end was a nice touch too.
Ed Speleers was excellent as Jack.

Decoart · 22/04/2023 14:14

Loved it, didn't like S1 and S2 but loved S3.
Growing up with TNG I felt sad how much everyone had aged. Excited about Captain Seven, she was my favourite in Voyager.

chocolateisavegetable · 23/04/2023 19:10

I’ve only just been able to watch it. Absolutely loved it and they’d jolly well be writing a new series with Captain Seven, Jack and Q!

Lillygolightly · 24/04/2023 11:31

Loved it!! All the nostalgia and when they brought out the old Enterprise I was filled glee!

I loved how Worf has clearly been on a journey and still a fierce warrior but all about the peace and calm.

Data finally reaching all he ever longed for and it made me laugh the counselling session with Troi over running.

Picard nice to see him back to himself, I did like season one but watching him being frail and old I actually stopped watching after 2 episodes and due to personal circumstances at the time I found it too melancholy to watch. Took me 3 years to pick it up again but I’m glad I did as overall I have enjoyed it.
